Mountain gorillas do not occur in Zambia: their only remaining wild habitat is the Virunga-Bwindi landscape across Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Conservation in 2026 is nevertheless a valuable regional lesson for Zambia, combining ranger protection, veterinary care, scientific monitoring, transboundary cooperation and community-based tourism.

Addo Elephant National Park safari costs and fees for 2027 are not published yet. SANParks lists the 2026–2027 conservation-fee period, but travelers must check the official rate schedule for current amounts. Plan for entry, transport, food, and gratuities. Addo is best for flexible self-drive trips and full-day guided safaris from Gqeberha.
One full-day Addo safari can run from about 09:00 to 18:00, giving visitors two main game-viewing sessions in one day. [8]
Addo Elephant National Park Safari Costs & Fees 2027 depend on how you visit. A self-drive trip usually separates park entry from car hire, fuel, food, and lodging. A guided tour may combine entry, a guide, vehicle use, and pickup in one price. However, each package sets its own inclusions.
Addo Elephant National Park is in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. The park works well for travelers who want a short wildlife trip from Gqeberha, also known as Port Elizabeth. One budget-tour listing describes Addo as malaria-free and highlights self-drive travel as a way to reduce guided-tour costs where allowed. [5]
Quick answer: Addo safari costs for 2027 cannot be stated as one fixed amount because the official SANParks fee schedule does not display the rates in the supplied research. SANParks lists the 2026–2027 fee period. Therefore, check the official page, then add transport, meals, tips, and personal costs. [1]
This guide explains the fee system without guessing prices. It also shows how to compare a self-drive visit with a full-day guided safari. For wider trip planning, see this 10-day South Africa safari itinerary and cost guide.
Addo Elephant National Park safari costs in 2027 start with the SANParks conservation fee, but the exact amount must be checked online. SANParks publishes separate conservation-fee schedules for local and international visitors. It lists the period from 1 November 2026 through 31 October 2027. [1]
SANParks treats conservation fees and Wild Card fees as separate items. The official rates page provides a distinct Wild Card section. It also lists separate charges for events, filming, and photography permits. [1] These categories matter when you plan a professional shoot or a special event.
SANParks also offers discounts on normal rates for senior citizens. [1] Travelers should confirm eligibility and the current rules before payment. The official page remains the best source because park prices can change between planning and arrival.
No verified 2027 Addo entry amount appears in the supplied research. For that reason, this article does not invent a rand or dollar figure. Instead, use the official SANParks schedule as the base cost, then build a complete trip budget around it.
For comparison, travelers often search for Kruger National Park when planning a South Africa safari. Kruger, Addo, and Madikwe differ in size, travel time, and tour style. This South Africa safari parks comparison can help you choose the right park before requesting quotes.
Compare Addo Elephant safari packages and request quotes from verified operators
You should budget for four layers: park access, transport, time in the park, and extras. A guided day tour may simplify payment, while self-drive travel gives you more control. The right choice depends on your group size, pickup location, and comfort with planning.
Self-drive travel can reduce guided-tour costs where park rules permit it. [5] You still need to pay the park’s conservation fee and cover the vehicle, fuel, food, and overnight stay. This style suits families and couples who want flexible stops and a slower pace.
Self-drive budgets also need a buffer. Addo may require an early start, and a return trip from Gqeberha adds fuel and time. A simple plan includes one night near the park, packed snacks, drinking water, and a confirmed entry booking.
A listed full-day Addo itinerary starts with accommodation pickup between 09:00 and 09:20. It reaches the park around 09:45 and returns to Port Elizabeth or Gqeberha after the viewing day. [8] This format suits visitors with limited time.
One itinerary divides game viewing into a southern session from 10:00 to 13:00 and a northern session from 14:00 to 17:00. [8] The schedule leaves a break between sessions. Ask whether the package includes entry, transport, guide services, meals, and insurance.
Some Addo safari packages exclude transport outside designated pickup zones, gratuities, snacks, and personal items. [4] These exclusions can change your final cost. Read the “included” and “not included” sections before comparing two prices.
South Africa safari pricing also changes with travel style. Compare guided day trips, camping, private lodges, and multi-park routes. The SafariFind marketplace connects travelers with verified tour operators, so you can read authentic reviews before choosing an itinerary.
Compare Addo tour operators by inclusions, reviews, and 2027 availability
Check the official conservation fee, package inclusions, pickup rules, and cancellation terms before booking. The best Addo safari is not always the cheapest headline price. A clear package helps you avoid surprise costs on the day.
SANParks is the authority for Addo conservation fees. Its rates page separates local and international fees and lists the 2026–2027 rate period. [1] Check the page shortly before payment because 2027 rates may change or display in a different format.
A full-day trip works well for a short visit from Gqeberha. A longer stay gives you more time to manage weather, rest, and different viewing areas. Families may prefer a shorter guided day, while photographers may want extra time and a private vehicle.
Best for: first-time visitors, families, and travelers on a Garden Route or Eastern Cape itinerary. Addo is also a practical choice when you want a safari without committing to a long inland transfer.
Use the same questions for every operator. This approach makes low prices easier to understand and prevents missing costs.
The supplied research does not establish a single best month for Addo in 2027. Therefore, choose dates based on your South Africa route, hotel availability, and operator schedules. Ask each guide what wildlife focus and daily timing suit your travel dates.
Travelers comparing regions may also review Phinda Private Game Reserve, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, or Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Each destination creates a different route and budget question.
You can reduce Addo safari costs by choosing self-drive travel, sharing a guided vehicle, and checking every exclusion. Budget travelers should compare the total trip cost, not only the advertised tour rate. A cheaper package may add transport, food, and tips later.
Self-drive is a useful option where permitted and can lower guided-tour costs. [5] It works best when you already have a rental car and can reach the park without a costly transfer. Plan fuel, entry, food, and parking before you leave.
A shared tour can spread vehicle and guide costs across several travelers. Ask about the maximum group size and pickup route. A private tour offers more control, but it may cost more because fewer guests share the vehicle.
Some packages exclude snacks and personal items. [4] Carry water, sun protection, comfortable clothing, and any needed medicine. Confirm food rules with your operator and avoid assuming that a full-day label includes lunch.
Reviews can reveal whether an operator follows its published timetable. They can also show how guides handle pickup, vehicle comfort, and communication. SafariFind helps travelers compare tour operators and read authentic traveler reviews in one marketplace.

Addo Elephant National Park safari costs for 2027 cannot be confirmed from the supplied rate summary. SANParks lists the 2026–2027 conservation-fee period, but travelers must check its official page for the amount. Add transport, food, snacks, gratuities, and accommodation to estimate the full trip cost. [1]
Addo Elephant National Park uses SANParks conservation fees for park access. SANParks publishes separate local and international fee schedules and lists Wild Card fees separately. Confirm the current 2027 amount on the SANParks rates page before travel. [1]
Expect possible extra costs for transport outside a pickup zone, gratuities, snacks, and personal items. Some full-day Addo safari packages exclude these services. Ask the operator for a written list of inclusions before paying. [4]
A listed full-day Addo safari runs about 09:00–18:00, including accommodation pickup, park viewing, and return to Gqeberha. One itinerary schedules game viewing from 10:00–13:00 in the south and 14:00–17:00 in the north. [8]
Addo is a good budget option when you use self-drive travel where permitted, choose simple lodging, and compare guided tours. A budget-tour listing describes Addo as malaria-free and promotes self-drive as a way to reduce guided-tour costs. [5]
Use SafariFind to compare safari packages, review verified tour operators, and request a quote for your dates. Check the final offer for park entry, pickup, meals, gratuities, and cancellation terms before booking.

"Communications with Mack via email were swift and comprehensible. We were picked up at the airport on arrival by our guide, Thomas, who would be with us for the whole week. We signed up for a budget camping safari, and we had a great time! The campsites were nicer than I thought they would be, and the Kiliholidays team did a great job of taking care of us the whole trip. Thomas was very accommodating, and our 'stomach engineer' did a fantastic job the whole trip. My partner and I were very impressed by the quality of the food. Thomas was an incredible driver; a few times we had to stop and help other drivers who were stuck! This was my second visit to East Africa, and I will definitely book with Kiliholidays for my third trip :) A few tips for other travelers: The sleeping mattress was a bit thin for me (my partner had no trouble!), but I found that sleeping on my back instead of my side helped. If you have sensitive hips, I'd recommend bringing something to use as a cushion, or possibly arranging for an extra mattress. The tent was high-quality and the sleeping bags were warm. We stayed in Mto wa Mbu a few nights and it was quite hot there. We brought sleeping sacks (very thin) and used those instead. Bring LOTS of insect repellent and use it often (biting flies in the daytime, mosquitoes at night). Same with hand sanitizer (public campsite toilets don't usually have soap). Granola bars are a good idea, too, if you like to snack between meals. There's not a lot of access to ice, so if you like an evening adult-beverage, just ask your guide to stop before you leave Arusha to pick up some wine. We picked up a 5-liter box of South African wine for about 25euros and it was very convenient (bring your own cups!)."

"This is the second time I have traveled with my family with GoExplore. The first time was an amazing Uganda experience (already reviewed) and this second experience with my husband to Kenya was equally amazing. Brian organized organized both tours for me and tailored them according to my wishes. As this is still the time of unsure flights and Covid difficulties, he was easily able to adapt to some changes with travel that were beyond our control. GoExplore is a boutique business that is very personalized and offers you the equal and more than a large corporate operator. The price point is compatible with group tours but you will have your own personal driver and guide for yourself and there is nothing to compare with this luxury. Because of that, you will also be able to adapt your days schedule if you wish according what you want and not what is a groups plan. We were completely happy and satisfied with all aspects of our travel (on both trips). Brian knows the safari tour industry and is constantly working to improve the business, his knowledge about lodges, the parks, restaurants and all minute aspects of the tour. He will be able to personally attest to the quality of whatever product he is recommending to you. Sammi was our driver in Kenya and we can only say that he was amazing. He knew more about wildlife (and every birds name and details) than an encyclopedia, was an amazingly adept driver in sometimes rough conditions (traffic, rough park roads, etc.) and looked out for our interests. While respecting the animals, he went above and beyond trying to make sure we saw every different animal we could. We appreciated that he obviously respected and cared about the animals we were seeing. (Not all safari drivers do and will do anything to try to get to see something up close, even while encroaching too much on their space.) We had a minor vehicle difficulty and Sammi made sure that everything went smoothly and we didn't miss a minute of our trip or schedule. He is quite an asset to GoExplore. Sammi only drives on Kenya trips but if you go to Uganda, I highly recommend Moses who was equally great. Overall, the trip was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. If you haven't gone on a safari before, you should trip to put this on your life plan. There is nothing like it and when you plan it, you want a safari operator that will listen to your needs, wants, and budget and tailor it to fit you. GoExplore will do that in a personal way. Our lodges that Brian picked were magical and the food was outstanding. There was nothing about our trip that we would have changed. I highly recommend GoExplore if you want to travel to any of the countries they operate in. If not those countries, then reconsider them over the more commercialized ones (such as South Africa) and you won't be disappointed."

"We just finished a 2-week tour of South Africa with extension to Victoria Falls and the Monde Village Cultural Experience was one of the highlights of the entire trip. It is a must-do for anyone in the area. Tongesai (our guide) was very personable and worked with us to customize the experience. He was flexible and took time to explain many things that aren't part of the "regular tour". We had great conversations throughout the tour. He ended up dropping us off so late (8:30pm), his wife had to call him twice. He took a few pictures with us so he had alibi. :) Mr Ncube (our village host) and his family were welcoming and excited to show us their way of life. Mr Ncube's explanations of his culture, family structure, farming struggles, and discussions on many topics showed us a simple way of life, much different than our modern American ways, but it made so much sense. People here fight hard to live but they do it with a smile. They may be poor, but not in spirit. We asked many questions and received questions ourselves. It was as if I was visiting an uncle living in a rural part of a third-world country. This family made us felt at home. We wish we had more time to sit under the summer kitchen during a raining day, sharing food and chatting with these folks. We wish we could sit in the winter kitchen to hear him teach his children and grandchildren. Needless to say, we spent 4+ hrs at this experience and wanted more. I am now back to "civilization" in a nice Qatari hotel, but I kept thinking about my time in the simple Monde Village. What a breath of fresh air that was. I brought some extra clothes to give, but ended up giving as much as I could live without for the rest of my trip. A pair of sandals doesn't mean much to me, but it means a lot to people in these villages. This is 30+ hrs flight from home so it is a one-time chance to help; I had to make the best of it. If I can come back to this area, I will definitely bring more people to share in this amazing experience. I encourage all who come to Victoria Falls to add this cultural experience to their itinerary."

"Cultural Vibes Travel and Tours has proved to be excellent yet again as this is now the third time, we have used them and a much-needed break after almost 3 years with the Covid pandemic. Tongesai is extremely reliable, professional, knowledgeable and does everything to make your trip a memorable experience. Compared to local larger companies, Tongesai’s individual package rates are more reasonable and come with a customized touch. We felt that our holiday with Tongesai was much better and suited us more so than if we had booked through a larger company. His individual tailoring, personal involvement and attention to detail pays off in the smooth running of your trip. Our visits to the Victoria Falls, both sides from Zimbabwe and Zambia were magnificent and never cease to amaze us. On this trip Tongesai arranged for a private sunset cruise on the Zambezi just for our family of four instead of on the larger vessels, which was a very pleasant alternative. The boat trip in Chobe is magical and a must if you venture into Botswana. Wildlife was in abundance, including lion, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, puku, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, impala, gemsbok, steenbok, sable and roan antelope, etc. We even saw a relative of Cecil, the famous black-maned lion, ‘once a true king of Hwange National Park’. I have no hesitation in recommending the company for arranging tours in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana - we will definitely be seeing him again. He is currently setting up arrangements with colleagues in Kruger National Park to venture into South Africa and I wish him every success with that."

"We booked our Zimbabwe trip with Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours following a recommendation from Nhongo Safaris in South Africa. Tongesai is a great communicator, and the booking process was quick, easy, and well organized. We were happy with the quote provided and were able to easily pay online. Tongesai was waiting for us at Victoria Falls Airport to take us to our accommodation. He has arranged an amazing whirlwind 48 hour visit, that was packed with a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, Morning Game drive, he accompanied us on an amazing walk of the Victoria falls and arranged an African experience dinner in the evening. It was so memorable, and everything we wanted! Overall, it was an fantastic trip, with a great guide, and we would highly recommend it for anyone considering a trip to Victoria Falls. For our next visit, we will definitely be reaching out to Tongesai and thoroughly recommend to all our friends."
