A Zimbabwe safari in 2026 costs about $2,900–$12,600 per person for 7 days, depending on lodge type, season, and activities. August is a peak dry-season month with strong wildlife viewing. Use the five budgets below to compare a simple Victoria Falls trip, a Hwange safari, a mid-range route, a walking safari, and a luxury journey.
Zimbabwe safari prices range from short trips near $900 to luxury journeys above $20,000. The large gap comes from lodge style, trip length, park choice, transfers, and guided activities. A seven-day trip gives you enough time to combine a major wildlife area with a second experience.
Quick answer: A Zimbabwe safari costs $2,900–$12,600 for seven days in 2026. Budget trips use simpler accommodation and shared activities. Mid-range trips add better lodges and private services. Luxury trips can exceed $1,800 per person daily. August offers peak dry-season viewing, while three to four nights suits a shorter stay.
Zimbabwe is a strong choice for travellers who want varied safari experiences. Hwange works well for classic game drives. Mana Pools suits walking and canoeing adventures. Victoria Falls adds an easy sightseeing extension. You can also compare routes in this guide to five Zimbabwe safari packages worth comparing in 2026.
This guide breaks down five realistic trip budgets. It explains what each budget can cover and where costs rise. Prices are planning estimates from current 2026 research, not fixed quotes. Confirm the final total with a verified operator before paying a deposit.
Zimbabwe safari costs about $2,900–$12,600 per person for seven days in 2026. The lower end suits budget or mid-range accommodation. The upper end suits luxury lodges, private guiding, fly-in transfers, and premium parks. Shorter trips can cost less overall but often cost more per day.
Zimbabwe is known for combining classic game drives with walking safaris and canoe trips. Standard safari packages generally include lodging, meals, game drives, park fees, and guide services [4]. However, international flights, travel insurance, visas, drinks, tips, and some transfers may sit outside the advertised price.
SafariFind’s August 2026 pricing summary places peak-season Zimbabwe safari costs at about $325–$1,800 per person per day [2]. That range explains why two seven-day itineraries can have very different totals. A simple lodge and shared vehicle keep costs down. A private guide and luxury camp push the price higher.
Daily price is more useful than the headline package total. A three-day safari may look affordable at $900, but it leaves less time for transfers and wildlife viewing. Adventure Life lists Zimbabwe trips from about $900 for three days and up to about $8,000 for ten days [5].
Trip length also changes your value. A seven-day safari spreads fixed costs across more nights. Those costs include transfers, guide time, and park access. A longer route can therefore offer more wildlife time without doubling the daily rate.
Always check the wording of “all inclusive.” Some packages include meals but exclude drinks. Others include shared drives but charge extra for a private vehicle. Ask for a line-by-line quote before you compare two operators.
Travellers can also read our guide to whether Zimbabwe is good for safari in 2026 before choosing a park. Compare Zimbabwe safari packages on SafariFind to review route details, prices, and verified operator options.
The five Zimbabwe safari budgets range from about $900 for a short trip to more than $20,000 for a two-week luxury itinerary. These examples show how duration and activity type affect cost. Treat each figure as a planning band, then request a quote based on your travel dates.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget Explorer | From $900 | 3 days | Not provided | First-time visitors and short stays |
| Victoria Falls and Hwange | About $999 | 4 days | Not provided | Falls plus a compact safari |
| Peak-Season Mid-Range | About $2,900–$5,600 | 7 days | Not provided | Couples and families seeking balance |
| Premium Walking and Canoeing | From $10,300 | 12 days | Not provided | Active travellers and photographers |
| Luxury Zimbabwe Journey | From $14,300–$20,800 | 11–14 days | Not provided | Private luxury and slow travel |
Adventure Life lists Zimbabwe safari trips starting at about $900 for three days [5]. This budget suits travellers with limited time. It can work well as a focused game-drive stay or as part of a wider southern Africa trip.
Choose this option when you already have flights and other transport arranged. Keep the route simple. Extra domestic flights, private vehicles, and luxury camps can quickly raise the total. Three days also gives you less flexibility if weather or travel delays affect a game drive.
TourRadar lists a four-day Victoria Falls and Hwange package at about $999 [4]. This is a useful entry point for travellers who want both a landmark and a wildlife park. It offers a short but varied first visit.
Expect a faster pace than a seven-day route. Check how many nights you spend in Hwange. Also ask whether the price includes transfers between Victoria Falls and the park. Those details can change the real cost of the trip.
A seven-day Zimbabwe safari starts at about $2,900 in the lower planning range [2]. This budget offers a better balance between time, comfort, and wildlife viewing. It suits couples, families, and first-time safari travellers who want more than a brief stop.
A mid-range itinerary can include several nights in Hwange, selected transfers, and guided game drives. In peak dry season, daily prices may rise toward $325–$800 per person, based on accommodation and service level [2]. Build a buffer for drinks, tips, and optional activities.
Zicasso lists a 12-day Zimbabwe walking and canoeing itinerary from $10,300 [6]. This budget suits active travellers who value specialist guiding. It also allows more time for slower travel across several landscapes.
Walking and canoeing safaris need careful planning. Ask about safety briefings, guide qualifications, equipment, and transfer days. A specialist activity can cost more than a standard game drive, but it gives you a closer and quieter way to experience the bush.
Zicasso lists an 11-day itinerary from $14,300 and a 14-day itinerary from $20,800 [6]. These trips sit in the luxury category. They suit travellers seeking private services, high-end camps, longer stays, and carefully planned park combinations.
Luxury prices can exceed $1,800 per person daily during peak periods [2]. The premium may cover private guiding, fly-in transfers, exclusive camps, and fewer guests. Ask what makes the trip private. “Luxury” does not always mean every transfer or activity is included.
Request quotes for Zimbabwe safari packages within your budget and compare the included services before choosing a route. SafariFind connects travellers with verified tour operators and authentic traveller reviews.
Start by choosing your park, travel style, and trip length. Then separate the safari quote from flights, insurance, visas, tips, and personal spending. This method shows your true budget and helps prevent costly surprises during booking.
Three days works for a short wildlife break. Four days can combine Victoria Falls with Hwange. Seven days gives you time for several game drives and a slower pace. Moriti recommends about three to four nights at roughly $450–$800 per person per night, depending on the area and season [7].
Longer trips suit travellers who want more than one park or activity. They also make sense when you travel far to reach Zimbabwe. However, each extra night adds accommodation, meals, transport, and guide costs. Choose length for experience, not only for a lower daily rate.
August is a peak dry-season month for Zimbabwe safaris. SafariFind reports that dry conditions concentrate animals around water sources, supporting strong wildlife viewing in this period [2]. Peak dates can also increase lodge prices, so compare early and late dry-season options.
Ask operators for two quotes: one for your preferred dates and one for nearby dates. A small date change may alter lodge availability and air-transfer costs. Request the same inclusions in both quotes so the comparison stays fair.
Tips should match service and your own budget. Ask your operator for current tipping guidance. Do not assume that a service charge covers your guide, driver, or camp staff.
Visa rules depend on nationality and can change. Irish travellers can review Zimbabwe visa guidance for Irish citizens in 2026. Swiss travellers can check the separate guide to Zimbabwe visa requirements for Swiss citizens.
Health planning also belongs in the budget. Travellers may need a medical visit, vaccines, malaria advice, or travel insurance. Read the guide on vaccines for Irish travellers visiting Zimbabwe before departure.
Finally, compare the full route rather than only the nightly rate. SafariFind listings help you review packages and operators in one place. Check the operator’s inclusions, cancellation terms, recent reviews, and response time before you commit.
The best Zimbabwe safari value comes from matching the route to your priorities. Choose shared drives for lower costs, three to four nights for a focused stay, and a simple park combination. Spend more on specialist guiding when walking, canoeing, or photography matters most.
Two operators may show similar prices but offer different experiences. One may use shared vehicles. Another may include private guiding. One may include park fees. Another may list them separately. Use the same checklist for every quote.
Do not choose the lowest number without checking the route. A cheap package may include fewer game drives or longer road transfers. A slightly higher quote may provide better access, more time in the park, or a stronger guide.
Hwange suits travellers who want classic game drives and a broad safari route. Mana Pools suits visitors seeking walking, canoeing, and a more active style. Read our comparison of Hwange and Mana Pools in 2026 before selecting your park.
Victoria Falls works well as an add-on. It can make a short trip feel more varied. However, extra transfers take time and may raise the total. Ask whether the itinerary protects enough hours for actual wildlife viewing.
These descriptions help search engines understand the images. They also help travellers using screen readers. Use real images from the listed route and avoid adding details that the image does not show.
A Zimbabwe safari costs about $2,900–$12,600 per person for seven days in 2026. Short trips can start near $900 for three days, while luxury itineraries may exceed $1,800 per person daily. The final price depends on lodge type, season, activities, transfers, and private guiding.
The lowest listed Zimbabwe safari budget starts at about $900 for three days. Adventure Life gives this starting price for short Zimbabwe trips [5]. A four-day Victoria Falls and Hwange package is listed near $999 by TourRadar [4], but you should confirm inclusions before booking.
A seven-day Zimbabwe safari costs about $2,900–$12,600 per person in 2026. The lower end suits budget and mid-range lodges. The upper end suits luxury camps, private guiding, premium transfers, and longer or more complex routes.
August is a strong month for Zimbabwe safari wildlife viewing because it falls in the peak dry season. Animals often gather near water sources during dry conditions [2]. August can also bring higher lodge demand, so compare dates and book early.
A standard Zimbabwe safari package usually includes lodging, meals, game drives, park entrance fees, and guide services [4]. Flights, insurance, visas, drinks, tips, and some transfers may cost extra. Ask for a written list of inclusions before paying.
Book through SafariFind to compare Zimbabwe safari packages and verified tour operators. Review prices, route details, and authentic traveller feedback before requesting a quote. Compare verified Zimbabwe safari operators and ask each operator to confirm the full 2026 cost.
A Zimbabwe safari costs about $2,900–$12,600 for seven days in 2026, with shorter trips near $900 and luxury journeys above $20,000. The best budget depends on how much time you want in the bush and which activities matter most.
Choose the near-$999 Victoria Falls and Hwange route for a compact first trip. Choose a seven-day plan from about $2,900 for better balance and more wildlife time. Active travellers should consider the 12-day walking and canoeing itinerary from $10,300 [6].
Compare the full cost, not only the headline rate. Check accommodation, park fees, vehicles, transfers, meals, guide services, and cancellation terms. Read health and visa advice before booking. Then request a clear quote for your dates.

"Cultural Vibes Travel and Tours has proved to be excellent yet again as this is now the third time, we have used them and a much-needed break after almost 3 years with the Covid pandemic. Tongesai is extremely reliable, professional, knowledgeable and does everything to make your trip a memorable experience. Compared to local larger companies, Tongesai’s individual package rates are more reasonable and come with a customized touch. We felt that our holiday with Tongesai was much better and suited us more so than if we had booked through a larger company. His individual tailoring, personal involvement and attention to detail pays off in the smooth running of your trip. Our visits to the Victoria Falls, both sides from Zimbabwe and Zambia were magnificent and never cease to amaze us. On this trip Tongesai arranged for a private sunset cruise on the Zambezi just for our family of four instead of on the larger vessels, which was a very pleasant alternative. The boat trip in Chobe is magical and a must if you venture into Botswana. Wildlife was in abundance, including lion, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, puku, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, impala, gemsbok, steenbok, sable and roan antelope, etc. We even saw a relative of Cecil, the famous black-maned lion, ‘once a true king of Hwange National Park’. I have no hesitation in recommending the company for arranging tours in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana - we will definitely be seeing him again. He is currently setting up arrangements with colleagues in Kruger National Park to venture into South Africa and I wish him every success with that."

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"My travel companions and I chose the 4 day experience. Technically it is really a 3 day experience, because the last day they provide airport transportation. I feel they go above and beyond in making sure they are providing their customers with a safe, exciting and exceptional experience. Gari was our driver/guide in Zimbabwe, and was friendly, helpful, and courteous. Gari either made sure we were where we needed to be or provided his own guide trip to the Victoria Falls. He even provided the rain gear, which is most necessary. Gari and his "boss" Mr T. went above and beyond when Delta postponed our flight by a day, by helping to make sure that the connecting airline would change our reservation. They then made sure we got to the airport on time, a day later. They are always willing to provide any additional things that you would like to see and do. If you looking for a guided tour company, this is the one to use, and one that I would have no hesitation in using again."

"First, Tongesai Mtematsaka was excellent with communications and service. We couldn’t have asked for better. My questions via email were promptly answered. His English was excellent, and better. He was always on time in meeting us, coming and going. Our two hour trips from VIc Falls to the sable sands lodge, and then from the lodge to the Vic Falls airport were a highlight to our entire Africa trip. My wife and I will be discussing various aspects from the discussions with Tongesai for some time to come. By patiently answering my many questions he educated my wife and I about Zimbabwe and the region - culture, practices and assets of the people, typical family life, economy, weather, etc., and possibilities and trends into the future - all believable and detailed. The staff and facilities at the sable sands lodge were all excellent, beginning with Michelle’s clear instructions and cautions. She was a delight. We were asked if we wanted to take a charming hut as close as we could get to the marvelous watering hole there and got it. Incredibly we were greeted by a dust-cloud from a herd of maybe 100 Cape buffalo running to the water - unbelievable! The meals prepared by So and Derik were really good, throughout. MC, our drive guide was excellent and very accommodating to all the guests in the comfortable and safe-feeling, open 4x4. We met some nice co-guests. We saw so many animals on our safari that I will not attempt to recall here. I would just say that the many watering holes in the Hwange park were impressive, As an environmentalist myself I was very impressed with the solar powered system for exploiting the aquifers, and the foresight of the authorities in developing and maintains these. I know the history going back to the 1920’s, but if there wasn’t maintainence and upgrade the animals could not continue, especially with drought effects of climate change. Finally, I must comment on the fact that our first night in our hut was spent listening to the rumblings of the elephant just outside out hut. In the morning the tracks outside our hut showed how close our visitor was. We knew then that Michelle’s cautions were serious. But then more, the second night we had a lioness spend the night outside our hut, perhaps roaring a mating call. At first light MC came by with the truck and asked if we wanted to see the lion. I shot out with my camera. What an experience!! We hope our parting tip to the group of 16 people providing excellent service was meaningful. I will certainly recommend this trip to anyone who will hear me. What a privilege!!!"

"We booked our Zimbabwe trip with Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours following a recommendation from Nhongo Safaris in South Africa. Tongesai is a great communicator, and the booking process was quick, easy, and well organized. We were happy with the quote provided and were able to easily pay online. Tongesai was waiting for us at Victoria Falls Airport to take us to our accommodation. He has arranged an amazing whirlwind 48 hour visit, that was packed with a sunset cruise on the Zambezi, Morning Game drive, he accompanied us on an amazing walk of the Victoria falls and arranged an African experience dinner in the evening. It was so memorable, and everything we wanted! Overall, it was an fantastic trip, with a great guide, and we would highly recommend it for anyone considering a trip to Victoria Falls. For our next visit, we will definitely be reaching out to Tongesai and thoroughly recommend to all our friends."
