A journey towards one of the most famous national parks in the world, the Serengeti, will begin. Although the drive is long, the scenery is truly spectacular and is sure to be an unforgettable experience for anyone visiting the park for the first time. As the journey progresses deeper into the Serengeti, the name, which means "endless plains" in the local language, becomes more apparent.
Covering an area of 6,900 square miles (18,000 square kilometers), the majority of the park is comprised of vast, open plains that seem to stretch on forever. The park is home to the great migration of over 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and numerous species of antelope. The Serengeti is also the perfect place to spot large predators such as lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas. Many famous television scenes, such as the river crossings, have been filmed here.
