1-Day Safari & Rural Explorer

This day excursion can be done from accommodations in either St Lucia Estuary or the Hluhluwe areas, with very slight programme variances. Early morning pick-up from your accommodation and in to the oldest game reserve in Africa - Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park. You'll enjoy about a 4-5 hour "Big 5" game veiwing safari with a prepacked breakfast, coffee & rusks in the park. Exiting at Memorial Gate to the start point of a KwaSmolo Rural Community Guided Walk. Experiencing and seeing modern day-to-day life in rural Zululand. There is no fixed or pre-arranged schedule because we want a 100% natural reaction from everyone and we see life as it happens! Engaging locals, a school visit, a visit to the community Sangoma (healer), see the local Shembe Temple and then pop in at the corner cafe where the community buys basic daily essentials

Once back at the start point you will be treated to a traditional "Shisanyama" or BBQ, with all the trimmings and a short traditional dance show by the youth of the community. This is also a time to discuss, ask questions and reflect on the day so far! Leaving KwaSmolo you'll be taken on a traditional Zulu Village Tour. At the village you are given a tradtional welcome, get a quick explanation on etiquette before entering and are taken back in time...a time of ruled by great Zulu kings. Experience traditions and customs of tribal life in a bygone era.

This wraps up your Safari & Rural Explorer Safari. From the traditional village you will be driven back to where we met you and dropped off.

NOTE :

• You will be travelling the whole way in our open safari game viewing vehicle, it does have roll-down sides and can be closed up in the event of bad weather.

• The vehicle is also equipped with rain ponchos & blankets. But dress acording to the weather and season as it can be very fresh early mornings and later in the afternoon.
