Classic bush camps often cost $400 to $800, while premium and luxury camps start above $900. July to October is the best period for many trips because the dry season improves wildlife viewing. Compare verified safari packages and lodge options through SafariFind before you book.
One luxury Zambia safari lodge can cost more than ten nights at a budget bush camp. That wide gap makes rate planning worth your time.
Zambia safari lodges 2027: luxury and budget nightly rates sit in four broad bands. Budget-friendly lodge options start near $395 per person per night. Classic bush camps often fall between $400 and $800. Premium camps begin above $900, while top luxury properties can reach $4,000 or more. [1] [4]
Zambia is a strong choice for travelers who want a quieter safari style. Many lodge stays focus on walking safaris, small groups, remote bush camps, and long days in the field. Your nightly price often reflects the camp’s location, level of service, included activities, and season.
Known for: Zambia is known for walking safaris, strong guiding, remote parks, and camps that place guests close to wild areas. These features make the country appealing to travelers who want more time outside a vehicle.
Best for: Zambia is best for wildlife travelers, repeat safari guests, couples, photographers, and visitors who want a less crowded trip. Budget travelers can choose simpler camps, while luxury travelers can add private villas and high-touch service.
Classic bush camps usually offer the clearest value. Rates of $400 to $800 per person per night can suit travelers who want guided game drives and camp comfort without paying the highest luxury rates. [1] The camp may feel simple, but a lower nightly price does not mean a short safari day.
Premium lodges move above $900 per person per night. The higher rate often covers a stronger level of comfort, more space, better service, and a remote setting. Wilderness states that its premium camps typically range from $1,000 to $4,000 or more, depending on the camp, season, and room setup. [4]
Luxury rates can rise quickly when a lodge offers private villas or a small guest capacity. Time + Tide Chinzombo lists $1,330 to $1,840 per person per night, plus a $100 levy. [1] That price sits firmly in the high-end bracket, so travelers should compare inclusions before judging value.
Four-star accommodation near Victoria Falls offers a lower-cost way to add a popular landmark to a Zambia trip. These properties are cited at about $215 per person per night. [1] The lower rate can help you spend more nights in the bush without making the full trip too costly.
Planning a longer trip? See what a 10-day Zambia safari includes before choosing a lodge budget. The total trip cost can include flights, transfers, park fees, meals, drinks, activities, and nights outside the main safari area.
Compare verified Zambia safari packages for 2027 if you want to match nightly rates with real itineraries and operator reviews.
Zambia lodge prices in 2027 depend mainly on the camp category, travel season, location, and what the nightly rate includes. A $395 camp and a $1,840 luxury camp may both offer guided wildlife viewing, but the room, setting, service, and included extras can differ greatly.
Room type is one of the first price checks. A standard tented room may cost less than a private villa. Time + Tide Chinzombo gives a clear luxury example, with nightly prices of $1,330 to $1,840 before its $100 levy. [1] Ask for the exact room category shown in your quote.
Season also matters. July to October is the best period for many Zambia safari lodge trips because the dry season often supports easier wildlife viewing. [1] Demand during this period can push popular camps toward the higher end of their rate band.
Location changes the price too. A remote camp may require more complex transfers, but it can place you closer to walking routes and wildlife areas. A lodge near a major town or airport may cost less and work well as a first or final night.
Inclusions can change the real value of a nightly rate. A fully inclusive premium camp may cover meals, drinks, and activities. Wilderness says its premium safari rates are fully inclusive, with meals, drinks, and activities included. [4] A lower headline rate may not cover every extra, so compare the full package.
| Lodge or category | Nightly rate | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mukambi Safari Lodge | From $395 per person | Lower-cost lodge safari |
| Classic bush camps | $400 to $800 per person | Traditional bush stays |
| Kasonso Busanga | From $540 per person | Mid-range camp planning |
| Premium safari camps | Above $900 per person | More comfort and service |
| Royal Zambezi Lodge | From $1,270 per person | Premium lodge travel |
| Time + Tide Chinzombo | $1,330 to $1,840, plus $100 levy | High-end luxury safari |
These examples show why one average figure can mislead you. Mukambi Safari Lodge starts at $395, Kasonso Busanga starts at $540, and Royal Zambezi Lodge starts at $1,270. Time + Tide Chinzombo reaches $1,840 before the levy. [1]
Management plans also matter for 2027. Zambia Luxury Lodge Collection is scheduled to take direct day-to-day management of its lodges on January 1, 2027. [3] Travelers should check the latest booking terms, inclusions, and operating details when confirming a 2027 stay.
Need help comparing a fixed budget with premium options? Request quotes from verified safari operators and compare lodge inclusions before you pay a deposit.
Start by setting a nightly limit, then choose the park area and travel dates. A practical plan separates the lodge rate from transport, park fees, flights, and time near a city or falls. This method keeps a premium camp from taking over the whole trip budget.
Use a 7-day Zambia safari plan as a simple starting point. A shorter trip may suit a first visit, while a longer stay gives you more time to enjoy a remote camp without rushing between regions.
Budget travelers should begin with camps near $395 to $800 per person per night. Mukambi Safari Lodge starts at $395, while Kasonso Busanga starts at $540. [1] These rates offer a clear starting point for travelers who want bush time without selecting the highest luxury tier.
Consider adding a lower-cost city or falls stay before a remote camp. Four-star Victoria Falls properties are cited at about $215 per person per night. [1] That option can reduce the average cost of a mixed itinerary while still giving you time near a major attraction.
Budget planning does not mean choosing the lowest number without checking the details. Ask what the rate covers. Confirm whether activities, drinks, transfers, and fees are part of the quoted price. A clear inclusions list makes two lodge rates easier to compare.
Luxury travelers should focus on space, privacy, included service, and access to activities. Time + Tide Chinzombo costs $1,330 to $1,840 per person per night, plus a $100 levy. [1] Wilderness premium camps typically range from $1,000 to $4,000 or more. [4]
Luxury rates make the most sense when the camp matches your travel style. A private villa may suit couples who want quiet time. A remote walking camp may suit guests who care more about guiding and time on foot than large rooms.
Check the latest 2027 terms before booking. The Zambia Luxury Lodge Collection management change scheduled for January 1, 2027 may affect how some guests arrange stays and services. [3] Keep your quote, inclusions, cancellation terms, and levy details in writing.

That figure provides a useful starting point for budget planning, but you should compare the full inclusions before booking. Meals, activities, transfers, and other costs can affect the final trip price.

How much does Time + Tide Chinzombo cost?Time + Tide Chinzombo costs $1,330 to $1,840 per person per night, plus a $100 levy. The lodge sits in the luxury rate bracket. Compare the exact room category, included services, and levy before using the price in your trip budget.
Are Victoria Falls lodge rates lower than safari camp rates?Four-star Victoria Falls properties are cited at about $215 per person per night. That rate is lower than the listed classic bush camp range of $400 to $800. Adding a Victoria Falls stay can help balance a trip that also includes expensive remote lodge nights.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
