One 8-day Zambia safari that visits Victoria Falls, Kafue, and South Luangwa is listed at $11,150 per person sharing. [4]
A Zambia safari in 2026 costs about $2,000–$5,000 per person for 7–8 days, while premium trips can cost much more. May through October is the best travel period, with June through September especially strong for planning. Zambia suits travelers who value quiet parks, walking safaris, guiding, and remote wildlife areas.
A Zambia Safari in 2026: Is It Worth the Price for You? The answer depends on what you want from Africa. Zambia is not always the cheapest safari country. It is a strong choice for travelers who want wild parks, skilled guides, walking routes, and fewer vehicles around wildlife.
As of July 2026, listed Zambia journeys range from $2,495 to $16,573 for five to twelve days. [3] That wide range reflects major differences in lodging, flights, park access, and trip length. A simple itinerary can stay near the lower end. A luxury route across several parks can cost many times more.
Quick answer: A Zambia safari is worth the price if you value remote landscapes and active safari experiences. Plan for $2,000–$5,000 per person for a typical seven- to eight-day trip. Choose May through October for dry weather, strong wildlife viewing, and access to key parks.
This guide helps you judge value before you book. It explains the main costs, compares trip styles, and shows which traveler types gain the most from Zambia. You will also find practical planning tips and links to SafariFind resources for prices, safety, health, and visas.
A Zambia safari in 2026 is a wildlife trip built around open-vehicle drives, walking safaris, river activities, and remote national parks. The main safari areas include South Luangwa, Kafue, and Lower Zambezi. Many trips also add Victoria Falls, a major highlight in southern Africa.
Zambia is known for open-vehicle game drives, guided walking safaris, sunset Zambezi cruises, boat safaris, and visits to South Luangwa, Kafue, and Lower Zambezi. [1][6] These activities create a varied trip. You are not limited to sitting in a vehicle each day.
South Luangwa is a popular choice for travelers who want a focused wildlife stay. Kafue offers a larger, more remote setting. Lower Zambezi adds river scenery and water-based viewing. Victoria Falls adds a landmark experience before or after the bush.
Victoria Falls, Kafue, and South Luangwa can form one broad route. An 8-day Zambia Discovery Safari covering all three is listed at $11,150 per person sharing. [4] That price shows how quickly a multi-park itinerary can move into the premium range.
The value of Zambia comes from the style of travel. Walking safaris let you explore smaller details, such as tracks, plants, and animal signs. Boat trips change the pace and offer a different view of riverside wildlife. Sunset cruises add a calm end to a busy day.
Zambia also suits travelers who dislike crowded viewing areas. However, remote parks often require more planning. Road transfers may take time, and internal flights can add a large cost. You should decide whether peace, space, and active guiding matter more than a low daily price.

A Zambia safari costs about $2,000–$5,000 per person for seven to eight days in 2026. Listed journeys show a wider range of $2,495–$16,573 for five to twelve days, so your final price depends on lodging, flights, parks, and activities. [2][3]
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short Kafue itinerary | From €657 | 3 days | Not stated | First-time visitors and short breaks |
| Victoria Falls and Kafue | $4,500–$7,500 | 6 nights | Not stated | Travelers wanting falls, bush, and charter flights |
| Zambia Discovery Safari | $11,150 | 8 days | Not stated | Multi-park travelers seeking a premium route |
| Luxury Zambia journey | Up to $16,573 | 5–12 days | Not stated | Luxury travelers and private itineraries |
A three-day Kafue itinerary is listed from €657. It covers 912 kilometers, rates as easy, and accepts travelers aged six and above. [6] This option offers a lower-cost way to sample Zambia, although three days gives you less time for several parks.
A six-night itinerary combining two nights at Victoria Falls with four nights in Kafue or Busanga Plains costs about $4,500–$7,500 per person. The listed inclusions cover accommodation, all meals, guiding, park fees, and internal charter flights. [8]
Accommodation is one of the biggest cost drivers. Adventure Life lists average mid-range accommodation at about $350 per night. Luxury accommodation averages about $1,350 per night. [3] These figures help explain the gap between a basic safari and a high-end lodge journey.

The best time for a Zambia safari is May through October, with June through September identified as a recommended planning period. [3] These months are important because seasonal conditions affect park access, wildlife viewing, walking activities, and the overall shape of your itinerary.
May and June work well for travelers who want a dry-season trip with a wider planning window. June through September is specifically recommended by Adventure Life for Zambia journeys. [3] These months can suit visitors who want to combine parks with Victoria Falls.
Victoria Falls is often used as an arrival or departure point. A trip that begins at the falls can then continue toward Kafue or another safari area. This route gives you two different experiences without treating the safari as only a game-drive holiday.
July through October is the core period many travelers consider for Zambia. This timing fits the broad May–October safari season supplied for 2026 planning. Dry-season travel can make a multi-park route easier to organize, especially when it includes drives, walking, and internal flights.
However, the best month depends on your priorities. A photographer may prefer more time in one park. A family may prefer a shorter route with fewer transfers. A first-time visitor may prefer Victoria Falls plus one main park instead of three destinations.

Planning a Zambia safari starts with a clear budget, park choice, and travel season. Begin by deciding whether you want one park, Victoria Falls plus one park, or a premium multi-park journey. Then compare what each operator includes rather than comparing price alone.
Zambia safari prices often include several services, but every package differs. The six-night Victoria Falls and Kafue itinerary includes accommodation, all meals, guiding, park fees, and internal charter flights. [8] Other itineraries may treat international flights as an extra cost.
Families should check age rules and activity limits. The listed three-day Kafue itinerary rates as easy and accepts guests aged six and above. [6] Ask about walking routes before booking if your group includes children or older travelers.
Health planning also deserves attention. Travelers from different countries may face different entry and vaccination questions. Belgian visitors can read What Vaccinations Does Belgium Need for Zambia in 2026? before departure.
A Zambia safari offers good value when the itinerary matches your goals. Paying more for a private guide may make sense if photography or walking matters most. Paying more for charter flights may make sense if you want several parks within eight days.
A cheaper trip may be better when you prefer one park and simple logistics. A premium trip may be better when you want several locations, flexible guiding, and high-end camps. The right choice is not the lowest price. It is the package that gives you the experiences you will actually use.

June through September is a recommended period for planning a Zambia safari. The wider travel window runs from May through October. These dates suit travelers who want to plan drives, walking safaris, river activities, and multi-park routes. [3]
Zambia is worth visiting for a first safari if you want active experiences and quieter parks. Walking safaris, open-vehicle drives, boat safaris, and Victoria Falls can create a varied first trip. Travelers seeking the simplest or lowest-cost safari may prefer one main park.
A Zambia safari package can include accommodation, meals, guiding, park fees, transfers, and internal charter flights. Inclusions vary by operator. One six-night itinerary includes accommodation, all meals, guiding, park fees, and internal charter flights, while international flights are additional. [8]
South Luangwa, Kafue, and Lower Zambezi are key Zambia safari areas. Victoria Falls is a major add-on. Choose South Luangwa for a focused safari, Kafue for a remote setting, or a multi-park route for a broader experience. [1][6]

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
