US$2,495 to US$16,573 covers the current listed range for Zambia safari holidays lasting 5 to 12 days in 2026. [7]
Zambia safari holidays in 2026 offer seven useful itinerary styles, from short budget wildlife trips to long luxury journeys. Listed 5- to 12-day tours range from about US$2,495 to US$16,573. June through September is the recommended safari season. Compare verified SafariFind operators, package prices, and authentic reviews before booking.
Zambia safari holidays in 2026 suit travelers who want active wildlife trips and quieter parks. Zambia is known for walking safaris, game drives, river activities, and small-group journeys. Popular routes include Kafue National Park and Lower Zambezi National Park.
Zambia’s tourism sector is one part of an economy recovering from drought. The World Bank estimated economic growth at 4.6% in 2025 and projected average growth of 5.3% from 2026 to 2028. [2] These figures show why tourism remains important for local jobs and visitor services.
Quick answer: Zambia is best for travelers who want a more active safari. Choose June through September for the recommended dry-season window. Plan for five to 12 days, and use the US$2,495-US$16,573 range as a starting point for 2026 package research. [7]
Zambia’s safari style often feels personal because walking and small-group trips create more time with guides. A walking safari changes your pace. You track signs, listen for birds, and study smaller details near camp. Game drives then add distance and wider wildlife views.
Lower Zambezi National Park adds water-based experiences to the classic safari. Listed routes include game drives, canoe trips, and boat cruises. Travelers may look for elephants, lions, zebras, and hippos while moving through different habitats. [6]
Kafue National Park offers a different type of journey. A listed seven-day Kafue and Lower Zambezi itinerary includes walking safaris, day or night game drives, and travel between Kutali Camp and Lusaka. [5] This mix works well for travelers who want variety rather than one activity.

The seven best Zambia safari itineraries match different budgets, trip lengths, and activity levels. A short wildlife break costs less time and usually less money. Longer journeys add park transfers, walking activities, river time, and higher camp standards.
Best for: First-time visitors with limited time. Known for: A compact safari plan with fewer transfers. Price range: The lower end of the listed 2026 market, which starts at about US$2,495 for five- to 12-day tours. [7]
Use this itinerary when you want a focused introduction. Select one main wildlife area and limit extra travel. Ask whether the package includes park fees, transfers, meals, guide services, and airport transport. Those details affect the final cost.
Best for: Travelers who want two parks and several activities. Known for: Walking safaris, day or night game drives, and travel between Kutali Camp and Lusaka. [5]
This is one of the strongest all-round options. You gain a mix of land activities and different park settings. A seven-day plan also gives you more time than a short break without reaching the highest luxury prices.
Best for: Visitors who want wildlife and water activities. Known for: Game drives, canoe trips, and boat cruises. [6]
Lower Zambezi works well for couples, photographers, and travelers who enjoy slower travel. Ask about safety rules, canoe group size, guide experience, and the number of nights beside the river. These points shape the experience more than a camp’s name alone.
Best for: Active adults and repeat safari travelers. Known for: Guided walking, tracks, animal signs, and close attention to the natural setting.
Walking safaris need a clear fitness plan. You should feel comfortable walking for several hours on uneven ground. Confirm the walking distance, maximum group size, age rules, and backup vehicle plan before you pay a deposit.
Best for: Solo travelers and guests who want shared costs. Known for: Fixed departure dates, a group guide, and a set route.
Responsible Travel lists 2026 small-group Zambia walking safari departures on 8 August and 15 August. [4] Small-group departures can make planning easier, but dates may limit your flight choices. Reserve early if one departure fits your schedule.
Best for: Travelers who want more than game drives. Known for: A longer mix of walking, day drives, night drives, and river experiences.
A ten-day itinerary gives you useful flexibility. You can spend more nights in each camp and reduce rushed transfers. It also leaves room for weather changes, rest, and a second activity in a favorite area.
Best for: Guests seeking premium camps, private guiding, and a longer stay. Known for: More nights, wider route choices, and a higher service level. Price range: Up to about US$16,573 in the listed 2026 range. [7]
Responsible Travel lists 12-day Zambia safari options from about US$3,135 to US$3,405, with the source display showing flight-related pricing information. [4] Confirm what each quoted price includes. Luxury names do not always cover international flights, tips, visas, or personal insurance.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget wildlife break | From about US$2,495 | 5 days | Check current listing | Short trips |

Zambia safari holidays cost about US$2,495-US$16,573 for listed 5- to 12-day tours in 2026. Budget travelers may spend US$70-US$100 per day, while luxury travelers may spend US$500 or more per day. [7] Your package price depends on camp style, transport, group size, and included activities.
The lowest prices usually suit travelers who accept simple lodging and shared services. A shared vehicle can spread guide and transport costs across more guests. You should still check the vehicle’s seat limit and the planned number of travelers.
Mid-range trips often provide the best balance. They can include comfortable camps, guided game drives, meals, park access, and some transfers. A seven-day itinerary is a useful target because it allows two areas or several activities.
Luxury trips cost more because they may add private vehicles, premium camps, charter flights, private guides, and flexible schedules. However, never assume these items appear in the headline price. Request a written list of inclusions.

June through September is the recommended safari season for Zambia in 2026. [7] This period should be your first choice if you want a clear seasonal guide. Ask operators about local conditions, park access, and activity schedules for your exact travel dates.
June can suit travelers who prefer the start of the recommended season. July and August are useful choices for people seeking fixed small-group departures. Responsible Travel lists departures on 8 August and 15 August 2026. [4]
September can work for travelers who prefer a later dry-season trip. Responsible Travel also lists several 2027 dates from 27 March through 23 October, including multiple departures in July, August, and October. [4] These future dates show how far ahead some group trips are planned.
Season alone does not decide the best itinerary. Your choice should also reflect walking plans, river activities, comfort needs, and budget. A river-focused route may suit you better than a drive-only trip, even during the same month.
Review the six best Zambia safari parks for wildlife in 2026 to match your interests with a park area.
Health and entry rules need separate checks. Requirements can depend on your passport, transit route, and travel history. Chinese travelers can review Zambia visa guidance for Chinese citizens in 2026, while Brazilian travelers can read the current Zambia vaccination and health guide for Brazilians.
Pack light, neutral clothing, closed walking shoes, sun protection, and a small day bag. Ask your operator about luggage limits, laundry, power access, and evening temperatures. Practical questions prevent surprises after arrival.
The best Zambia safari package is the one that matches your budget, dates, park choice, and activity level. Compare the full trip cost instead of the headline rate. A cheaper package may exclude transfers, park fees, or key activities.
Start with the itinerary. Does it spend enough nights in each park? Does it include walking, night drives, or canoe trips? A clear schedule helps you see whether the package delivers the experience promised in its title.
Next, assess the operator. Look for verified business details, recent reviews, clear booking terms, and direct answers to questions. SafariFind helps travelers compare tour operators, package details, and feedback in one marketplace.
Finally, compare comfort. Ask about room type, camp location, vehicle access, meal plans, and private or shared guiding. These details explain much of the gap between a budget safari and a luxury safari.
Compare Zambia safari holidays by price, duration, and activity on SafariFind before requesting your final quote.
Do not judge a route by park names alone. Read the daily schedule and ask how long transfers take. The best plan gives you enough time for wildlife viewing without making every day a travel day.
A useful comparison includes at least three quotes. Ask each operator the same questions. Then compare the answers, not only the price. This method makes differences easier to spot and supports a fair booking decision.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
