A 7-day Zambia safari costs $2,000–$11,000 per person in 2026, depending on accommodation, park choice, and travel style. Most 7–8-day packages cost $2,000–$5,000 and include lodging, meals, park fees, and game drives. July–September is the best time for dry-season wildlife viewing, walking safaris, and fewer crowds.
One 7-day Kafue and Lower Zambezi itinerary is listed from $5,680 for 2026–2027. [3] That price shows why Zambia safari costs can change sharply between basic camps and luxury lodges.
Zambia safari cost 2026: What a 7-Day Trip Really Costs depends on more than the number of nights. Your final bill reflects camp type, internal flights, park fees, guide services, meals, and the parks you visit. This guide explains each cost in simple terms.
Zambia is known for walking safaris, wild landscapes, and fewer crowds than several better-known safari destinations. [5] South Luangwa and Lower Zambezi are strong choices for a 7-day trip, while Kafue adds a larger, more remote setting. [4]
Quick answer: A 7-day Zambia safari costs $2,000–$5,000 per person for many 2026 packages. Budget trips start near $2,000. Mid-range trips average $3,500–$4,500. Luxury itineraries can pass $5,000 and reach $11,000. Plan for July–September if dry roads and wildlife viewing matter most.

Zambia safari cost in 2026 ranges from $2,000 to $11,000 per person for a 7-day trip. The broad range reflects different accommodation levels, park combinations, transport needs, and levels of service. A typical 7–8-day package listed by SafariFind costs $2,000–$5,000 per person. [1]
Budget Zambia safari packages start at about $2,000 per person for 7–8 days. [1] These trips focus on essential services and may use simpler camps or lodges. They still give travelers access to guided game drives, meals, accommodation, and park activities.
Mid-range Zambia safari packages average $3,500–$4,500 per person for 7–8 days. [1] This level often suits travelers who want comfortable lodging, strong guiding, and a clear daily schedule. It also gives you more choice when selecting parks and camp locations.
Luxury Zambia safaris cost more than $5,000 per person. Some high-end 7-day itineraries reach $11,000. These trips usually center on premium camps, private guiding, remote locations, and more complex transfers. The $5,680 Kafue and Lower Zambezi itinerary is one current 2026–2027 example. [3]

Known for: Zambia is known for walking safaris and fewer crowds. Best for: Zambia suits travelers who want active wildlife viewing, quiet parks, and expert guiding. Price range: Plan on $2,000–$5,000 for many standard packages, or more than $5,000 for luxury travel.
Compare 7-day Zambia safari packages by price and inclusions to see which trip matches your budget.
The headline price does not always tell the full story. A low quote may exclude flights, transfers, drinks, travel insurance, or personal items. A higher quote may include more transport and activities, which can reduce surprise costs after arrival.
Start by asking for an itemized quote. Confirm the number of nights, parks, meals, activities, transfers, and fees. This step helps you compare a $3,000 package with a $4,500 package fairly.
A 7-day Zambia safari package commonly includes accommodation, meals, park fees, and game drives. [1] The exact list depends on the operator and camp level. Always request a written itinerary, because two packages with the same price may offer very different transport and activity plans.
Accommodation is usually the largest part of a safari package. Budget trips may use simple camps or lodges. Mid-range trips focus on comfort and location. Luxury trips add premium camps, remote settings, and more personal service.
Meals are typically part of the listed package price. However, you should check whether drinks, alcoholic beverages, and special meals cost extra. Ask if the operator includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bush meals on each safari day.
Park fees support access to wildlife areas. SafariFind’s 2026 cost guide says typical packages include park fees and game drives. [1] Even so, your quote should state this clearly. It should also show whether walking safaris, boat trips, or night drives carry extra charges.
Transport can change your total cost quickly. A road transfer may cost less than an internal flight, while a remote camp may need both. Ask whether airport pickup, vehicle transfers, and domestic flights are included or billed separately.
South Luangwa is relevant for travelers seeking a classic Zambia safari route. Lower Zambezi is another key destination for 7-day planning. [4] A route that combines both parks may cost more than staying in one region because transfers and logistics add time and money.
Kafue is another option for travelers who want a remote safari setting. A current 7-day Kafue and Lower Zambezi itinerary starts at $5,680 for 2026–2027. [3] Treat that figure as a real planning reference, not a universal Zambia price.
International flights are not included in the Zambia safari package ranges above unless the operator states otherwise. Travel insurance, visas, vaccinations, tips, drinks, and souvenirs may also sit outside the package price. Your departure country can change the cost of getting to Zambia.
Health and entry rules also affect planning time. French travelers can review the latest health rules for Zambia in 2026. Australian visitors can check vaccination guidance for Australians visiting Zambia.
You can plan a Zambia safari on a $2,000, $4,000, or $6,000-plus budget by matching your route and camp level to your priorities. The best approach is to set a total budget first, then choose one or two parks. This prevents expensive transfers from taking money away from wildlife activities.
A $2,000 starting budget is possible for a 7–8-day Zambia safari package. [1] Focus on a simple route, shared activities, and practical accommodation. Ask whether the price includes park fees, meals, game drives, and transfers before you book.
Budget travel does not mean missing the main experience. Zambia is associated with walking safaris and fewer crowds. [5] A well-planned lower-cost trip can still provide guided wildlife viewing and time in a quiet park.
A $3,500–$4,500 budget gives you a stronger mid-range starting point for 7–8 days. [1] This range suits couples, families with older children, and first-time safari travelers who want comfort without choosing the highest camp rates.
Mid-range travelers should compare room types, guide ratios, transfer times, and activity choices. A package with fewer hotel changes may offer better value, even if its daily rate looks higher. Less driving can also give you more time in the bush.
A luxury Zambia safari begins above $5,000 per person and can reach $11,000 for seven days. Luxury budgets work best for private guiding, premium camps, remote parks, and complex routes. They may also make sense for travelers who value personal service over the lowest price.
One multi-park itinerary from Kafue to Lower Zambezi is listed from $5,680. [3] Use this figure when judging luxury quotes, but confirm the travel dates and inclusions. Prices can change between the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
