Where to Stay in Gorongosa National Park: 2027 Rates starts at $1,000 per person sharing at Muzimu Lodge from April to June, rising to $1,250 from July to September. Chicari Camp starts at $850 per person sharing per night. International visitors should also budget $20 per person per day for park entry and a $100 conservation fee for Chicari or Muzimu. [3] [4]
Gorongosa's top 2027 lodge rate rises by $300 per person between June and July. [3]
Where to Stay in Gorongosa National Park: 2027 Rates is a guide to the park's main listed camps, fees, seasons, and arrival costs. It focuses on Muzimu Lodge and Chicari Camp because the available 2027 pricing data gives clear figures for both properties. Rates are shown per person sharing unless the source says otherwise.
Gorongosa National Park is in Mozambique. The park is reached by road or charter flight, with Beira serving as a key arrival point. A one-way charter flight from Beira to Gorongosa is listed at $250 per person. [4] That transfer can save time, but it adds a clear cost to your trip.
Quick answer: Muzimu Lodge is the clearest 2027 option for travelers who want a fully inclusive stay. The rate is $1,000 per person sharing from April to June and $1,250 from July to September. Chicari Camp starts at $850 per person sharing per night, with guided drives and activities included in the listed rate. [3] [4]
This guide also explains which fees sit outside lodge rates. You will see practical advice on season choice, park access, transport, and booking checks. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic traveler reviews, so you can compare the full trip rather than the room price alone.
Where to Stay in Gorongosa National Park: 2027 Rates is a planning guide for choosing a camp and estimating the main costs of a Gorongosa safari. The available figures show two listed stay choices. Muzimu Lodge uses seasonal fully inclusive rates, while Chicari Camp lists a starting nightly rate with game drives and activities included. [3] [4]
Muzimu Lodge is known for fully inclusive pricing. The listed 2027 rate is $1,000 per person sharing from 1 April to 30 June. The rate rises to $1,250 per person sharing from 1 July to 30 September. Both figures include all meals and selected beverages. [3]
Muzimu Lodge also had a listed 2026 rate of $950 per person sharing for 1 January to 31 December. [3] The 2027 April to June price is therefore $50 higher than that 2026 figure. The July to September price is $300 higher. This difference makes travel dates a major part of your budget.
Chicari Camp is listed from $850 per person sharing per night. The stated rate includes guided game drives and activities. [4] The source does not give the same date-by-date 2027 breakdown shown for Muzimu, so travelers should request a current quote before making plans.
These rates matter because a lodge price does not always equal the final safari price. Park entry, conservation charges, transfers, flights, and extra nights can change the total. Read the inclusions line by line. Then compare the full package, not only the headline nightly figure.
Compare 7-day Gorongosa safari costs by budget before you request quotes from verified operators.
Gorongosa National Park is supported by a long-term conservation and community program. The Sustainable Livelihood Development Program has €20 million in funding and is scheduled to run for five years from 2022 to 2027. [2] That work links tourism income with local development in the park's sustainable development zone.
A lodge stay therefore sits within a wider conservation system. The listed $100 conservation fee for Chicari and Muzimu is a separate cost from the room rate. [4] Ask the operator whether the fee appears in the package total, because a low first quote may leave it out.
The main Gorongosa accommodation details are the lodge rate, the season, the included activities, and the fees outside the room price. Muzimu gives the clearest seasonal numbers for 2027. Chicari gives a lower starting rate, but you need a current quote to confirm dates and the final total. [3] [4]
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Muzimu Lodge, 1 April to 30 June 2027 | $1,000 per person sharing | Quote by number of nights | Not supplied | Lower listed 2027 seasonal rate |
| Muzimu Lodge, 1 July to 30 September 2027 | $1,250 per person sharing | Quote by number of nights | Not supplied | Peak listed seasonal rate |
| Chicari Camp | From $850 per person sharing per night | Quote by number of nights | Not supplied | Guests seeking a lower starting rate |
Muzimu Lodge's 2027 rate includes all meals and selected beverages. [3] That makes it easier to plan daily spending during the stay. However, the listed rate should not be treated as a complete trip total. Confirm park entry, conservation fees, transfers, flights, and any activities not named in the quote.
The 2027 rate is also seasonal. April, May, and June use the lower listed price of $1,000 per person sharing. July, August, and September use the higher listed price of $1,250. [3] For two people sharing, the difference between the two listed rates is $500 per person for the same quoted stay length.
Chicari Camp is listed from $850 per person sharing per night. Guided game drives and activities are included in the stated rate. [4] The word "from" matters. It signals a starting figure, not a guaranteed price for every date, room type, or length of stay.
Ask four direct questions before booking Chicari. Is the $100 conservation fee included? Does the rate include meals and drinks? Are all guided drives included? What price applies to your exact 2027 dates? Written answers make quotes easier to compare.
International visitors are listed as paying a $20-per-person, per-day park entrance fee. [4] A $100 conservation fee is also listed for stays at Chicari and Muzimu. [4] These charges may apply in addition to accommodation, so add them when you build your trip budget.
A one-way charter flight from Beira to Gorongosa is listed at $250 per person. [4] A return flight would therefore need separate confirmation for the outbound and return legs. Do not assume the listed one-way figure covers both directions.
Compare Mozambique safari lodge rates for 2027 when you want to check Gorongosa against other park stays.
Plan a Gorongosa stay in 2027 by choosing dates first, then matching the camp to your budget and preferred inclusions. April to June offers the lower listed Muzimu rate. July to September costs more at Muzimu, while Chicari requires a date-specific quote. [3] [4]
April to June is the clearest value period in the available Muzimu pricing. The listed rate is $1,000 per person sharing. July to September uses the higher listed rate of $1,250. [3] If your dates are flexible, request both periods and compare the total cost.
January to March and October to December need direct confirmation because the supplied 2027 Muzimu data does not list prices for those months. Do not copy the 2026 annual figure into a 2027 booking. The 2026 rate was $950 per person sharing for the full year. [3]
Choose Muzimu Lodge if you want the most detailed seasonal price information. Choose Chicari Camp if the $850 starting rate fits your budget and included guided activities match your plans. [3] [4] Neither choice removes the need to check fees and transfers.
A simple budget worksheet can prevent surprises:
Beira is a practical place to discuss with your operator because the listed one-way charter flight to Gorongosa costs $250 per person. [4] Road transfers may suit travelers building a wider Beira or Mozambique itinerary, but the supplied sources do not give a fixed road transfer price.
Gorongosa National Park access times change by season. The park gate is listed as opening at 6:00 a.m. from March to July, 5:30 a.m. from August to September, and 5:00 a.m. from October to December. Closing times also change across those periods. [1] Confirm access details with your operator before a self-drive or road arrival.
SafariFind helps you compare verified tour operators, safari packages, and authentic reviews. Look for a quote that names the lodge, dates, meals, drives, fees, and transfers. A clear quote is more useful than a low figure with missing items.
Gorongosa also works well in a larger Mozambique route. Travelers may pair a park stay with Cheringoma Plateau, Pemba, or Tofo. Keep travel time and flight costs visible when comparing those plans.
Request a 2027 Mozambique itinerary quote that combines Gorongosa with other destinations.
A Muzimu Lodge stay costs $1,000 per person sharing from April to June 2027 and $1,250 from July to September. Chicari Camp is listed from $850 per person sharing per night. Park fees, conservation charges, and transfers may add to those accommodation figures. [3] [4]
Chicari Camp has the lower listed starting rate at $850 per person sharing per night. Muzimu Lodge starts at $1,000 per person sharing from April to June 2027. Chicari's rate needs date-specific confirmation, so compare full quotes before choosing on price alone. [3] [4]
Muzimu Lodge's listed 2027 rate includes all meals and selected beverages. The rate is $1,000 per person sharing from 1 April to 30 June and $1,250 from 1 July to 30 September. Confirm whether park fees, conservation charges, and transfers appear in your final quote. [3]
International visitors are listed as paying $20 per person per day for park entrance. A separate $100 conservation fee is listed for stays at Chicari and Muzimu. Ask your operator whether both charges are included in the package price. [4]
A one-way charter flight from Beira to Gorongosa is listed at $250 per person. Road travel is another option, but the supplied pricing data does not give a fixed road transfer cost. Ask for both options when you request a 2027 quote. [4]
Use SafariFind to compare verified tour operators, safari packages, prices, and authentic traveler reviews. Request a quote that lists the camp, dates, meals, activities, park fees, conservation charges, and transfers before you pay.
Gorongosa accommodation in 2027 starts at $850 per person sharing per night at Chicari Camp and reaches $1,250 per person sharing at Muzimu Lodge during the July to September period. [3] [4] Muzimu offers the clearest seasonal figures, with a lower $1,000 rate from April to June. Chicari may suit travelers seeking a lower starting price, but its final cost needs a current date-specific quote.
Build your budget beyond the lodge. Add the $20 daily park fee for international visitors, the $100 conservation fee for Chicari or Muzimu, and any Beira transfer. [4] Check every inclusion in writing. That small step can prevent a large surprise.
Compare verified safari packages on SafariFind, read authentic reviews, and request a quote from a verified operator. In 2027, a careful comparison will help you spend more of your trip watching Gorongosa wildlife and less time sorting out missing costs.

"This is the second time I am writing a review of my experience of traveling with Kikwetu Cultural Adventures. Last year, Ken Benson and his team organized an 80 day custom made safari through 7 African countries for me with such outstanding logistics and customer service throughout the safari, that this year I decided to turn again to Ken and his team to ask for his professional assistance in organizing a half-around-the-world tour for me. I am 71 years old and decided that it was now or never for me to travel to some parts of the world which always have exerted a lot of attraction over me. I communicated to Ken via e-mail my ideas of where I wanted to go and how long I wanted to stay in each place and asked him to arrange flight connection, ground transportation, accommodation, sightseeing, etc. It turned out to be the safari of a lifetime: 31 days and 7500 km by road through rural and religious Ethiopia. One week in Nairobi with visits to museums and galleries, the Sheldrick’s elephant orphanage, a hike through Hell’s Gate close to Naivasha, Kibera slum and a very enjoyable walking tour through down town Nairobi which is especially recommendable on a Sunday. Flight from Nairobi to Nampula and ground transportation to Nacala, Mozambique. From Nacala, I had arranged for a freighter travel to Singapore with a stop over in Mauritius Island, but with three weeks on my hands while waiting for another freighter to come along and take me back home to Mexico across the Indian and the Pacific Ocean, Ken arranged for a 12 day safari in Indonesia, visiting Central and East Java, Sulawesi and Bali, and one week in Malaysia with highlights in Georgetown, Ipoh and Malacca. My journey lasted 122 days and whenever network connections were available, Ken kept track of my travels and was in contact with me and/or the subcontracted provider to make sure, that everything went according to program and schedule. It was a most gratifying experience and I want to thank Ken, Livingstone, Paul and the rest of Kikwetu Cultural Adventures for having made one more of my dreams come true. There is no doubt in my mind that, if you are interested in a truly custom made safari inside Africa and in neighboring countries, Kikwetu Cultural Adventures is the best choice for getting what you are looking for with regard to advice, support, customer service and price."
