Mozambique combines Maputo, wildlife, coral reefs, seafood, and the Bazaruto Archipelago in one 10-day journey. [3]
Mozambique Safari and Beach Holidays: 10-Day Route 2026 is a luxury-focused trip that joins a wildlife safari with a beach stay in Mozambique. Plan for about US$28,000–US$45,000 per couple for luxury travel, while many shorter trips start near US$5,000. July–October is a popular planning window for safari conditions, but flights and activities cost extra. [2][4]
Mozambique Safari and Beach Holidays: 10-Day Route 2026 is a balanced plan for travelers who want wildlife and warm-water beaches. The route starts with culture and history in Maputo. It then moves toward a safari stay before ending among the islands and reefs of the Bazaruto Archipelago. This mix gives you more than a game drive or a beach break alone.
Mozambique is especially appealing when you want a quieter Indian Ocean escape. The country offers local seafood, colonial landmarks, white sand, and coral-reef activities within the same trip. [3] However, the route needs careful planning. Transfers, flights, lodge choices, and island connections can change the total price.
Quick answer: A 10-day Mozambique safari and beach holiday is best for couples and luxury travelers who want both wildlife and the coast. A luxury trip costs about US$28,000–US$45,000 per couple in 2026, excluding international flights. Start in Maputo, add a safari stay, and finish in Bazaruto. [2][3]
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic traveler reviews. Use the marketplace to compare what each package includes. Check flights, transfers, meals, park fees, and water activities before you choose.
A Mozambique safari and beach holiday joins a land-based wildlife stay with a coastal island escape. The 10-day route below uses Maputo as the cultural opening, a safari section in the middle, and Bazaruto as the final beach base. This order creates a simple story: city, wilderness, then sea.
| Days | Base | Main focus | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | Maputo | Colonial landmarks, local food, and city walks | Culture and first-time visitors |
| 3–5 | Safari lodge | Game drives, nature, and guided wildlife viewing | Wildlife lovers |
| 6–9 | Bazaruto Archipelago | Beach time, reefs, snorkeling, and seafood | Couples and divers |
| 10 | Departure | Final transfer and international connection | All travelers |
Maputo is the route’s first anchor. The city adds context before the safari begins. Spend two nights visiting colonial landmarks, tasting local seafood, and adjusting to the pace of the country. A short city stay also prevents the trip from feeling like a series of airport transfers.
Bazaruto Archipelago is the route’s final anchor. The island group brings coral-reef activities, beaches, and a slower end to the journey. [3] Four nights gives you time for a boat trip, reef activity, relaxed meals, and weather flexibility.
Wildlife viewing forms the middle section. The exact reserve or lodge depends on the operator and package. Ask whether the rate includes guided drives, conservation fees, meals, transfers, and private vehicle use. SafariFind lists many Mozambique safari-and-beach trips from about US$5,000. Its 2026 pricing guide places a mid-range seven-day plan near US$6,500. Luxury 10-day travel rises sharply because it often uses high-end lodges, private services, and premium island stays. [2]
Responsible Travel lists a 14-day Mozambique safari from US$7,025 without flights. It also lists a 14-day Mozambique, Zululand, and beach small-group trip at US$2,870–US$3,105 without flights. The listed small-group departures include August 9 and August 23, 2026. [5]
The Africa Adventure Company lists a 10-day honeymoon safari to South Africa and Mozambique. Its 2026 land arrangements cover January 11 through October 31 for two travelers. [6] This example shows why you should compare dates, room types, and inclusions rather than compare headline prices alone.
Request a full cost sheet before paying a deposit. Ask for the price per couple and per person. Confirm whether taxes, transfers, and island boats appear in the quoted total.
Request a quote from verified Mozambique safari operators under your 2026 budget and compare inclusions, ratings, and traveler reviews before booking.
The best booking approach is to fix your travel dates, safari style, and beach goals first. Then compare operators on the same basis. A 10-day Mozambique safari and beach holiday needs more than a room price because flights, transfers, and boat schedules shape the experience.
July–October is a key period for planning a Mozambique safari in 2026. These months appear in the dedicated SafariFind seasonal guide and are often used by travelers comparing safari conditions. [4] Still, beach weather and marine activities may follow different patterns. Ask your operator to match the safari dates with your island plans.
Read the Best Time for a Mozambique Safari: July–October 2026 Guide before you select dates. A good operator should explain weather, road conditions, water activities, and seasonal lodge rates in plain language.
Getting there: Build the route around Maputo, the safari area, and the Bazaruto Archipelago. Your operator should confirm every flight, road transfer, and boat connection. International flights are extra on luxury safari-and-beach prices, so keep them outside your package comparison. [2]
Private transfers can save time and reduce stress on long connections. Condé Nast Traveler notes that a private transfer is preferable to self-driving on a busy route between Phinda and Thonga, where truck traffic can make the journey tedious. [1] This advice applies to travelers adding South Africa before Mozambique.
Do South Africans need a visa for Mozambique? The answer depends on the current entry rules, passport validity, travel purpose, and border used. This article does not confirm a visa exemption or fee for South African passport holders. Check the latest official Mozambican authority before departure, and ask your operator to confirm the advice.
Travelers should also check passport validity, blank pages, proof of onward travel, and vaccination advice. Requirements can change during 2026. For country-specific planning, read the guides for Norwegian travelers and review your doctor’s advice before travel.
Lodge choice affects both comfort and wildlife time. Ask how many nights you spend in each place, how far the lodge sits from viewing areas, and whether activities run every day. For the beach, ask about reef access, boat trips, tides, and weather backup plans.
Compare room types carefully. A luxury villa may include a private plunge pool, meals, transfers, and activities. Another rate may include only the room. SafariFind helps you compare operators, package details, and authentic reviews in one marketplace.
Use a written checklist before you book:

Zanzibar vs Mozambique is not a simple winner question. Choose Mozambique if the safari matters as much as the beach. Choose Zanzibar if your main goal is a beach break with cultural sightseeing and you prefer a more familiar island format.
The Bazaruto route adds coral-reef activities, local seafood, and island time after Maputo and safari days. [3] Mozambique therefore gives you a clear three-part holiday. Zanzibar may work better when you want fewer moving parts.

"This is the second time I am writing a review of my experience of traveling with Kikwetu Cultural Adventures. Last year, Ken Benson and his team organized an 80 day custom made safari through 7 African countries for me with such outstanding logistics and customer service throughout the safari, that this year I decided to turn again to Ken and his team to ask for his professional assistance in organizing a half-around-the-world tour for me. I am 71 years old and decided that it was now or never for me to travel to some parts of the world which always have exerted a lot of attraction over me. I communicated to Ken via e-mail my ideas of where I wanted to go and how long I wanted to stay in each place and asked him to arrange flight connection, ground transportation, accommodation, sightseeing, etc. It turned out to be the safari of a lifetime: 31 days and 7500 km by road through rural and religious Ethiopia. One week in Nairobi with visits to museums and galleries, the Sheldrick’s elephant orphanage, a hike through Hell’s Gate close to Naivasha, Kibera slum and a very enjoyable walking tour through down town Nairobi which is especially recommendable on a Sunday. Flight from Nairobi to Nampula and ground transportation to Nacala, Mozambique. From Nacala, I had arranged for a freighter travel to Singapore with a stop over in Mauritius Island, but with three weeks on my hands while waiting for another freighter to come along and take me back home to Mexico across the Indian and the Pacific Ocean, Ken arranged for a 12 day safari in Indonesia, visiting Central and East Java, Sulawesi and Bali, and one week in Malaysia with highlights in Georgetown, Ipoh and Malacca. My journey lasted 122 days and whenever network connections were available, Ken kept track of my travels and was in contact with me and/or the subcontracted provider to make sure, that everything went according to program and schedule. It was a most gratifying experience and I want to thank Ken, Livingstone, Paul and the rest of Kikwetu Cultural Adventures for having made one more of my dreams come true. There is no doubt in my mind that, if you are interested in a truly custom made safari inside Africa and in neighboring countries, Kikwetu Cultural Adventures is the best choice for getting what you are looking for with regard to advice, support, customer service and price."
