A five-day Madikwe Big Five safari starts at a published US$4,050 per person for 2027, before you add the details that shape the final bill. [1]
Madikwe Game Reserve Safari Packages 2027: Costs and Booking plans start at US$4,050 per person for five days. Lodge rates also include published examples from R14,380 to R29,030 per person sharing, while luxury stays can reach R21,000 per person per night. May to July offers the lowest listed Jamala rate. [1][2][3]
Madikwe Game Reserve Safari Packages 2027: Costs and Booking is a practical guide for planning a South Africa safari in 2027. It focuses on real published rates, lodge examples, season dates, and the booking choices that affect your total price.
Madikwe Game Reserve is in South Africa, and its published package prices cover a wide range. A five-day Big Five trip starts at US$4,050 per person. Jamala Madikwe lists R22,090 per person sharing for 1 May to 31 July 2027. Luxury accommodation can cost R21,000 per person per night. [1][2][3]
The figures below are useful for planning, but they are not one fixed price for every traveler. Lodge type, room choice, season, transport, group size, and included fees all affect the final amount. So, read every package line before comparing two offers.
This guide also explains how to read rates in South African rand, compare lodge categories, and choose dates. You will see direct answers first, followed by tables and booking steps. That format makes it easier to compare safari packages without losing sight of the real cost.
Madikwe Game Reserve safari packages in 2027 combine game drives, lodge accommodation, and planned travel services around a Big Five safari. The lowest published five-day package price is US$4,050 per person. Lodge-only examples show why two packages with the same number of nights can have very different totals. [1]
Madikwe safari packages are usually sold around a lodge stay rather than as a simple park ticket. The published package data gives a five-day Big Five trip as a starting point. That makes the duration easy to understand, but you still need to check what the package includes before booking. [1]
Madikwe Safari Lodge lists cited 2027 rates of R18,000 per person per night for Kopano accommodation and R21,000 for Dithaba accommodation. Those figures show how room type can change the cost, even within one lodge brand. [3]
Jamala Madikwe uses seasonal dates for its 2027 pricing. The lodge lists R24,140 per person sharing from 6 January to 30 April, R22,090 from 1 May to 31 July, and R24,140 from 1 August to 14 December. [2]
Known for: Madikwe packages are built around Big Five game viewing, lodge accommodation, and a set number of safari days. The published starter price is US$4,050 per person for five days. The lodge examples show that a lower package headline does not always match a luxury lodge rate. [1][3]
Best for: Madikwe suits travelers who want a planned safari stay with a clear lodge base. It also suits people who prefer comparing private lodge rates rather than building every part of a trip alone.
Price range: The published figures include US$4,050 per person for a five-day package, R22,090 to R29,030 per person sharing at Jamala across its listed periods, and R18,000 to R21,000 per person per night at the cited Madikwe Safari Lodge accommodation. [1][2][3]
Madikwe packages also differ in how they handle transport and fees. The published US$4,050 figure is a starting point. The final cost depends on lodge, group size, season, transport, and included fees. [1]
Compare 2027 Madikwe safari packages by price, duration, and lodge style.
A safari budget can look simple until you compare the rate unit. “Per person” may describe the whole package. “Per person sharing” usually describes two guests sharing a room. “Per person per night” describes a daily lodge rate. These labels are not interchangeable.
For example, a five-night stay priced per person per night needs a simple calculation before comparison. Multiply the nightly rate by five, then check transport and other fees. Never compare that result with a five-day package until both offers use the same inclusions.
Madikwe safari packages cost at least US$4,050 per person for a published five-day Big Five trip in 2027. Lodge prices range higher when you select premium rooms, private use, or a busy travel period. Published Jamala and Tuningi rates give useful benchmarks in South African rand. [1][2][5]
| Package or lodge | 2027 rate | Rate period or unit |
|---|---|---|
| Five-day Madikwe Big Five package | US$4,050 per person | Published starting price |
| Jamala Madikwe | R22,090 per person sharing | 1 May to 31 July 2027 |
| Jamala Madikwe | R24,140 per person sharing | 6 January to 30 April 2027 |
| Jamala Madikwe | R24,140 per person sharing | 1 August to 14 December 2027 |
| Jamala Madikwe | R29,030 per person sharing | 15 December 2027 to 5 January 2028 |
| Tuningi Safari Lodge | R14,380 | Published 2027 rate category |
| Tuningi Safari Lodge | R7,190 | Published 2027 rate category |
| Tuningi Safari Lodge | R57,520 | Published 2027 family suite rate |
Jamala Madikwe lists R26,390 per person sharing from 15 December 2026 to 5 January 2027. It then lists R24,140 from 6 January to 30 April 2027 and R22,090 from 1 May to 31 July 2027. The listed rate rises to R29,030 for 15 December 2027 to 5 January 2028. [2]
Tuningi Safari Lodge lists three 2027 figures in its rate table: R14,380, R7,190, and R57,520. The figures apply to the room categories shown in the lodge table. Read the category name beside the number before using it as a personal safari budget. [5]
Madikwe Safari Lodge lists R18,000 per person per night for Kopano accommodation and R21,000 for Dithaba accommodation in the cited 2027 rates. These are nightly examples, so they cannot be compared directly with a five-day package headline. [3]
Morukuru’s cited exclusive-use rate is R220,000 per night, with a four-night minimum for up to 10 guests. That creates an accommodation total of R880,000 before separate travel costs or currency changes. [1]
The best value depends on your travel dates and room needs. May to July has the lowest listed Jamala price. December and early January have the highest listed Jamala price in the published periods. [2]
Request a 2027 quote from verified safari operators using your dates and budget.
Book a Madikwe safari by fixing your dates, setting a total budget, choosing a lodge level, and checking every inclusion. Start with the published rate period that matches your travel dates. Then ask for a written quote that separates accommodation, transport, park charges, and other fees.
Use the same questions for every operator. Ask for the lodge name, room category, number of nights, meal plan, safari activities, transfers, and fees. This simple list stops a low headline rate from hiding a missing service.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews. Use those reviews to check how past travelers describe guides, timing, communication, and lodge service. A clear review history gives useful context beside a price.
South Africa has several safari regions, so check the destination name carefully. Travelers comparing Madikwe with Kruger National Park safari packages should compare the full itinerary, not only the lodge rate.
Travelers who want a walking experience can also review Kruger walking safari packages for 2027. That is a different product, so its permits, activity style, and price structure may not match a lodge-based Madikwe trip.
For wider South Africa planning, compare a seven-day Kruger safari itinerary with your Madikwe plan. You can also read the guide to South Africa safari lodge rates for 2027 when you are weighing lodge styles.
Madikwe booking decisions come down to rate wording, travel dates, and the exact services inside the quote. The lowest listed price is useful for a first budget, but it does not replace a full itinerary. Compare the same number of nights and the same room basis each time.
Price range: Start with US$4,050 per person for the published five-day Big Five package. Then compare lodge examples in rand. Jamala’s listed 2027 prices run from R22,090 to R29,030 per person sharing, while cited luxury lodge rates reach R21,000 per person per night. [1][2][3]
Best time to visit for the lowest listed Jamala rate: 1 May to 31 July 2027. Jamala lists R22,090 per person sharing for that period. January to April and August to December each show R24,140, while the festive period reaches R29,030. [2]
These figures describe price periods, not a promise that every lodge uses the same calendar. Ask the operator to apply the correct 2027 dates to your quote. That one check can prevent a major budget mistake.
Morukuru’s cited exclusive-use rate is R220,000 per night for a four-night minimum and up to 10 guests. The accommodation total is R880,000 before separate travel costs and currency changes. [1]
This option suits a group that values privacy and can share a large fixed cost. It does not suit every couple or solo traveler. Compare the total group price with per-person lodge rates before choosing exclusive use.
Madikwe does not need to be your only South Africa stop. SafariFind also lists destinations such as Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve and Addo Elephant National Park. Keep each destination’s lodge price and travel time separate when building a multi-stop itinerary.
Travelers adding Cape Town can review Cape Town safari tour packages for 2027. A coastal stop and a Madikwe lodge stay serve different travel goals, so compare the full trip rather than one daily rate.
Madikwe safari packages cost from a published US$4,050 per person for a five-day Big Five trip in 2027. Lodge examples include Jamala rates from R22,090 to R29,030 per person sharing and Madikwe Safari Lodge rates from R18,000 to R21,000 per person per night. [1][2][3]

A five-day Madikwe package is a published Big Five trip starting at US$4,050 per person. Check the written itinerary for lodge accommodation, safari activities, transport, and fees because the final cost depends on what the operator includes. [1]
Published luxury examples include R18,000 per person per night for Madikwe Safari Lodge’s Kopano accommodation and R21,000 for Dithaba accommodation. Morukuru lists R220,000 per night for exclusive use, with a four-night minimum for up to 10 guests. [1][3]
Check the lodge, room category, number of nights, rate unit, season dates, transport, separate fees, payment terms, and cancellation rules. Compare each quote in the same currency and make sure the operator uses your exact 2027 travel dates.

"We made our reservations with 50% down-payment way back in Feb-26, 4 months before our trip in June and balance 50% one month before departure from Singapore. We were not sure and worried a bit whether things would turn out as described and promised, as this is our first ever trip to South Africa. All our worries disappeared from the moment we were picked up upon arrival according to the itinerary, and subsequent daily trips were excellent in view of timing, routes, transports, accommodations, meals, and to the local guides and drivers assigned. Everything is above and beyond our expectations, and we sincerely thank Safari Tailors for providing us such a memorable trip of our life!"
"Communications with Mack via email were swift and comprehensible. We were picked up at the airport on arrival by our guide, Thomas, who would be with us for the whole week. We signed up for a budget camping safari, and we had a great time! The campsites were nicer than I thought they would be, and the Kiliholidays team did a great job of taking care of us the whole trip. Thomas was very accommodating, and our 'stomach engineer' did a fantastic job the whole trip. My partner and I were very impressed by the quality of the food. Thomas was an incredible driver; a few times we had to stop and help other drivers who were stuck! This was my second visit to East Africa, and I will definitely book with Kiliholidays for my third trip :) A few tips for other travelers: The sleeping mattress was a bit thin for me (my partner had no trouble!), but I found that sleeping on my back instead of my side helped. If you have sensitive hips, I'd recommend bringing something to use as a cushion, or possibly arranging for an extra mattress. The tent was high-quality and the sleeping bags were warm. We stayed in Mto wa Mbu a few nights and it was quite hot there. We brought sleeping sacks (very thin) and used those instead. Bring LOTS of insect repellent and use it often (biting flies in the daytime, mosquitoes at night). Same with hand sanitizer (public campsite toilets don't usually have soap). Granola bars are a good idea, too, if you like to snack between meals. There's not a lot of access to ice, so if you like an evening adult-beverage, just ask your guide to stop before you leave Arusha to pick up some wine. We picked up a 5-liter box of South African wine for about 25euros and it was very convenient (bring your own cups!)."
"This is the second time I have traveled with my family with GoExplore. The first time was an amazing Uganda experience (already reviewed) and this second experience with my husband to Kenya was equally amazing. Brian organized organized both tours for me and tailored them according to my wishes. As this is still the time of unsure flights and Covid difficulties, he was easily able to adapt to some changes with travel that were beyond our control. GoExplore is a boutique business that is very personalized and offers you the equal and more than a large corporate operator. The price point is compatible with group tours but you will have your own personal driver and guide for yourself and there is nothing to compare with this luxury. Because of that, you will also be able to adapt your days schedule if you wish according what you want and not what is a groups plan. We were completely happy and satisfied with all aspects of our travel (on both trips). Brian knows the safari tour industry and is constantly working to improve the business, his knowledge about lodges, the parks, restaurants and all minute aspects of the tour. He will be able to personally attest to the quality of whatever product he is recommending to you. Sammi was our driver in Kenya and we can only say that he was amazing. He knew more about wildlife (and every birds name and details) than an encyclopedia, was an amazingly adept driver in sometimes rough conditions (traffic, rough park roads, etc.) and looked out for our interests. While respecting the animals, he went above and beyond trying to make sure we saw every different animal we could. We appreciated that he obviously respected and cared about the animals we were seeing. (Not all safari drivers do and will do anything to try to get to see something up close, even while encroaching too much on their space.) We had a minor vehicle difficulty and Sammi made sure that everything went smoothly and we didn't miss a minute of our trip or schedule. He is quite an asset to GoExplore. Sammi only drives on Kenya trips but if you go to Uganda, I highly recommend Moses who was equally great. Overall, the trip was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. If you haven't gone on a safari before, you should trip to put this on your life plan. There is nothing like it and when you plan it, you want a safari operator that will listen to your needs, wants, and budget and tailor it to fit you. GoExplore will do that in a personal way. Our lodges that Brian picked were magical and the food was outstanding. There was nothing about our trip that we would have changed. I highly recommend GoExplore if you want to travel to any of the countries they operate in. If not those countries, then reconsider them over the more commercialized ones (such as South Africa) and you won't be disappointed."
"We just finished a 2-week tour of South Africa with extension to Victoria Falls and the Monde Village Cultural Experience was one of the highlights of the entire trip. It is a must-do for anyone in the area. Tongesai (our guide) was very personable and worked with us to customize the experience. He was flexible and took time to explain many things that aren't part of the "regular tour". We had great conversations throughout the tour. He ended up dropping us off so late (8:30pm), his wife had to call him twice. He took a few pictures with us so he had alibi. :) Mr Ncube (our village host) and his family were welcoming and excited to show us their way of life. Mr Ncube's explanations of his culture, family structure, farming struggles, and discussions on many topics showed us a simple way of life, much different than our modern American ways, but it made so much sense. People here fight hard to live but they do it with a smile. They may be poor, but not in spirit. We asked many questions and received questions ourselves. It was as if I was visiting an uncle living in a rural part of a third-world country. This family made us felt at home. We wish we had more time to sit under the summer kitchen during a raining day, sharing food and chatting with these folks. We wish we could sit in the winter kitchen to hear him teach his children and grandchildren. Needless to say, we spent 4+ hrs at this experience and wanted more. I am now back to "civilization" in a nice Qatari hotel, but I kept thinking about my time in the simple Monde Village. What a breath of fresh air that was. I brought some extra clothes to give, but ended up giving as much as I could live without for the rest of my trip. A pair of sandals doesn't mean much to me, but it means a lot to people in these villages. This is 30+ hrs flight from home so it is a one-time chance to help; I had to make the best of it. If I can come back to this area, I will definitely bring more people to share in this amazing experience. I encourage all who come to Victoria Falls to add this cultural experience to their itinerary."
