A seven-day Madagascar safari costs US$900 to US$1,500 per person in 2027, excluding international flights and insurance. This budget covers local transport, lodging, meals, park visits, guides, and selected activities. Choose one region, compare verified operators, and book early for your 2027 travel dates.
Madagascar Safari Cost 2027: 7-Day Budget Breakdown starts at US$900 per person for a simple, focused trip. The upper budget reaches US$1,500 before international flights and insurance. That range gives you a useful starting point, but your route still matters.
Madagascar is a large island with long road journeys between wildlife areas. A seven-day trip works best when you choose one region instead of crossing the country. Eastern routes suit rainforest and lemur trips. Northern routes suit island stays and marine reserves. Southern routes suit dry forests, rock formations, and community reserves.
The price also changes with your travel style. A shared vehicle and simple lodge reduce the bill. A private guide, better rooms, internal flights, and longer drives raise it. Luxury Madagascar trips start near US$4,000 to US$7,000 per person, according to the summarized 2027 cost data [1].
This guide breaks down the Madagascar safari cost for 2027 in plain terms. It covers the main budget lines, route choices, booking deposits, and ways to avoid spending money on rushed travel. You will also see real comparison points from listed Madagascar tours.
Quick answer: A seven-day Madagascar safari costs US$900 to US$1,500 per person in 2027, excluding international flights and insurance. Plan US$300 to US$500 for rooms, US$200 to US$350 for meals, US$150 to US$300 for park fees and guides, and US$300 to US$450 for transport and activities [1].
A simple seven-day Madagascar safari costs US$900 to US$1,500 per person in 2027. This estimate includes local transport, accommodation, meals, park visits, guides, and activities. It excludes international flights and travel insurance, so add those costs when you build your full trip budget [1].
The US$900 to US$1,500 range suits travelers who choose a simple route and moderate lodging. It is also easier to reach when you share transport with other guests. A private trip gives you more control, but the vehicle and guide costs may cover fewer people.
The budget data divides a seven-day trip into four main parts. Accommodation takes US$300 to US$500. Meals take US$200 to US$350. Park fees and guides take US$150 to US$300. Transport and activities take US$300 to US$450 [1].
| Budget item | Seven-day estimate | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation | US$300 to US$500 | Simple lodges and guesthouses |
| Meals | US$200 to US$350 | Daily food during the trip |
| Park fees and guides | US$150 to US$300 | Entry costs and guided visits |
| Transport and activities | US$300 to US$450 | Road travel and selected experiences |
The budget lines total US$950 to US$1,600 when you add their lowest and highest figures. The headline estimate remains US$900 to US$1,500 because package prices combine these services in different ways. Treat both figures as planning guides, not as a fixed checkout price [1].
Route length is the first major cost driver. A short regional loop needs less fuel and fewer travel days. A route that joins Antananarivo, the eastern rainforests, the south, and the coast needs more road time and often a higher transport budget.
Lodging quality is the second driver. A simple guesthouse helps you stay near the lower end. A private room at a higher-end lodge moves the trip toward the upper end. The same rule applies to meals, guide services, and activities.
Travel group size also matters. A shared vehicle spreads the guide and transport cost across several people. A private trip gives you a quieter schedule, but one traveler carries more of the operating cost.
Madagascar’s wildlife is another reason to plan a focused route. The country’s forests and reserves sit far apart. You should choose the animals and places that matter most before comparing packages. That step often saves more money than cutting meals or room quality.
Start with a route that fits seven days. Then compare Analamazaotra tour costs and travel plans if eastern rainforest wildlife is your priority.
A seven-day Madagascar safari fits best around one main region. Eastern rainforest trips focus on lemurs and forest walks. Southern trips focus on dry landscapes and reserves. Northern trips combine wildlife with islands, but extra transfers can push the price higher.
Andasibe I is a practical choice for travelers who want a shorter wildlife route from the capital. The wider Andasibe-Mantadia National Park area suits forest walks and lemur viewing. A seven-day plan can spend several nights in the region instead of paying for long cross-country transfers.
Andasibe is also useful for travelers who want a simple first Madagascar safari. You can place more of your budget into guided forest visits and lodging. That approach is often easier than trying to reach several distant parks in one week.
For room planning, read this guide to Andasibe-Mantadia lodge rates in 2027. It helps you compare location and room style before requesting a quote.
Anja Community Reserve can suit a southern route with a strong local connection. The reserve appears in SafariFind’s destination listings, and its location works well for travelers who want a shorter visit instead of a large national park circuit.
Ranomafana National Park gives a different rainforest option in the south. However, adding several southern parks can increase driving time. A seven-day plan should leave room for road travel rather than filling every day with visits.
Travelers who want rock scenery and walks can review the Isalo walking safari price guide. Isalo may work better as the main focus of a short southern trip than as one stop in a rushed island-wide route.
Nosy Komba, Nosy Sakatia, and Nosy Tanikely Marine Reserve suit travelers who want island time with wildlife. Lokobe National Park gives visitors a forest option near the Nosy Be area.
Nosy Iranja can add a marine day, while Andilana Beach packages offer another way to plan northern coast time. Each added boat trip or transfer affects the final Madagascar safari cost.
Beach time sounds simple, but island logistics can take a full day. Keep that in mind when you compare a northern safari with an eastern forest route. A seven-day trip needs a clear balance between travel, wildlife, and rest.
Antananarivo and Antsirabe can also appear in longer road itineraries. Read this guide to Antananarivo tours and day trips if you want city time before or after your safari.
Build your 2027 Madagascar safari budget in four steps. Set the total limit first, choose one region second, pick your lodging third, and then add activities. This order protects your budget because transport and route choices affect almost every other cost.
Start with US$900 to US$1,500 per person for a simple seven-day trip. Keep international flights and insurance outside that figure. If your trip includes private transport, premium lodging, or several remote stops, plan above the basic range [1].
A mid-range traveler may also compare the cost with a longer regional holiday. A two-week Zanzibar and Madagascar trip, with one week in each destination, is estimated at US$2,500 to US$4,500 per person in 2026 and 2027. That figure excludes international and intercontinental flights [2].
Choose rainforest, southern parks, or northern islands. This decision keeps the route clear. It also makes quotes easier to compare because operators can price similar transport, lodging, and activity plans.
Long road transfers can take time away from wildlife visits. They can also increase fuel and driver costs. A seven-day itinerary should avoid chasing every famous park on the island.
Set aside US$300 to US$450 for activities and transport. That line may cover road movement, boat trips, forest walks, or other planned visits. Ask each operator what the package includes before comparing the headline price.
Park fees and guides need their own line. The seven-day estimate places them at US$150 to US$300 [1]. A low quote may look attractive if it leaves out guide services or visits that you expected.
Payment timing affects your cash plan. One listed Madagascar group tour accepts a 30% deposit, with the remaining balance due 60 days before departure [3]. The same tour offers interest-free biweekly payments of US$92 [3].
These terms do not prove that every operator uses the same schedule. They show why you should read the booking conditions before paying. Check the deposit, balance date, cancellation terms, and what happens if a service changes.
Compare packages with the same inclusions before choosing the lowest price. Review the full Madagascar safari cost guide alongside operator quotes, then ask for a clear line-by-line budget.
| Trip example | Length | Published price | Planning use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simple Madagascar safari | Seven days | US$900 to US$1,500 per person | Budget regional trip |
| Tsingy de Bemaraha group trip | Six days | US$3,409 per person | Higher-cost specialist route |
| Madagascar Lemur and Sainte-Marie Island tour | Eleven days | From US$2,768 per person | Longer wildlife and island plan |
| Zanzibar and Madagascar trip | Fourteen days | US$2,500 to US$4,500 per person | One week in each destination |
The six-day Tsingy de Bemaraha group trip is listed at US$3,409, which sits well above the simple seven-day budget [1]. The 11-day Madagascar Lemur and Sainte-Marie Island tour starts at US$2,768 per person [8]. These examples show how special routes and longer trips change the price.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic traveler reviews. Use the marketplace to compare operators, check package details, and request a quote that matches your route and budget.
Keep a seven-day Madagascar safari affordable by staying in one region, sharing transport, and matching activities to your main wildlife goal. A simple route protects both your time and your money. It also gives guides more time to work in one area.
One region usually works better than a rushed island-wide plan. You can spend more nights in the same area and reduce repeated transfers. This choice may also give you more time for early forest walks, night visits, or local reserve trips.
Kirindy Forest is another route option for travelers who want a night drive. Before adding it to a seven-day plan, check the costs in this guide to Kirindy Forest night drive packages. A special activity is worth the cost only when it fits your route.
Ask every operator for the same details. Request the number of nights, room type, transport style, guide service, park fees, meals, and activities. Then compare the total cost rather than the daily rate.
A quote becomes useful when you can see what you receive for the money. A lower total may remove a guide, meal, or transfer. A higher total may include better rooms or a private vehicle. The right choice depends on the trip you want, not only the first number.
Reviews can show how an operator handles road transfers, guides, meals, and changes. SafariFind lists verified operators and authentic reviews, so you can compare the service behind the price. Look for comments that match your own route and travel style.
One listed Madagascar operator, Madagascar Natural Tours, has a 4.7 out of 5 rating from 49 reviews on a Madagascar tour listing [5]. Ratings do not replace a quote, but they give you another point to check before booking.
Start planning 2027 travel while availability remains open. Set aside money for the deposit first, then track the balance deadline. The listed group tour example uses a 30% deposit and a 60-day balance date [3].
Do not spend the full safari budget before allowing for insurance and international flights. Those costs sit outside the core US$900 to US$1,500 estimate [1]. A separate reserve for travel changes also gives you more room to handle delays or route changes.
A simple seven-day Madagascar safari costs US$900 to US$1,500 per person in 2027. The estimate includes local transport, lodging, meals, park visits, guides, and activities. International flights and travel insurance are excluded [1].
The published seven-day budget includes US$300 to US$500 for accommodation, US$200 to US$350 for meals, US$150 to US$300 for park fees and guides, and US$300 to US$450 for activities and transport [1].
Luxury Madagascar trips start at about US$4,000 to US$7,000 or more per person. Private transport, higher-quality rooms, specialist routes, and added activities can place a trip well above the simple seven-day budget [1].
A single regional route is best for most seven-day trips. Eastern routes focus on rainforest and lemurs. Southern routes focus on reserves and walking. Northern routes combine island stays with marine activities, but extra transfers can raise the total cost.
One listed Madagascar group tour accepts a 30% deposit and requires the balance 60 days before departure. It also offers interest-free biweekly installments of US$92 [3]. Other operators may use different terms, so read each booking policy before paying.

A seven-day Madagascar safari costs US$900 to US$1,500 per person in 2027 before international flights and insurance. That budget works best for one focused region, simple lodging, shared transport, and planned activities. The main budget lines are US$300 to US$500 for rooms, US$200 to US$350 for meals, US$150 to US$300 for park fees and guides, and US$300 to US$450 for transport and activities [1].

"From start to finish, this tour was an unforgettable experience. When enquiring about planning this trip ,Tony was very responsive, informative and. answered all our questions as we went along .When my suitcase didn't arrive in Madagascar Tony sorted it for me and negotiated with the airline on my behalf, going above and beyond and was very much appreciated Our guides were all knowledgeable, friendly, and punctual and clearly passionate about what they do, which made the whole trip both fun and informative. The itinerary was perfectly balanced — we saw all the major highlights without ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and just soak up the atmosphere. The transportation was comfortable, everything ran smoothly and on time, and as it was a private tour we were able to spend as little or as much time at each place as we chose. Every stop had something unique to offer, and the insider stories and local tips really brought the culture to life. It’s rare to find a tour that gets every detail right, but this one truly did, guides were on time , transfers were smooth, everything was flexible to our wishes. Hugh thanks to Tony, Sidney, Princee and Nico. The drivers were all awesome and we always felt safe despite some roads been very African massage- bumpy ! We left with amazing memories, beautiful photos, and a much deeper appreciation for the country. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable experience. We would do it again in a heartbeat!"
"I highly recommend the Friendly Tour Guide Mada. The best cars I have seen on Madagascar, very clean, comfortable and modern. Drivers and tour guide are professionals! Very polite and helpful. Except 3 spots written in the description, expect visit to a very nice European restaurant with an amazing view! We are very happy, that we found this reliable tour operator. Thank you for everything ☺️"
"We have recently finished a 10 day tour of Madagascar in April 2025 using the operator “Madagascar Natural Tours” from start to finish it almost felt too good to be true, I have never met any one else from Australia who has been to Madagascar so we were very hesitant in whether it would be safe and had no idea how to organise a holiday there or what to expect. Harilala was extremely professional and communicative the entire way and answered every single (too many) questions of ours and made us feel comfortable and excited. He planned our itinerary just perfectly we listed a couple of things we had wanted to see - baobab avenue, lemurs and Nosy Be. He organised our whole itinerary, accomodation and flights for us so that it flowed seamlessly. He provided options in accomodation as we were seeking honeymoon style resorts. The hotels that he booked were beautiful, clean, great food and lovely staff! We had a few internal flights in our itinerary and it was so nice stepping off the plane and trusting that there would be a guide there waiting for us to get us to our hotel. The few times during our stay we had a question regarding our tour, Harilala would reply to our messages almost immediately and paid very careful attention to ensure we were happy and getting the most out of our tour. Using Madagascar Natural Tours took all stress out of the holiday / planning and allowed us to just show up and make memories of a lifetime! I would highly recommend this company to anybody curious to explore Madagascar! Particularly if you do not speak French, we struggled with the language barrier however all guides had amazing English which was such a relief. We can’t wait to come back in a few years time!!"
"We entrusted Harilala with our Madagascar tour, explaining what we wanted to see and visit. What can I say? He exceeded our expectations! Besides the wonderful tour, Solo and Fidele, our tour leaders, made the difference. We spent 20 days in Madagascar, and they flew by; everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back to see the southernmost part of the country."
