Tourists brought needed income, but if the tourists impacted the biodiversity through touching or feeding any of the wildlife, the wildlife would disappear, and with that, the tourists would no longer come. So protecting the lemurs and their natural habitat was of paramount importance for the sustainability of the enterprise. Knowing how fragile the ecosystems were helped us, as tourists, to respect the boundaries around our behavior, and enjoy the experience as precious and wild. Harilala was also knowledgeable about village crafts and culture, which brought a richness to our understanding of life in Madagascar. Everyone should visit Madagascar!
