Maasai Mara balloon safari prices in 2027 range from $420 to $635 per person for a sunrise flight. The best time for the Great Migration is July to October, when peak demand can raise prices. Compare what each rate includes before booking through a verified SafariFind operator.
One 2027 Maasai Mara balloon safari listing costs $635 per person sharing for travel in every month. That fixed rate gives travelers a clear benchmark, but other published prices sit lower. Research shows a wider range of about $420 to $635 per person [1].
Maasai Mara balloon safari prices 2027: What You Pay depends on the operator, season, and what comes after the flight. Some rates cover only the balloon ride. Others may include a game drive, a wilderness meal, or transfers from camp. Read the full booking terms before you compare totals.
The Kenya safari market has many ways to combine a balloon ride with a longer trip. You may add the experience to a stay in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, or fit it into a wider Kenya itinerary. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic reviews.
Quick answer: A Maasai Mara balloon safari costs $420 to $635 per person in 2027. A common published range is $450 to $550, while one fixed January to December rate is $635. July to October usually costs more because balloon slots are limited and Great Migration demand is high [1][2][3][5].
Prices often look simple on a search page. The final cost may not be simple. Ask whether the quote includes park entry, transport, breakfast, drinks, a certificate, and a return game drive. These details can change the value of a $450 flight compared with a $635 package.
Image suggestion: Use alt text such as “hot air balloon rising over the Maasai Mara at sunrise.” This describes the scene clearly and helps visitors who use screen readers.
A Maasai Mara balloon safari is an early-morning flight over the reserve, followed by services that differ by operator. The flight begins near sunrise, when the light is soft and wildlife activity is strong. Published listings describe the experience as an early morning activity [2].
The balloon ride gives you a high view of the Mara plains. You can see changing light, open grassland, and wildlife areas from above. The balloon does not follow a fixed road route, so the view differs from a normal vehicle game drive.
Balloon flights are usually planned before the main day begins. That timing matters for families and couples who want to keep the rest of the day for a game drive. It also means you need to prepare the night before. Ask your camp about the pickup time and meeting point.
Operators may combine the flight with a wilderness meal. One published 2027 guide warns that added game drives and wilderness meals can affect the full balloon-safari price [3]. These extras may suit travelers who want one long morning. They may cost more than a flight-only booking.
Every operator uses its own package rules, so check these points in writing:
A listing that costs $450 may include fewer services than a $635 listing. That does not make the lower price bad. It means you need to compare the same items before choosing a flight.
Travelers planning a longer stay can also review the 5-day Maasai Mara safari itinerary for 2027. A balloon flight often works best when your schedule leaves enough time for ground game drives too.
Compare 2027 Maasai Mara balloon safari packages by price and inclusions before you request a final quote.
Maasai Mara balloon safari prices in 2027 sit between $420 and $635 per person in published research. A standard comparison places many flights near $450 to $550, while AfricanMecca lists $635 per person sharing from January through December [1][2][7].
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Research range | $420 to $635 | Early morning activity | Not listed | Budget planning |
| AfricanMecca 2027 listing | $635 per person sharing | Early morning activity | Not listed | Travelers wanting a fixed annual benchmark |
| Standard operator comparison | About $450 to $550 | Morning flight | Not listed | Travelers comparing common rates |
| Peak season listing | $470 per person | Early morning activity | Not listed | July to October migration trips |
The table shows why you should not judge a flight by price alone. The $470 peak-season listing is below the $635 annual rate. However, the two pages may differ in meals, transport, park fees, or booking terms. Ask both operators for the same list of inclusions.
One operator lists $470 per person during the July to October peak season [5]. The same source lists children aged 5 to 11 at $350 in low and mid season, and $370 during peak season [5]. These child rates give families a useful starting point, but age rules still need confirmation.
July to October is the peak period for Great Migration travel in the Mara. Demand rises while balloon seats remain limited. One price source links higher July to October rates to migration demand and limited balloon slots [5].
Peak dates can sell before cheaper dates. If your trip falls in this period, ask for several quotes early. If your dates are flexible, compare the same flight in another month. The price gap may matter more than a small difference in camp location.
SafariFind can help you compare prices, operators, and traveler feedback in one place. Request quotes from verified safari operators for your 2027 budget and check whether each quote includes the same services.
Do not assume that a low price includes a full safari day. A balloon ride is one activity. You may still need accommodation, park access, meals, transport, and vehicle game drives. Build those costs into your full Kenya safari budget.
Book by first matching your travel dates with the season, then compare the full service list. A good quote names the flight price, child rate, pickup plan, meals, park fees, and cancellation rules. This simple check prevents a low headline rate from becoming a high final bill.
The launch time is early, so your camp location matters. A remote camp may require a long drive before sunrise. Ask the operator how pickup works and whether the quote includes that transfer. The answer can change both comfort and cost.
Compare quotes line by line. Start with the flight. Then check transport, food, park charges, and the game drive. A $550 package with breakfast and transport may offer better value than a $450 flight that leaves those items outside the quote.
Keep your booking confirmation and payment record. Ask what happens if bad weather stops the flight. Also ask if the operator offers another date, a refund, or a credit. The source material confirms daily departures for one listed tour, but availability and weather rules still depend on the operator [6].
Pregnant travelers should review the operator's safety rules before booking. One booking page lists pregnant women under its important information section [6]. Families should also confirm the minimum child age, since one published price list starts child rates at age five [5].
Maasai Mara National Reserve trips often include more than one game drive. You can compare a balloon activity with other Kenya options, such as a stay near Lake Elementaita or a wider route through Samburu National Reserve. Keep the balloon flight tied to your main route so you do not lose a full day to transfers.
For other 2027 planning ideas, see the guide to Maasai Mara safari prices by budget level. It can help you place the balloon cost inside the wider trip budget.
Nairobi is the usual planning point for many Kenya safari routes. Travelers may begin at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or connect through Wilson Airport. Your operator should confirm the exact transfer plan before you travel.
A balloon safari works best when you protect the morning schedule. Do not place a late arrival or long road transfer immediately before the flight. Give yourself time to reach camp, sleep, and attend the early pickup without rushing.
A Maasai Mara balloon safari is worth considering if you value a sunrise flight and a different view of the reserve. The experience costs $420 to $635 per person in 2027, so it is a major add-on. It makes the most sense when the price includes useful extras you already planned to buy.
The flight is a poor fit if your budget is tight and you have limited time for ground drives. A normal game drive lets you stay near wildlife on the roads. A balloon ride gives you height and silence, but it does not replace time on the ground.
Couples often choose the activity for a special morning. Families may focus more on age rules and safety details. Photographers should ask about basket space and landing plans. Every traveler should ask what the flight price includes.
Price range: $420 to $635 per person in 2027 [1].
Best for: Travelers who want a sunrise activity and can add it to a wider Mara stay.
Best time to visit: July to October for peak migration demand, though operators publish rates across other months too [2][5].
Getting there: Confirm camp pickup and launch transfers with the operator before payment.
One fixed listing charges $635 per person sharing from January through December [2]. That rate may suit travelers who want a clear benchmark. Other published figures show that lower prices exist, but the services may not match. The right choice depends on the complete quote, not the first number you see.
Read authentic reviews when possible. Look for comments about pickup times, staff communication, food, and the return game drive. SafariFind lets you review available packages and compare tour operators before you decide.
Image suggestion: Use alt text such as “travelers watching the Maasai Mara plains from a hot air balloon.” Use a second image alt text, “balloon safari breakfast after sunrise flight in Kenya,” for the landing meal if the package includes one.
A Maasai Mara balloon safari costs about $420 to $635 per person in 2027. A common published range is $450 to $550, while one operator lists $635 per person sharing for January through December [1][2][3].
July to October is the best period for travelers who want to pair a balloon safari with Great Migration travel. Demand is higher during these months, and one published rate lists $470 per person for the peak season [5].
A Maasai Mara balloon flight is an early-morning activity that begins around sunrise. Confirm the pickup time with your camp and operator because the launch point and transfer distance can change the morning schedule [2].
Children may have separate rates and age rules. One published price list gives children aged 5 to 11 a rate of $350 in low and mid season, and $370 during peak season [5]. Confirm the minimum age before booking.
The balloon safari price may include a wilderness meal, but this is not automatic. Published guidance says added game drives and wilderness meals can affect the total price, so ask the operator to list meals and transport in the quote [3].
Use SafariFind to compare available safari packages, review verified operators, and read authentic traveler feedback. Find your 2027 Maasai Mara balloon safari package and request a quote that lists every included service.
Maasai Mara balloon safari prices in 2027 range from $420 to $635 per person. The most common published range is $450 to $550, while one operator lists $635 across the full year [1][2][3]. July to October can cost more because Great Migration demand meets limited balloon space [5].
Choose a lower-priced flight when the included services match your needs. Choose a higher-priced package when it includes transport, a game drive, and a wilderness meal you would buy anyway. Families should confirm child prices, age rules, and safety terms before payment.
Plan the balloon ride as part of a wider Mara stay. Leave room for ground game drives, camp transfers, and rest before the early launch. Then compare quotes with the same questions and the same list of inclusions.

"We had an excellent safari experience with African Hagyko Safaris, and we were extremely satisfied with the entire trip from the planning stage to the very end of the safari. First of all, Bernard was outstanding throughout the whole process. His responses were always very quick, polite, and professional. We had quite a few requests and questions before the trip, including changes to the accommodation and itinerary, and he always listened carefully and did his best to accommodate our preferences. He handled everything efficiently and moved things forward very quickly, which made us feel that we were in reliable and capable hands. We really appreciated his flexibility and professionalism. Our driver-guide, Wachira, was also fantastic. He has extensive knowledge of wildlife and explained the animals and their behavior clearly, often adding some humor and jokes that made the game drives even more enjoyable. Whenever we had questions, he took the time to answer them thoroughly. What impressed us particularly was his ability to find the best possible position for wildlife viewing. Whenever something interesting was happening, he reacted quickly and positioned the vehicle extremely well, giving us some amazing views and photo opportunities. He can also speak a little Japanese, which was a nice surprise and may be especially reassuring for Japanese travelers. The accommodations were also excellent. We were very happy with all of the properties we stayed at. Mosquito protection was well arranged at each accommodation, which made us feel comfortable and secure, and the food was consistently delicious. And, of course, the wildlife experience itself was incredible. We were able to see the Big Five, as well as many other animals including crocodiles, hippos, giraffes, and many more. Unfortunately, we did not get to see a successful hunt from beginning to end, but we did witness predators chasing their prey and also saw animals feeding after a hunt. These were still fascinating and unforgettable experiences. Overall, we saw far more wildlife than we had expected and had many memorable encounters. In terms of price, their quotation was higher than some of the other safari companies we considered. However, after experiencing the safari ourselves, we felt that the quality and value we received actually exceeded the price we paid. The excellent coordination, knowledgeable and skilled guide, comfortable accommodations, private safari experience, and attention to our individual requests made the trip exceptionally worthwhile. Looking back, we are extremely satisfied with our decision to choose African Hagyko Safaris. We would definitely love to come back to Kenya and go on safari with them again. Whether you are visiting Kenya for your first safari or are already an experienced safari traveler, we can confidently recommend African Hagyko Safaris. They provided us with a well-organized, high-quality, and truly memorable safari experience. Thank you very much to Bernard and Wachira for making our trip so special!"

"Our 7 Days Best of Kenya Safari with Dallago Tours Kenya-Tanzania was an amazing experience from beginning to end. We traveled with our family, and having a private vehicle made the whole trip much more comfortable and flexible. The game drives were definitely the highlight of the safari. We saw elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes and many other animals in their natural environment. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and always made sure we had enough time to enjoy every wildlife sighting and take photos. The itinerary was well organized, the accommodation was comfortable and the food was good throughout the trip. We never felt rushed, and the guide explained a lot about the animals, parks and local culture along the way. Kenya is truly a beautiful country, and this safari gave us memories we will never forget. We are very happy that we chose Dallago Tours Kenya-Tanzania and would definitely recommend this 7-day safari to families, couples or anyone looking for a private and well-organized Kenya safari."
