Kenya's anti-poaching work combines Kenya Wildlife Service patrols, community conservancies, intelligence-led investigations and wildlife crime prosecutions. The approach has reduced some high-profile threats, but illegal grazing, bushmeat hunting, snares, trafficking and human-wildlife conflict remain serious problems.

One World Heritage property joins marine, wetland, coastal, estuarine, freshwater, and land habitats across 397,403 hectares. [1]
iSimangaliso Wetland Park 2027: Package Prices and Booking are easiest to compare when you separate the park stay from the wider route. The park lies on South Africa's east coast, about 235 km north of Durban by road. [3] It stretches along about 280 km of coastline. [3] That scale gives you more choice than a simple game drive holiday.
Known for: iSimangaliso combines coastal water, wetlands, lakes, estuaries, beaches, and land habitats within a transboundary World Heritage property. The wider iSimangaliso Wetland Park and Maputo National Park property covers 397,403 hectares. [1] You can build a short St Lucia stay, a two-park trip, or a longer route through northern South Africa.
The main price question is simple. How much will a 2027 package cost, and what does the rate include? Current benchmarks show packages from $180 per person. One listed three-night itinerary starts at R7,100 per person. [4] These figures help you compare offers, but you still need to check transport, meals, rooms, park fees, and activities.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic traveler reviews. This guide explains what the current figures mean, how to reach the park, and how to book without guessing what sits inside the price.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park is a large coastal protected area in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. A 2027 package can include park visits, St Lucia accommodation, wildlife drives, wetland activities, or links to nearby reserves. The right choice depends on trip length, room standard, transport, and the activities you want.
iSimangaliso Wetland Park includes marine, coastal, wetland, estuarine, freshwater, and terrestrial environments. [1] That mix changes the feel of the trip. You may spend one morning near Lake St Lucia, then travel toward a coastal area or a nearby reserve. The park is a strong fit for travelers who want more than one type of safari day.
iSimangaliso's coastline runs for about 280 km. [3] This matters when you plan transfers. A package that visits St Lucia alone is different from a route that crosses several park sections. Ask for the driving plan before you pay a deposit. A low headline price may cover one base, while a longer route adds road transfers and extra nights.
Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve is a useful add-on for a short safari route. A listed three-night package includes both iSimangaliso Wetland Park and Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, with prices from R7,100 per person. [4] That option works well if you want wetland scenery and game viewing without committing to a full week.
Travelers who want a wider route can compare iSimangaliso with [Kruger National Park](https://safarifind.com/destinations/kruger-national-park-1762715925564), [uMkhuze Game Reserve](https://safarifind.com/destinations/mkuze), or [Kosi Bay](https://safarifind.com/destinations/kosi-bay). Each link leads to a different travel idea, so check distances before combining several places.
Compare 2027 iSimangaliso safari packages and request a quote from verified operators.
iSimangaliso packages start at $180 per person in current research, while one listed three-night route starts at R7,100 per person. [4] A seven-day itinerary covering Kruger, Hluhluwe, and St Lucia starts at R32,995 per person. [4] Treat these figures as planning benchmarks, then check the full inclusions before booking.
| Package type | Published starting price | Duration | Areas included |
|---|---|---|---|
| Short multi-park package | From R7,100 per person | 3 nights | iSimangaliso Wetland Park and Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park |
| Long multi-park itinerary | From R32,995 per person | 7 days | Kruger, Hluhluwe, and St Lucia |
The table shows why package comparison needs care. The three-night rate and the seven-day rate cover different travel plans. A seven-day route has more nights, road time, and park areas. It should not be compared with a short stay by price alone.
Room type is one major cost factor. A simple lodge room, a private room, and a luxury lodge create different totals. Travel dates, group size, transport, and included activities also affect the final quote. [4] Ask for these details in writing, especially when two packages appear to offer the same number of nights.
Park fees and package rates need a fresh check for 2027. Current research includes 2027 accommodation and travel listings, but it does not confirm official changes to park fees or package rates. [4][5][7] A good operator should show the date of the quote and explain which costs can change before travel.
Makakatana Bay Lodge sits within iSimangaliso near Lake St Lucia, and current 2027 accommodation listings show why lodge choice matters. [7] You can also read our guide to [South Africa Cape Town and Safari itinerary costs for 2027](https://safarifind.com/blog/south-africa-cape-town-and-safari-itinerary-2027-cost) if you plan to combine the east coast with a wider South Africa trip.
Start by choosing the trip shape, then match the operator and package to it. A three-night route suits a short east coast break. A seven-day itinerary suits travelers who want iSimangaliso, Hluhluwe, St Lucia, and Kruger in one journey. Your first decision should be time, not room type.
Durban is a practical starting point because iSimangaliso is about 235 km north by road. [3] You can also plan a route around St Lucia, which keeps you close to key park areas. Ask whether your package begins with a hotel pickup, a private transfer, or a shared vehicle.
Durban itself can work as part of a longer route. SafariFind lists [Durban destination packages](https://safarifind.com/destinations/durban) for travelers who want city time before the park. Travelers who prefer another wildlife stop can also compare [Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve](https://safarifind.com/destinations/hluhluwe-imfolozi-game-reserve-1762715964888) before selecting a combined itinerary.
Three nights is a sensible short format for first-time visitors. It gives you time to reach the region, enjoy park activities, and visit Hluhluwe-iMfolozi on a listed route. [4] Seven days gives you more room for transfers and more than one major wildlife area, but it also raises the price to a listed starting point of R32,995 per person. [4]
| Trip goal | Useful starting plan | Why it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Short east coast safari | 3 nights | Combines iSimangaliso with Hluhluwe-iMfolozi |
| Broader South Africa safari | 7 days | Combines Kruger, Hluhluwe, and St Lucia |
| Coast and city holiday | Durban plus iSimangaliso | Links an urban stay with a coastal wetland park |
Known for: iSimangaliso is a mixed habitat destination rather than a single-purpose game reserve. Choose activities that match the habitats you want to see. A wetland trip may suit you if you enjoy water, birds, and coastal scenery. A combined route suits you if game drives matter most.
Families often benefit from a slower plan with fewer long road transfers. Couples may prefer a lodge-based stay near St Lucia. Photographers should ask about departure times, vehicle space, and time spent at each site. These details shape the trip more than the package name.
Use SafariFind to compare verified operators, package prices, and traveler reviews. Read the full itinerary before choosing the lowest rate. A cheap quote can become less useful if it leaves out transfers, meals, or key activities.
For another South Africa option, compare [7-day Kruger safari itineraries for 2027](https://safarifind.com/blog/7-day-kruger-safari-itinerary-2027-cost) or read about [Kruger walking safari prices and permits](https://safarifind.com/blog/kruger-walking-safari-packages-2027-prices-and-permits). These guides help you judge whether iSimangaliso should be the main trip or one part of a longer route.
Book iSimangaliso for the habitat mix, then confirm every practical detail. The park covers a large coastal area, so the lodge location and transfer plan affect your daily experience. Check the final 2027 quote, cancellation terms, and included activities before you commit.
Lodge location changes the amount of time you spend driving. A property near St Lucia may suit a short wetland stay. A route that adds Hluhluwe-iMfolozi or another reserve needs more transfer planning. Ask for a map or a day-by-day schedule if the itinerary covers several areas.
Accommodation rates can also change with room type. A private room may cost more than a shared room. A lodge stay may include meals or activities that a basic hotel does not. Compare the total trip cost, not only the first number in an advert.
A private transfer gives you more control over departure times. Shared transport may reduce the cost, but it can add waiting time. Ask how many travelers share the vehicle and how long each transfer takes.
The park's 280 km coastline makes a one-location plan different from a coast-to-coast route. [3] Keep long drives out of days when you want a boat trip or a game drive. A calm schedule usually gives you more time outdoors and less time packing bags.
SafariFind lists verified tour operators and authentic traveler reviews. Read comments about guides, vehicle condition, communication, lodge quality, and pickup times. A review that names a specific activity gives you more useful planning detail than a short rating alone.
Compare operators before you choose. Check whether the same package uses the same lodge, transport type, and activity list. Then ask for a written quote with a 2027 issue date. This simple step makes price comparisons much clearer.

"We made our reservations with 50% down-payment way back in Feb-26, 4 months before our trip in June and balance 50% one month before departure from Singapore. We were not sure and worried a bit whether things would turn out as described and promised, as this is our first ever trip to South Africa. All our worries disappeared from the moment we were picked up upon arrival according to the itinerary, and subsequent daily trips were excellent in view of timing, routes, transports, accommodations, meals, and to the local guides and drivers assigned. Everything is above and beyond our expectations, and we sincerely thank Safari Tailors for providing us such a memorable trip of our life!"
"Communications with Mack via email were swift and comprehensible. We were picked up at the airport on arrival by our guide, Thomas, who would be with us for the whole week. We signed up for a budget camping safari, and we had a great time! The campsites were nicer than I thought they would be, and the Kiliholidays team did a great job of taking care of us the whole trip. Thomas was very accommodating, and our 'stomach engineer' did a fantastic job the whole trip. My partner and I were very impressed by the quality of the food. Thomas was an incredible driver; a few times we had to stop and help other drivers who were stuck! This was my second visit to East Africa, and I will definitely book with Kiliholidays for my third trip :) A few tips for other travelers: The sleeping mattress was a bit thin for me (my partner had no trouble!), but I found that sleeping on my back instead of my side helped. If you have sensitive hips, I'd recommend bringing something to use as a cushion, or possibly arranging for an extra mattress. The tent was high-quality and the sleeping bags were warm. We stayed in Mto wa Mbu a few nights and it was quite hot there. We brought sleeping sacks (very thin) and used those instead. Bring LOTS of insect repellent and use it often (biting flies in the daytime, mosquitoes at night). Same with hand sanitizer (public campsite toilets don't usually have soap). Granola bars are a good idea, too, if you like to snack between meals. There's not a lot of access to ice, so if you like an evening adult-beverage, just ask your guide to stop before you leave Arusha to pick up some wine. We picked up a 5-liter box of South African wine for about 25euros and it was very convenient (bring your own cups!)."
"This is the second time I have traveled with my family with GoExplore. The first time was an amazing Uganda experience (already reviewed) and this second experience with my husband to Kenya was equally amazing. Brian organized organized both tours for me and tailored them according to my wishes. As this is still the time of unsure flights and Covid difficulties, he was easily able to adapt to some changes with travel that were beyond our control. GoExplore is a boutique business that is very personalized and offers you the equal and more than a large corporate operator. The price point is compatible with group tours but you will have your own personal driver and guide for yourself and there is nothing to compare with this luxury. Because of that, you will also be able to adapt your days schedule if you wish according what you want and not what is a groups plan. We were completely happy and satisfied with all aspects of our travel (on both trips). Brian knows the safari tour industry and is constantly working to improve the business, his knowledge about lodges, the parks, restaurants and all minute aspects of the tour. He will be able to personally attest to the quality of whatever product he is recommending to you. Sammi was our driver in Kenya and we can only say that he was amazing. He knew more about wildlife (and every birds name and details) than an encyclopedia, was an amazingly adept driver in sometimes rough conditions (traffic, rough park roads, etc.) and looked out for our interests. While respecting the animals, he went above and beyond trying to make sure we saw every different animal we could. We appreciated that he obviously respected and cared about the animals we were seeing. (Not all safari drivers do and will do anything to try to get to see something up close, even while encroaching too much on their space.) We had a minor vehicle difficulty and Sammi made sure that everything went smoothly and we didn't miss a minute of our trip or schedule. He is quite an asset to GoExplore. Sammi only drives on Kenya trips but if you go to Uganda, I highly recommend Moses who was equally great. Overall, the trip was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. If you haven't gone on a safari before, you should trip to put this on your life plan. There is nothing like it and when you plan it, you want a safari operator that will listen to your needs, wants, and budget and tailor it to fit you. GoExplore will do that in a personal way. Our lodges that Brian picked were magical and the food was outstanding. There was nothing about our trip that we would have changed. I highly recommend GoExplore if you want to travel to any of the countries they operate in. If not those countries, then reconsider them over the more commercialized ones (such as South Africa) and you won't be disappointed."
"We just finished a 2-week tour of South Africa with extension to Victoria Falls and the Monde Village Cultural Experience was one of the highlights of the entire trip. It is a must-do for anyone in the area. Tongesai (our guide) was very personable and worked with us to customize the experience. He was flexible and took time to explain many things that aren't part of the "regular tour". We had great conversations throughout the tour. He ended up dropping us off so late (8:30pm), his wife had to call him twice. He took a few pictures with us so he had alibi. :) Mr Ncube (our village host) and his family were welcoming and excited to show us their way of life. Mr Ncube's explanations of his culture, family structure, farming struggles, and discussions on many topics showed us a simple way of life, much different than our modern American ways, but it made so much sense. People here fight hard to live but they do it with a smile. They may be poor, but not in spirit. We asked many questions and received questions ourselves. It was as if I was visiting an uncle living in a rural part of a third-world country. This family made us felt at home. We wish we had more time to sit under the summer kitchen during a raining day, sharing food and chatting with these folks. We wish we could sit in the winter kitchen to hear him teach his children and grandchildren. Needless to say, we spent 4+ hrs at this experience and wanted more. I am now back to "civilization" in a nice Qatari hotel, but I kept thinking about my time in the simple Monde Village. What a breath of fresh air that was. I brought some extra clothes to give, but ended up giving as much as I could live without for the rest of my trip. A pair of sandals doesn't mean much to me, but it means a lot to people in these villages. This is 30+ hrs flight from home so it is a one-time chance to help; I had to make the best of it. If I can come back to this area, I will definitely bring more people to share in this amazing experience. I encourage all who come to Victoria Falls to add this cultural experience to their itinerary."
"Cultural Vibes Travel and Tours has proved to be excellent yet again as this is now the third time, we have used them and a much-needed break after almost 3 years with the Covid pandemic. Tongesai is extremely reliable, professional, knowledgeable and does everything to make your trip a memorable experience. Compared to local larger companies, Tongesai’s individual package rates are more reasonable and come with a customized touch. We felt that our holiday with Tongesai was much better and suited us more so than if we had booked through a larger company. His individual tailoring, personal involvement and attention to detail pays off in the smooth running of your trip. Our visits to the Victoria Falls, both sides from Zimbabwe and Zambia were magnificent and never cease to amaze us. On this trip Tongesai arranged for a private sunset cruise on the Zambezi just for our family of four instead of on the larger vessels, which was a very pleasant alternative. The boat trip in Chobe is magical and a must if you venture into Botswana. Wildlife was in abundance, including lion, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, puku, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, impala, gemsbok, steenbok, sable and roan antelope, etc. We even saw a relative of Cecil, the famous black-maned lion, ‘once a true king of Hwange National Park’. I have no hesitation in recommending the company for arranging tours in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana - we will definitely be seeing him again. He is currently setting up arrangements with colleagues in Kruger National Park to venture into South Africa and I wish him every success with that."
