A seven-day safari can cost more than $20,000, yet shared camping trips can start near $1,750 per person in 2026.
How Much Does a 7-Day Tanzania Safari Cost in 2026? A seven-day Tanzania safari costs about $1,750 to $20,000 per person, depending on camping, lodges, vehicle type, and flights. Budget trips often cost $1,800-$3,500, mid-range trips cost $2,800-$4,900, and luxury trips cost $5,500-$10,500 or more. Peak season costs more, while green-season travel can reduce prices by 15%-25% [1][3].
Tanzania safari prices in 2026 range from about $1,750 to more than $20,000 per person. The biggest price factors are accommodation, vehicle access, park fees, internal flights, season, and group size. A shared camping trip offers the lowest entry price. A private vehicle and luxury camps create the highest total.
For most travelers, a realistic seven-day Tanzania safari budget is $2,800-$4,900 per person. This mid-range level usually suits visitors who want lodges or quality tented camps, daily game drives, and a more comfortable vehicle plan. Exact inclusions differ, so compare each quote line by line [1].
Tanzania safaris are known for wide price differences between similar-looking itineraries. One estimate places safari costs between $250 and $1,500 per person per day. Over seven days, that equals roughly $1,750-$10,500 before some personal expenses [4].
Another 2026 estimate gives three broad bands: $1,200-$1,800 for budget travel, $2,500-$4,000 for mid-range travel, and $6,000-$15,000 or more for luxury travel [2]. These figures show why the phrase “Tanzania safari cost” needs a travel style attached to it.
The route also changes the price. A seven-day northern circuit trip may use several road transfers. A premium plan may include two internal flights, which raises the total but reduces driving time [5].

Compare 7-day Tanzania safari packages by price, duration, and inclusions
A seven-day Tanzania safari package usually costs more when it includes private transport, better camps, park fees, meals, and internal flights. A lower quote may use shared vehicles, basic camps, or fewer inclusions. Ask for a written list of what the price covers before you compare operators.
Budget camping safaris cost about $1,800-$3,500 per person for seven days [1]. Shared transport helps lower the daily vehicle cost. Basic camps or campsites also reduce accommodation costs. This style often works well for students, solo travelers joining a group, and younger adventurers.
Budget does not mean you should accept unclear service. Confirm the group size, camping equipment, meals, park fees, airport transfers, and guide plan. Also ask whether the quote includes drinking water and emergency support. Small missing items can affect your final spending.
Mid-range lodge safaris cost about $2,800-$4,900 per person for seven days [1]. This level is the most useful starting point for many travelers. It can offer permanent lodges, comfortable tented camps, private or small-group transport, and a clearer daily schedule.
A 2026 pricing guide places mid-range trips at about $2,500-$4,000, while another estimate places private lodge safaris at $4,000-$6,000 [2][4]. The difference often comes from camp quality, route design, private vehicle use, and season. Therefore, compare inclusions instead of comparing only the headline price.
A premium seven-day safari with a private vehicle, quality tented camps, and two internal flights costs about $5,000-$8,000 per person [5]. Luxury trips often cost $10,000-$15,000 or more. Premium and luxury estimates may include park fees and meals, but international flights remain extra [5].
One listed 2026 itinerary costs $5,062 per person for a January 3-February 6 departure period. That price includes $875 in park and camp fees. A June 2026 departure is listed at $5,512.50 per person [6]. These examples show how the season and itinerary date can change the final quote.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget camping | $1,800-$3,500 | 7 days | Not provided | Flexible travelers and shared groups |
| Mid-range lodge | $2,800-$4,900 | 7 days | Not provided | First-time visitors and couples |
| Premium private | $5,000-$8,000 | 7 days | Not provided | Private vehicles and quality camps |
| Luxury fly-in | $10,000-$15,000+ | 7 days | Not provided | High comfort and less road travel |
Use SafariFind to compare tour operators, review package details, and read authentic traveler feedback. Request a quote from verified Tanzania safari operators when your budget and travel dates are clear.
Extra Tanzania safari costs can add about $400-$600 per person for tips, visas, and insurance. International flights are usually separate. Your final budget should also allow room for personal spending, optional activities, and any route changes requested after the first quote [1].
Park and camp fees can form a large share of a premium itinerary. The listed 2026 example includes $875 in such fees within its $5,062 price [6]. A quote without a fee breakdown makes it harder to compare two operators fairly.
Peak-season Tanzania safaris may cost 15%-25% more than shoulder-season trips. Green-season prices may cost 15%-25% less than shoulder-season prices [3]. The exact dates and route still matter, so ask operators to show the seasonal rate in writing.
Peak season may suit travelers who want the strongest demand period for a route. Green season may suit travelers who want lower prices and more flexibility. There is no single best season for every visitor. Your choice should match your budget, dates, and comfort needs.
Customer service also affects value. Read SafariFind reviews and ask who handles problems after arrival. The guide to six customer-service checks for Tanzania safari companies can help you compare replies, emergency support, and booking terms.
Book a multi-day Tanzania safari online by setting a budget, choosing a travel style, checking inclusions, and comparing verified operators. Request a full itinerary before paying. A good quote states accommodation, vehicle type, park fees, meals, transfers, flights, cancellation terms, and excluded costs.
Start with the package cost, then add $400-$600 for likely tips, visas, and insurance [1]. Keep international flights outside the safari budget unless the operator includes them. This simple step prevents a low quote from becoming an expensive surprise.
Choose budget camping if price matters most. Choose mid-range lodges if you want comfort without luxury pricing. Choose premium or luxury travel if you value private transport, quality camps, and internal flights. Write this choice in your first quote request.
Do not compare two prices until you compare their inclusions. Check these points:
Fast replies do not always prove strong service. Ask clear questions and check whether the operator answers each one. Look for a named contact, a payment schedule, emergency support, and a clear complaint process. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews, which makes this research easier.
Travelers adding Zanzibar should compare the safari and beach parts separately. The guide to Tanzania safari and Zanzibar packages from the UK explains how to think about that combined trip. The same comparison method applies to travelers from Germany or other countries.
Health planning belongs on your checklist. Review current advice for your nationality and ask a qualified travel-health provider about recommended vaccinations. SafariFind’s guide to Tanzania vaccinations and health rules for Chinese travelers offers a starting point for that research.
Image suggestion: use a northern Tanzania game-drive image with the alt text “private safari vehicle on a seven-day Tanzania safari in 2026.” Use a second lodge image with the alt text “mid-range tented camp accommodation in Tanzania.”
Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, and Botswana offer different safari planning choices. This article does not assign a single winner because the best option depends on route, budget, accommodation, and trip length. Compare the full itinerary and service terms rather than relying on a country label alone.
Travelers comparing Kenya and Tanzania should request matched quotes. Use the same duration, accommodation level, vehicle type, and inclusions. Otherwise, a cheaper Kenya or Tanzania price may simply include fewer services. The same rule applies when comparing safari camps in Kenya versus Tanzania for 2026 or 2027.
A safari in South Africa or Tanzania can suit different travel goals. Ask each operator to explain the route, accommodation, transfer time, and price basis. Do not treat a country comparison as a substitute for a day-by-day plan.
Botswana versus Tanzania is also a budget question. Compare private vehicle access, camp type, internal flights, and seasonal rates. The Tanzania estimates in this guide range from $1,750 to $20,000 per person, so Tanzania itself covers many travel styles [1][4].
SafariFind helps you compare packages and tour operators using the details that matter: price, duration, reviews, and stated inclusions. Ask for two or three quotes with the same requirements. That approach gives you a fairer view of value.
A seven-day Tanzania trip costs about $1,750-$20,000 per person in 2026. Budget camping costs roughly $1,800-$3,500, mid-range lodge travel costs $2,800-$4,900, and luxury travel can cost $5,500-$10,500 or more [1]. Tips, visas, insurance, and international flights may cost extra.
A Tanzania safari typically costs $250-$1,500 per person per day. A seven-day trip therefore ranges from about $1,750 for shared budget camping to more than $10,000 for peak-season luxury travel [4]. Accommodation, vehicle type, flights, and season create the largest price differences.
The best time to visit Serengeti depends on your goals, dates, and budget. Peak-season travel usually costs more, while green-season pricing may be 15%-25% lower than shoulder-season pricing [3]. Ask an operator to explain the wildlife, weather, and price trade-offs for your exact dates.
The Serengeti migration best time depends on the exact area and travel dates. A Tanzania safari operator should match your route to the seasonal wildlife pattern. You should also compare peak, shoulder, and green-season prices because the season can change the cost by 15%-25% [3].
Tanzania safari and Zanzibar packages usually need a larger budget than a safari alone because they combine two travel components. Ask for separate safari and beach prices, transfer costs, accommodation names, and flight details. Travelers from the UK can use the 2026 package guide for planning context.
The best safari operators in Tanzania explain inclusions clearly, answer questions promptly, and provide reliable support. Compare verified operators on SafariFind, read authentic reviews, and request a detailed quote before payment. Check vehicle type, accommodation, fees, cancellation terms, and emergency contact details.
A seven-day Tanzania safari costs about $1,750-$20,000 per person in 2026. Most travelers should begin with a $2,800-$4,900 mid-range budget, then add $400-$600 for tips, visas, and insurance [1]. Budget camping can lower the package price. Premium travel can reach $5,000-$8,000, while luxury trips can exceed $10,000 [5].
Compare peak-season and green-season dates before you decide. Green-season rates may be 15%-25% lower [3]. Also check park fees, flights, vehicle type, and camp quality. A detailed quote protects your budget better than a low headline price.
Compare verified safari packages on SafariFind, read authentic reviews, and request a quote from a verified operator. In 2026, careful comparison remains the simplest way to find a Tanzania safari that fits your budget and travel style.

"Exceeded expectations and then some!!! From the planning stages to the final airport drop off, Kiliholidays was there supporting us every step of the way! For some situational awareness, earlier this year my friend and I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of doing a safari in Tanzania. So there we were, two American women with no real knowledge of what this trip would entail, preparing to make a substantial investment in ourselves and our dream trip. Neither of us knew anyone who'd done a safari so we made up our own rules when it came to planning. Kiliholidays met all of our search criteria but it was the quality of communication that we had with Mack that had us convinced very quickly that we'd found our tour group. We were not wrong. Kiliholidays took care of us every step of the way and for two women traveling alone in unfamiliar territory, it's a big deal to feel safe. We felt very safe with this team, and what an experience we had!!! Steve our tour operator was fantastic! Not only was the safari absolutely incredible regarding the animals we saw, but we met people, we had amazing food thanks to Chef D, and we just had a ton of fun. When we weren't in complete awe at the beauty that surrounded us, or learning lessons that we could have never picked up on the Discovery Channel, we were laughing and exchanging stories, and generally just enjoying the thrill of the adventure. I can say that after this trip I finally understood what people mean when they talk about the bucket list. I've traveled a lot, all over the world, and I've never had an experience like this. We are already talking about another tour in the future! Thank you Mack, Steve and Chef D for bringing a dream we've had for a long time into reality!"

"In June of 2025 I went on my second safari in Tanzania with Kiliholidays, and it was even better than the first! The management took great care and a great deal of time to customize my 6-day safari to meet my needs, which included almost 4 days in the Serengeti. They had the patience to deal with dozens of messages and questions I sent prior to booking, and addressed all of my concerns. They booked us into the Embalakai tented camp in the Serengeti, meaning we were able to stay out on the game drive until it was almost dark. This made for excellent photo opportunities near sunset! Embalakai is a high-quality tented camp with amazing food and friendly staff. I believe that Kiliholidays provides very good to excellent accommodation and safari service at very competitive prices - it's one of the most affordable options out there, short of sleeping in campgrounds (which we did not do). The best part is that our guide and driver, Thomas, is extremely experienced, knowledgeable, and flexible: an all-around good man and a real pleasure to ride with for 6 days! Unless you want to spend thousands of dollars more, go with Kiliholidays and you won't be disappointed."

"Before my trip to Tanzania I mailed many tour oerators to find perfect safari for me and my friend and at the end I decided to book safari with Kiliholidays Tours & Safaris. The communication with Mack was without any problems. After I came to Arusha we met in his office and agreed all details about safari. There weren't any hidden cost and any bad surprises. Our trip went smoothly exactly like in a programme I got before. That was budget safari and we were supposed to join to other tourists but there weren't any other clients so we had private safari and the price didn't change. The service was really good - competent driver/guide and really talented cook. We spent wonderful time and discovered a beauty of Tanzania."

"My recent safari adventure with Kiliholidays Tours & Safaris was nothing short of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the moment we embarked on our journey, the team ensured that we were well taken care of, providing exceptional service and value for money. Our knowledgeable and skilled guide, Edward, went above and beyond to provide us with an unforgettable wildlife experience. His expertise and passion for wildlife shone through, and I'd rate him 11/10 stars. Not only did he know where to find the most spectacular sightings, but he also shared intriguing stories and facts about the animals we encountered. In addition to our incredible guide, Mr. Mood, our talented cook, made sure our culinary experience was top-notch. As a vegetarian, I was delighted by the variety of delicious dishes he prepared, especially his signature fresh onion soup. It's evident that he takes great pride in his work, ensuring that every meal was not only tasty but also nourishing. Before our trip, we communicated with Mack from Kiliholidays, who was extremely responsive and helpful on both WhatsApp and email. The itinerary he crafted was professionally designed and visually captivating, making it worthy of Instagram. Mack also offered us a fantastic price for the trip, making it 100% worth every penny. The entire journey was well-planned and executed seamlessly, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the Tanzanian experience. Overall, I highly recommend Kiliholidays Tours & Safaris for anyone looking to experience the magic of Tanzania. Their commitment to excellence in communications, service, value for money, and reliability is unparalleled. Don't miss out on the opportunity to embark on this unforgettable adventure!"
