At Victoria Falls, you can sit beside one of the world's largest waterfalls and swim near its edge on the same day.
Devil's Pool Packages 2027: Cost and Best Visit Dates depend on the tour time, meal option, and add-ons you choose. Guided trips leave from Livingstone Island on the Zambia side of Victoria Falls. Prices listed for 2027 include US$120 for a 1.5-hour Livingstone Breezer, US$165 for High Tea, and US$190 for Lunch. Visit between mid-August and mid-January, with October and November offering the lowest water levels.
Devil's Pool Packages 2027: Cost and Best Visit Dates describe guided visits to a natural rock pool beside Victoria Falls. The pool sits at Livingstone Island on the Zambia side of the Zambezi River. Visitors reach it by boat and enter the water with trained guides. The trip combines a river crossing, a short walk over rocks, and time near the waterfall rim. [1]
Devil's Pool is a seasonal experience. Water levels must fall enough for guides to reach the pool safely. The main visiting window runs from mid-August to mid-January. October and November are especially popular because the water is usually at its lowest and the current is gentler. [1][2]
Devil's Pool is known for its position near the edge of Victoria Falls. The pool is not a free-swimming area. Guides control access, explain the route, and manage the time in the water. That matters because the river changes with the season. Your guide also decides whether conditions allow the activity on the day.
Livingstone Island is the departure point for the guided boat ride. Tours run five times each day from June through December, according to the listed schedule. The schedule includes early morning, late morning, lunch, and afternoon options. [1]
Victoria Falls changes a lot during the year. High water creates heavy spray and powerful flow across the falls. Lower water exposes the rock ledges and creates access to Devil's Pool. The same seasonal change that helps the swim can reduce the full curtain of water visible from some viewpoints.
September is a useful middle ground for travelers who want both strong falls and a chance of visiting the pool. October and November suit travelers whose main goal is the swim. Mid-December and early January can still work, but water conditions remain weather dependent. [2]

Devil's Pool packages cost US$120 to US$190 for the listed guided Livingstone Island options in 2027. The lowest listed price is the 1.5-hour Livingstone Breezer at US$120. High Tea costs US$165 for two hours, while the 2.5-hour Lunch tour costs US$190. [1]
The Livingstone Breezer is the shortest listed option. It costs US$120 and departs at 7:30, 9:00, or 10:30. This package suits travelers who want the pool without giving up most of the day. The early departures also help you avoid the strongest midday heat. [1]
The High Tea tour costs US$165 and lasts two hours. It leaves at 15:30. This time works well for travelers who spend the morning viewing Victoria Falls or arriving from another activity. Afternoon light can also suit photos, although spray and cloud cover change quickly.
The Lunch tour costs US$190 and lasts 2.5 hours. It leaves at 12:30. This option gives you more time around Livingstone Island and includes a midday meal setting. It costs US$70 more than the Breezer, so compare the extra time and meal against your plans. [1]
A separate listed Devil's Pool product costs HK$2,543 and lasts three hours. The price uses Hong Kong dollars, so the final amount in US dollars depends on the exchange rate and booking platform. Check what the product includes before comparing it with the US dollar prices above. [5]
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Livingstone Breezer | US$120 | 1.5 hours | Not listed | Short visits and early starts |
| High Tea tour | US$165 | 2 hours | Not listed | Afternoon visits |
| Lunch tour | US$190 | 2.5 hours | Not listed | Extra island time and lunch |
| Devil's Pool tour | HK$2,543 | 3 hours | Not listed | Travelers seeking a longer listed tour |
Some travelers add an aerial or adventure activity to their Victoria Falls visit. Listed prices for November 7, 2027 include US$92 for ziplining, US$112 for the Gorge Swing, and US$77 for the Canopy Tour. These prices are separate from the Devil's Pool tour. [3]
Budget for more than the headline tour price. You may need to account for transfers, meals, entry charges, tips, travel insurance, and visa costs. One listed Livingstone Island product excludes Zambia visa fees, return transfers priced at US$40 per person, personal spending, gratuities, and travel insurance. [7]

The best time to visit Devil's Pool is mid-August through mid-January. October and November are the strongest choices for a swim because water levels are often lower and the current is gentler. Guides still make the final decision because river conditions can change after rain or other weather events. [1][2]
August marks the start of the main access period. Water levels begin to recede, but conditions can vary by year. Mid-August is a better target than early August if Devil's Pool is the main reason for your trip.
September offers a useful balance. Victoria Falls can still carry strong flow, while access to the pool often improves. This month suits travelers who want waterfall views as well as a chance to swim. It also works well for combining the activity with a wider Zambia safari.
October is one of the best months for Devil's Pool. Water levels are usually low enough for access, and the current is often gentle. Days can feel hot, so an early morning Livingstone Breezer may be easier than a midday departure.
November is another top month for the pool. The water is often at a low point, which makes the rock ledges easier to reach. The listed zipline, Gorge Swing, and Canopy Tour rates also give adventure travelers clear add-on choices for November 7, 2027. [3]
December can still offer access, especially early in the month. Rain patterns can begin to change conditions, so keep your schedule flexible. January is the end of the main window in this guide. Confirm access shortly before travel.
| Traveler type | Best months | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Swimmers | October to November | Lower water and a gentler current are often available. |
| Photographers | September to October | These months can balance falls flow and pool access. |
| Full-day visitors | August to December | Several tour times support wider Victoria Falls plans. |
| Adventure travelers | October to November | Pool visits pair well with listed zipline and swing options. |
Best time to visit:
Travelers planning more time in Zambia can compare this stop with a Lower Zambezi safari itinerary or a five-day Kafue National Park package. Both options help turn a short Victoria Falls visit into a longer trip.
Plan a Devil's Pool visit by choosing a seasonal date, a guided tour time, and a transfer plan. The activity starts with a boat trip to Livingstone Island, then continues across uneven rocks. You should book with a confirmed operator and check the physical demands before paying. [1][3]
Victoria Falls is the main destination for the activity. The Zambia-side entry point is Livingstone. Many visitors arrive through Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport, then use a hotel transfer or a tour operator vehicle to reach the departure point.
Livingstone Island is reached by guided boat. You do not visit Devil's Pool independently. Guided access helps staff check river conditions, lead the rocky walk, and manage the time near the rim. [1]
Victoria Falls also offers several other ways to fill your trip. You can set aside a separate day for viewpoints, a river cruise, or a longer Zambia safari. This approach gives you a backup plan if pool access changes.
Water shoes or shoes that can get wet are recommended. The route includes uneven, rocky terrain and moderate to high physical activity. You do not need to be a strong swimmer for the excursion, but you should feel comfortable around moving water and follow every guide instruction. [3]
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews. You can also compare a Devil's Pool visit with a Zambia safari package under US$2,000, if your wider trip has a strict budget.
Devil's Pool is an active river excursion, not a casual hotel swim. The pool may close when water conditions become unsafe. Do not enter the water outside the guided tour. Listen when staff set boundaries, and do not lean beyond the safe area for a photograph.
Physical effort is part of the experience. The rocky approach can challenge travelers with balance, joint, or mobility concerns. Ask the operator for a clear route description before booking. A shorter tour may suit you better than a longer meal package if you tire quickly.
October is one of the best months to visit Devil's Pool. Water levels are usually low, and the current is often gentle. November offers similar conditions. The wider access season runs from mid-August to mid-January, but guides confirm access on the day. [1][2]
A Devil's Pool tour costs US$120 to US$190 for the listed 2027 Livingstone Island options. The Livingstone Breezer costs US$120, High Tea costs US$165, and Lunch costs US$190. A separate listed three-hour product costs HK$2,543. [1][5]
Listed Devil's Pool packages last 1.5 to 3 hours. The Livingstone Breezer lasts 1.5 hours, High Tea lasts two hours, Lunch lasts 2.5 hours, and another listed product lasts three hours. Check whether the duration includes the boat ride and meal service.
You do not need to be a strong swimmer for the listed excursion, but you must feel comfortable around moving water. The route includes a boat ride, wet rocks, and moderate to high physical activity. Guides lead the group and set safety limits. [3]
Wear secure water shoes or footwear that can get wet. The approach includes uneven, rocky terrain. Quick-drying clothes, sun protection, and a small waterproof bag are useful. Ask your operator about storage for phones, cameras, and other valuables. [3]

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
