Busanga Plains is a remote area in Kafue National Park. The landscape has open grasslands, seasonal water channels, and large groups of antelope. Lions are a major draw, while lechwe and puku often gather across the plains. Hippos and water birds use the channels that cross this unusual floodplain [4].
This guide explains Busanga Plains Safari 2027 package prices by season. It covers what the price includes, how park fees affect your budget, and how to choose a suitable safari length. It also explains what to check before you request a quote from a tour operator.
Quick answer: A Busanga Plains safari in 2027 costs from USD 1,448 per person sharing for the main June–October season. Kafue National Park adds a reported USD 20 entrance fee per person. Choose this period for dry weather, open views, and strong chances of seeing lions and large antelope groups.
Busanga Plains Safari 2027 is a wildlife trip into the remote northern floodplain of Kafue National Park. The safari focuses on open grassland drives, lion sightings, antelope herds, and water-based wildlife habitats. Published pricing starts at USD 1,448 per person sharing for the 2027 operating period from June through October.
Busanga Plains is known for broad, open grasslands that change with the seasons. The plains support large concentrations of lechwe and puku. Water channels add habitat for hippos and water birds. These features create a different safari setting from dense woodland or riverbank areas [4].
Busanga Plains lions are one of the area’s main wildlife highlights. Open ground makes distant movement easier to scan. Early morning and late afternoon drives can give you the best light for photographs. However, wildlife sightings remain wild and never follow a fixed schedule.
The 2027 Busanga Bush Camp rate is USD 1,448 per person sharing. The listed rate is described as “Fully Inclusive Plus,” but you should still confirm every inclusion before paying a deposit. Ask about transfers, drinks, activities, park fees, conservation charges, and flights.
The 2026 comparison rate was USD 1,366 per person sharing for the same 1 June–31 October dates. The USD 82 increase provides a useful planning signal for travelers who are setting a 2027 budget early [2]. Prices can change when operators update transport, staff, or seasonal costs.

A Busanga Plains safari costs from USD 1,448 per person sharing during the published June–October 2027 season. Broader Kafue packages start at about USD 750, while luxury Zambia safari estimates range from USD 1,100 to USD 2,530 per person per night. Your final total depends on camp level, transport, and inclusions [1][2].

June to October is the clearest period for comparing published Busanga prices. The current listed rate applies across these months rather than using separate monthly prices. Therefore, an operator quote may still differ because of flights, road transfers, private vehicles, room type, or extra nights.
Busanga Bush Camp describes its 2027 rate as Fully Inclusive Plus [2]. The phrase sounds broad, but each operator defines inclusions in its own way. Confirm the details in writing before booking. A clear quote should show the items below:
Kafue National Park’s reported entrance fee is USD 20 per person [1]. Ask whether this fee sits inside the advertised package or appears as a separate line. A low headline price can become less useful when transfers and park charges arrive later.
A Kafue package starts at about USD 750, but a Busanga Plains camp rate can sit higher because of its remote setting and lodge services [1][2]. Luxury Zambia safari estimates reach USD 2,530 per person per night at the highest end [1]. These figures are not interchangeable, so compare the same length and inclusions.
For a wider view, read the first-timer’s guide to Kafue safari costs and fees. It helps place Busanga’s camp rate beside other Kafue travel costs.
Travelers with a firm budget should compare like for like. Find 2027 Busanga Plains packages with clear prices and inclusions before deciding whether a shared vehicle, private vehicle, or longer stay offers better value.
The best season for a Busanga Plains safari is June to October 2027. This period matches the published Busanga Bush Camp rate and offers the dry-season setting most visitors want. Open grasslands, visible water channels, and strong lion interest make these months the main planning window [2][4].
June and July are useful months for travelers who want the published 2027 rate period. The plains remain the central attraction, with open views of grazing lechwe and puku. Ask the operator how local water levels affect routes, since water conditions shape access across floodplain areas.
August, September, and October fall within the same published price window. These months suit travelers who value dry-season safari conditions and focused wildlife viewing. Demand can rise for limited remote camps, so early planning gives you more choice of dates and room types.
Seasonal price information does not guarantee identical availability. A camp can have a published rate while selected dates fill quickly. Request the full 2027 calendar, then check its cancellation terms, deposit rules, and transfer plan.
Busanga Plains is best for visitors who enjoy remote wildlife areas and open landscapes. It suits photographers, repeat safari guests, and travelers who want a quieter experience than heavily visited parks. Families should ask about minimum ages, drive times, and room layouts before selecting a camp.
Busanga Plains can also form part of a longer Zambia journey. One listed 11-day itinerary combines Kafue National Park and Busanga Plains with Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa [3]. Travelers considering that route can read Lower Zambezi safari package costs by season before building a multi-park plan.
Start by choosing your travel dates, safari length, and comfort level. Then compare the full cost, not only the nightly rate. A good 2027 plan confirms transport, park fees, meals, activities, emergency support, and cancellation terms before you pay.
Decide what matters most to you. Do you want lion sightings, photography, quiet landscapes, or a wider Zambia circuit? Your answer affects the right camp, vehicle style, and number of nights. A short stay may suit a focused wildlife trip, while a longer route can spread transport costs across several parks.
The published Busanga Bush Camp rate covers 1 June–31 October 2027 [2]. If you want to travel outside these dates, ask whether the camp operates then and whether a different rate applies. Never assume that a June–October price carries into another season.
Use this checklist when reviewing an operator proposal:
Busanga Plains works well as a focused Kafue visit or as part of a longer Zambia safari. A Kafue walking trip may appeal to active travelers, while a multi-park route adds more variety. Compare the Kafue walking safari package guide if walking interests you.
Travelers who prefer a shorter route can also review the 5-day Kafue safari itinerary and cost guide. It can help you judge whether a compact itinerary leaves enough time for Busanga’s remote setting.
Pack light, neutral clothing and layers for cool mornings. Include sun protection, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and a small first-aid kit. Bring camera batteries and storage cards because remote camps may have limited charging options. Confirm luggage limits with your operator before travel.
Plan with patience. Remote safari travel depends on roads, water, weather, and aircraft schedules. Keep a small time buffer between connections. Your operator should explain the transfer plan in simple terms before you confirm.
A Busanga Plains safari starts at USD 1,448 per person sharing for the published Busanga Bush Camp rate from 1 June to 31 October 2027 [2]. Broader Kafue packages start at about USD 750, but transport, accommodation, and included services change the final price [1].
The best time to visit Busanga Plains is June to October 2027. This period matches the published camp rate and supports dry-season viewing across open grasslands, where visitors look for lions, lechwe, and puku [2][4].
Busanga Plains is known for lions, large concentrations of lechwe and puku, hippos, and water birds. The open grasslands help guides scan for predators, while water channels provide habitat for hippos and aquatic bird species [4].
The reported Kafue National Park entrance fee is USD 20 per person [1]. Inclusion depends on the operator and package. Ask for a written cost breakdown that shows park fees, conservation charges, transfers, and taxes.
Yes, Busanga Plains can form part of a longer Zambia safari. One listed 11-day itinerary combines Kafue National Park and Busanga Plains with Lower Zambezi and South Luangwa [3]. A longer route adds variety but requires careful transfer planning.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
