Botswana safari itineraries in 2026 range from five to ten days across the Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park, and nearby wildlife areas. A five-day trip suits first-time visitors with limited time, seven days gives the best balance, and ten days allows slower travel across several regions. Listed prices include US$3,480 per person sharing for a five-day Chobe-and-Okavango package, US$2,426 for a 10-day family tour, and US$7,295 for a 7-day premium itinerary.
Botswana Safari Itineraries: 5, 7 or 10 Days in 2026 give travelers three clear ways to explore the country. The Okavango Delta offers water and land habitats. Chobe National Park adds river-based wildlife viewing. Longer trips can also include Moremi, the Kalahari, or Victoria Falls.
Choosing the right length matters because Botswana uses large, remote safari areas. Transfers may involve small aircraft, boats, or long road journeys. Therefore, adding days does more than extend the holiday. It gives you more time in camp and reduces the pressure to move each morning.
Quick answer: Seven days is the best all-round Botswana safari itinerary in 2026. Choose five days for a focused Okavango Delta and Chobe trip. Choose ten days if you want three regions, a family-friendly pace, or time for Victoria Falls. Listed 2026 prices range from US$2,426 to US$7,295.
TourRadar lists Botswana safari options lasting five, six, seven, eight, and ten days for 2026 and 2027. [2] A separate Botswana travel guide describes six to seven days as a classic first visit, with the Okavango Delta combined with Chobe or Moremi. [3]
This guide compares the three most useful trip lengths. It explains what each plan includes, how to choose between them, and what questions to ask before paying a deposit. You can also review the wider Botswana safari best-time guide for 2026 before setting your dates.
Five-, seven-, and ten-day Botswana safari itineraries are structured trips through major wildlife areas. Five days focus on two regions. Seven days combine a wider mix of land and water activities. Ten days create room for three areas, longer stays, and optional Victoria Falls extensions.
Five days is a focused introduction. The most efficient plan combines Chobe National Park with the Okavango Delta. This format suits travelers who want two major ecosystems without adding a long holiday. SafariFind lists a five-day Chobe-and-Okavango package at US$3,480 per person sharing. [5]
Seven days is the strongest balance. A six- to seven-day first-timer route usually combines the Okavango Delta with Chobe or Moremi by light aircraft. [3] You get land-based game drives, water activities, and enough nights to settle into the safari rhythm.
Ten days is the deeper option. An eight- to ten-day plan can combine the Okavango Delta, Chobe, and Victoria Falls. [3] It suits visitors who want more variety and fewer rushed connections. A 10-day family safari listed by Intrepid shows a price of US$2,426 on sale, reduced from US$2,695; the displayed lowest price was dated July 31, 2026. [4]
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chobe and Okavango package | US$3,480 per person sharing | 5 days | Not stated | Two-region first visit |
| Botswana family safari with teenagers | US$2,426 sale price | 10 days | 5/5 listed | Families seeking a longer route |
| Premium Botswana itinerary | US$7,295 | 7 days | Not stated | Premium travelers and comfort |
Prices are not directly equal because the tours use different styles, routes, and inclusions. A premium trip may include higher-end camps or more private services. A family tour may use a different country mix and hotel plan. Compare inclusions, not only the headline price.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews. Compare Botswana safari packages by duration and price to find a route that fits your schedule.
Okavango Delta safaris combine water and land experiences. Chobe adds another setting and can support a river-focused plan. Moremi adds further Delta access. The right itinerary therefore depends on whether you value variety, quiet camp time, family ease, or a premium pace.
Travelers who want a clear regional comparison can read Botswana safari packages by region. That guide helps explain the difference between the Delta, Chobe, and Kalahari before you choose a route.
A five-day Botswana safari should focus on two areas, not three. The best use of five days is a Chobe and Okavango Delta combination, with enough nights in each area for both game drives and water-based activities.
The exact sequence depends on flight schedules, camp locations, and your arrival airport. Ask the operator how much time each transfer takes. A short itinerary loses value when most of one day goes to transport.
Known for: A five-day route is known for speed, two ecosystems, and a clear wildlife overview.
Best for: First-time safari travelers, short vacation windows, and visitors adding Botswana to a larger Africa trip.
Price range: The listed SafariFind example costs US$3,480 per person sharing for five days. [5]
A five-day itinerary gives less flexibility if weather or flight delays change the plan. It also leaves less time to enjoy camp life. However, the format works well when every day has a clear purpose and the operator limits unnecessary road transfers.
Ask these questions before booking:
Five days is not the best choice for every traveler. Families, photographers, and visitors flying long distances may prefer seven or ten days. A longer trip spreads travel effort across more nights and gives you more chances for varied sightings.
Seven days is the best Botswana safari length for most first-time visitors because it balances route variety, activity time, and travel effort. A seven-day plan can include the Okavango Delta plus Chobe or Moremi, without forcing three major stops into one short holiday.
The seven-day format gives you time to experience different habitats. It also creates a better buffer for transfers than a five-day trip. Travelers can choose a simpler two-area route or add a third stop if the operator provides efficient flights.
Known for: Seven-day Botswana safari itineraries are known for balance between Delta water activities and land game drives.
Best for: Couples, first-time visitors, photographers, and travelers who want variety without a ten-day commitment.
Travel style: Light aircraft transfers, small camps, open safari vehicles, and guided water activities are common planning points.
Intrepid lists a seven-day Premium Botswana itinerary covering Namibia and Botswana at a displayed price of US$7,295. [4] This example shows why route design and service level matter. A seven-day premium trip is not directly comparable with a basic five-day package.
Some travelers also combine Botswana with Victoria Falls. An Oregon State University itinerary schedules Victoria Falls for May 30 to June 1, Chobe National Park for June 2 to 4, and South Luangwa National Park for June 5 to 7, within a 14-calendar-day program that includes international travel. [1]
Use the seven-day plan when you want Botswana to be the main focus. Add Victoria Falls only when you accept the extra transfers and total travel time. You can compare costs and inclusions with the 2026 Botswana package inclusions guide.
For travelers with a firm budget, compare 7-day Botswana safari packages by inclusions and request quotes from verified operators before choosing a camp.
A ten-day Botswana safari suits travelers who want more time, more regions, or a slower pace. Ten days can combine the Okavango Delta, Chobe, and Victoria Falls, while still leaving room for rest and repeated activities.
The route should match your energy and transfer tolerance. Ten days does not require a new camp every two nights. You can spend more nights in fewer places, which often makes the trip easier for families and older travelers.
Known for: Ten-day itineraries are known for wider regional coverage and slower travel.
Best for: Families, photographers, repeat safari guests, and travelers combining Botswana with another landmark.
Price range: One listed Intrepid family safari costs US$2,426 on sale in 2026, while other tour styles cost much more. [4]
An 11-day, 10-night mobile-camping itinerary accommodates a maximum of 12 travelers. It includes open-vehicle travel and mokoro canoe excursions. [8] Although this trip lasts longer than ten days, it shows how mobile camping can offer a more active and intimate way to connect several Botswana experiences.
Mobile camping is different from a permanent luxury lodge. Ask about tent size, camp staff, bathroom facilities, meal arrangements, and the number of nights in each location. A small group may improve the camp feel, but it does not automatically mean a private departure.
Ten days also gives you time to build a better arrival and departure plan. For example, you can avoid placing an international flight immediately after a remote air transfer. Confirm the full route, not just the number of safari nights.
The most important booking checks cover price, transfers, activities, camp type, and safety. A clear itinerary should state what happens each day and what the package includes.
Safari prices in 2026 vary sharply between family, standard, mobile-camping, and premium trips. The listed examples range from US$2,426 for a 10-day family safari to US$7,295 for a seven-day premium itinerary. [4] A five-day SafariFind package is listed at US$3,480 per person sharing. [5]
Review these cost items:
Read the full Botswana safari cost calculator for 2026 before comparing quotes. A low headline price may exclude flights or park fees. A higher quote may include more services and fewer extra payments.
Ask how many hours each transfer takes and whether the route uses a light aircraft. A five-day plan needs efficient connections. A ten-day plan lets you reduce movement and enjoy more time at camp.
Confirm the activity mix before paying. Some travelers want daily game drives. Others want mokoro trips, boat rides, walking activities, or time at a lodge. The words “Okavango Delta” do not guarantee every water activity.
SafariFind helps travelers compare verified tour operators and read authentic reviews. Look for clear terms, recent traveler feedback, named camps, and a detailed cancellation policy. You can also use these six checks for Botswana safari companies when reviewing a quote.
Safety planning matters in remote areas. Ask who manages transfers, what emergency support exists, and how guides handle medical needs. Read nine questions about Botswana safari safety before you finalize your operator.
Finally, plan a realistic personal budget. Gratuities, drinks, laundry, and souvenirs may sit outside the package. A written quote gives you a better basis for comparing operators.
Five days is enough for a focused Botswana safari in two areas. A Chobe and Okavango Delta route gives you a short introduction to land and water wildlife experiences. It offers less flexibility than seven or ten days, so confirm transfer times and included activities before booking.
Seven days is enough for the Okavango Delta and Chobe when the operator plans efficient transfers. A Botswana travel guide describes six to seven days as a classic first-timer route combining the Delta with Chobe or Moremi. [3] This length gives a strong balance for most visitors.
A Botswana safari costs different amounts based on duration and service level. Listed 2026 examples include US$3,480 per person sharing for five days, US$2,426 for a 10-day family safari, and US$7,295 for a seven-day premium itinerary. [4][5] Compare inclusions before judging value.
A Botswana safari itinerary may include lodging, meals, guided game drives, park fees, transfers, and water activities. The exact package differs by operator. Ask whether light aircraft flights, mokoro trips, conservation fees, airport transfers, and drinks appear in the written quote.
You can combine Botswana with Victoria Falls in an eight- to ten-day plan, according to a 2026 Botswana travel guide. [3] A published 14-calendar-day itinerary places Victoria Falls before Chobe and includes international travel. [1] Allow extra time for border and regional transfers.
You can book a reliable Botswana safari itinerary by comparing verified operators, package inclusions, prices, and authentic reviews. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and helps you request quotes. Review the cancellation terms and daily route before paying a deposit.
Botswana safari itineraries in 2026 work best when the trip length matches your travel goals. Five days gives you a focused Chobe and Okavango Delta visit. Seven days offers the strongest overall balance. Ten days suits travelers who want more regions, slower transfers, or a family-friendly plan.
Use the listed prices as comparison points, not fixed market rates. A five-day example costs US$3,480 per person sharing. A 10-day family trip is listed at US$2,426 on sale. A seven-day premium route is listed at US$7,295. [4][5]
Check flights, camp types, activities, park fees, and cancellation rules before booking. Then compare verified safari packages on SafariFind, read authentic reviews, and request a quote from an operator that matches your preferred pace.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"I spent a week in Botswana with cultural vibes, travels & tours and had not a single dull moment. The hotels/lodges we stayed at were very clean and service was professional. On the drives I had good conversations with the tour operator as he taught me a lot about the culture and about all the different animals (which we saw a lot of). Overall I had a great experience and would definitely book again."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."

"We went on a 3 day safari, and even though Tongesai did not lead it himself, I want to highly recommend his services. Our group consisted of just my family; my wife, children (9, 13, 14), and me. Tongesai acted as the agent, coordinating with the organization in Botswana that ran the actual tour. He met us several days in advance, and had informed us of some critical information (like make sure to bring birth certificates for the kids) well in advance. On the first day of the Safari, he came to pick us up, and drove us to the border, where he coordinated a smooth hand over to the Botswana organization. The guide from our safari was so good! ‘Cobra’ grew up in the bush, and if shows. He was frequently coordinating with, and showing other tour guides where to find the best big game sightings. We saw so many animals, including lions, hippos, tons of elephants and giraffes, and too many other animals to name. The meals were also great! Cobra and Tongesai had contracted with ‘chef K’ for catered breakfast, lunch and dinner at the camp. All meals were great. And the camp itself was organized above my expectations. Very nice tents, raised cots, plenty warm, tables, chairs and napkins at every meal! All in all, the experience was pretty unforgettable. It’s not a cheap experience, but based on our trip I can highly recommend Tongesai’s services!"
