Danish citizens travelling directly from Denmark to Zambia generally do not need a yellow fever certificate, but Zambia requires proof if you arrive from, or spend more than 12 hours transiting through, a country with yellow fever transmission risk. Malaria prevention and travel-health advice are important for every Zambia itinerary.

One week in Botswana can cost $1,260 on a budget or more than $28,000 in luxury camps. [1]
Botswana safari cost ranges from $250 to $4,000 or more per person per day in 2026. Budget trips use camping or simple lodging, while luxury trips use private camps and charter flights. May to October is the best time for wildlife viewing. Compare verified Botswana safari packages on SafariFind before booking.
Botswana safari cost is the total price of transport, lodging, park access, meals, guides, flights, and trip extras. In 2026, daily safari rates range from $250 to $4,000 or more per person. Your travel style creates the biggest difference. Camping, shared vehicles, and road travel reduce costs. Private camps and charter flights raise them. [1]
Botswana is a strong choice for travelers who want quiet wildlife areas and high-quality guiding. The country suits couples, photographers, families, and travelers who value space over low prices. However, a Botswana trip needs careful planning. A low daily rate may exclude flights, transfers, drinks, tips, or park fees.
Quick answer: A seven-day Botswana safari costs about $1,260-$1,680 for budget travel, $1,680-$5,600 for mid-range travel, and $7,000-$28,000 or more for luxury travel in 2026. Add international flights, travel insurance, and personal spending. May through October offers the clearest wildlife focus. [1]
This guide explains nine ways to build a better budget. It also answers common questions about Maun, Kasane, vaccines, yellow fever, visas, and Botswana versus Tanzania. Use the figures as planning ranges, then request a current quote for your exact dates.
Botswana safari cost falls into three broad levels: budget, mid-range, and luxury. Budget travel starts near $250 per person per day. Mid-range trips often cost $800-$2,000 daily. Luxury safaris exceed $2,000 daily and can reach $4,000 or more. [1]
Your first step is choosing a daily limit. A seven-day budget trip costs about $1,260-$1,680 before some international travel expenses. A mid-range trip costs about $1,680-$5,600. Luxury travel costs about $7,000-$28,000 or more. [1]
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Budget safari | $250-$800 per day | 3-7 days | Not provided | Campers and value-focused travelers |
| Mid-range safari | $800-$2,000 per day | 5-10 days | Not provided | Couples and families wanting comfort |
| Luxury safari | $2,000-$4,000+ per day | 5-10 days | Not provided | Private camps and fly-in travelers |
Cedarberg lists moderate camps at $600-$800 per person nightly during the green season. Premier camps cost $825-$975. Luxury camps cost $1,000-$1,300. [4] These prices are all-inclusive nightly rates, so they offer a useful benchmark for comfortable camp travel.
Peak-season prices rise sharply. Cedarberg lists moderate camps at $850-$1,200 nightly, premier camps at $1,250-$1,675, and luxury camps at $1,700-$2,250. Top luxury camps can reach $3,100 per person nightly. [4]
Transport changes both comfort and price. A seven-day comparison lists group camping from $2,680, group lodging from $3,109, private road travel from $4,008, and private fly-in travel from $5,275 per person. [5]
Road travel may suit travelers who want longer game drives between areas. Fly-in travel saves time and reaches remote camps quickly. However, charter flights often form a large part of luxury Botswana safari cost.
Compare Botswana safari packages by budget, duration, and travel style before choosing your camp level.
You can control Botswana safari cost by fixing the trip length, season, transport, and camp type before requesting quotes. The best budget plan separates fixed costs from optional costs. This method shows where you can save without cutting the wildlife experience.
A three-day budget trip may cost $1,000-$2,500, while a week-long luxury safari can exceed $10,000. [2] A longer trip costs more overall, but it can lower the average cost of international flights per safari day.
Seven days is a useful planning point because it allows time for more than one wildlife area. For example, a route can combine the Okavango Delta with the Chobe area. Always check transfer times. A cheap package may spend many hours moving between camps.
International flights can add about $1,500-$2,500 to a Botswana safari budget, according to the supplied 2026 research summary. [1] A U.S.-origin guide estimates international flights from the United States at about $800-$1,500, with total African safari costs often reaching $5,000-$15,000 per person. [8]
These ranges differ because departure cities, dates, cabin class, and connections differ. Therefore, request a package quote with flights included and another without flights. This makes the operator’s ground price easier to compare.
All-inclusive does not always mean every trip cost is covered. Ask whether the quote includes meals, drinks, laundry, park fees, airport transfers, charter flights, activities, and guide tips.
Intrepid listed a 10-day Botswana family safari at $2,426 and a seven-day Premium Botswana itinerary at $7,295. [7] These examples show why travelers should compare duration, comfort, and inclusions together. A lower headline price may cover a basic trip, while a premium price may include better camps and more transfers.
Learn five ways to compare Botswana safari package value before you judge a quote by price alone.
Booking a Botswana safari requires more than choosing a camp. You also need a route, entry plan, health advice, and a clear idea of what you want to see. Maun and Kasane often appear in safari plans, but your operator should confirm the best arrival point for your itinerary.
What to do in Maun Botswana is a common planning question. Maun is widely used as a starting point for Okavango-focused safari travel. Travelers can use it to organize Delta transfers, scenic flights, guided activities, and camp connections. Your operator should explain which activities fit your season and budget.
Where is Kasane located in Botswana? Kasane is in northern Botswana and commonly features in Chobe-area itineraries. It can suit travelers who want a northern wildlife route, especially when their trip connects with nearby regional travel. Ask whether your quote includes road transfers, border crossings, or domestic flights.
Botswana is best for travelers who want quieter camps, strong guiding, and remote wildlife areas. Tanzania is often considered for larger migration routes and broad northern-circuit choices. The better destination depends on wildlife goals, season, camp style, and budget.
Botswana vs Tanzania safari is not simply a question of which country is better. Botswana can cost more when private concessions and charter flights form the core of the trip. Tanzania can offer different route and group options. Compare full itineraries instead of comparing daily camp prices alone.
What vaccines do I need for Botswana? Travelers should ask a travel-health clinic for advice based on their departure country, health history, route, and trip dates. Requirements and health recommendations can change. Book a medical visit well before departure.
What vaccines do you need for Botswana? The answer depends on your personal route and entry history. Check current guidance from your doctor and the relevant government travel service. Do not rely on an old package page or a social media post.
Do you need yellow fever for Botswana? Ask an official health or consular source before travel. Yellow fever rules can depend on where you have recently traveled, not only on your nationality.
For more detail, read this guide to vaccines for Brazilian travellers visiting Botswana in 2026. Travelers arriving from South Africa can also review this article about Botswana vaccination questions from South Africa.
Visa questions also need current checks. Travelers should confirm entry rules with the Botswana government or their nearest consulate. This applies to searches such as “do Canadians need a visa for Botswana,” “do Americans need visa for Botswana,” “do US citizens need a visa for Botswana,” “does Botswana require a visa for US citizens,” and “do Australian citizens need a visa for Botswana.”

The best time to visit Botswana for classic wildlife viewing is May through October. This period generally offers a strong dry-season focus, but camp prices can rise during peak months. Green-season travel may offer lower rates and a different landscape. [1]
Maun is commonly used as a base for Okavango Delta safari travel. Travelers can arrange Delta transfers, scenic flights, guided activities, and camp connections. Your operator should match activities to your travel dates, route, and budget.
Kasane is in northern Botswana and often appears in Chobe-area safari routes. It can suit travelers combining northern wildlife travel with regional transfers. Ask your operator whether the itinerary includes road transfers, flights, or border crossings.
Vaccine advice depends on your health history, route, departure country, and recent travel. Ask a travel-health clinic and check current official entry guidance. Yellow fever rules can depend on recent travel history, so confirm them before departure.
Visa rules depend on nationality, passport type, trip purpose, and current Botswana entry policy. Canadians, Americans, US citizens, and Australian citizens should confirm the latest rule with a Botswana consulate or official government source before booking flights.

"On 10.9. until 1.10. In 2023, I went on a trip to Botswana, Zimbabwe and a short visit to Zambia with my clients - friends. I carefully prepared the trip in cooperation with the manager of Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours, Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. After arriving in Gaborone we organized a short tour of the city ourselves and met Tongesai in Maun. Tongesai was our driver and guide practically the whole way. We visited the Okavango River Delta and its surroundings (Moremi Reserve, Mokoro boat cruise, flight over the Okavango Delta. This was followed by a visit to the Makgadikgadi Salt Flats, then the Elephant Sands area and in Botswana Chobe National Park with a cruise on the Chobe River. Then we crossed to Zimbabwe, which was the main part of our journey. In the Victoria Falls area, we visited the Monde settlement, took a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, followed by a cruise on the Zambezi River as part of a visit to the national park of the same name. We also walked past Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side and had a Boma dinner in the evening (too much of a "tourist thing"). On the Zambian side of the falls we saw white rhinos in Mosi - oa - Tunya National Park, then visited the museum in Livingstone and walked the Zambian side of the falls. From Victoria Falls, we headed to Hwange National Park, where we had a beautiful program - a safari, and after Hwange, there was also a very interesting program in Matobo National Park (there, among other things, white rhinos (a mother with her little daughter), beautiful rock formations and prehistoric cave drawings. The next place visited was Khami with very interesting buildings, and then we visited the ruins of Great Zimbabwe, which are among the most important world monuments. This was followed by a visit to the Chinhoya Karst and finally the gallery in Harare. I would also like to comment on the provision of services: Accommodation in the hotels was at the standard, expected level, only the service at the Great Zimbabwe Hotel was rather lazy. Accommodation in lodges - very good and the best accommodation was in Iganyana tented camp in Hwange National Park, mainly due to the extraordinary professionalism and very friendly attitude of the staff there towards us, the visitors. I must also highly praise all the local guides we met everywhere, e.g. in Chobe, Hwange and Matobo National Parks. I want to emphasize that this journey is one of the most interesting that I have made around the world. I believe that my clients - friends were also satisfied with the set. Thanks to the travel agency Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours and Mr. Tongesai Mutematsaka. I recommend Cultural Vibes Travel & Tours to anyone considering a trip to Zimbabwe."

"I spent a week in Botswana with cultural vibes, travels & tours and had not a single dull moment. The hotels/lodges we stayed at were very clean and service was professional. On the drives I had good conversations with the tour operator as he taught me a lot about the culture and about all the different animals (which we saw a lot of). Overall I had a great experience and would definitely book again."

"Tongesai was awesome from the start. I knew he was a good tour operator because he answered all of my questions in a timely manner and no question was ever stupid. Everything was just as he said once we arrived and really it was better. We prepared for about a year in advance for this trip and the tour operator was instrumental and making this trip a success. I highly recommend this tour operator to anyone who wants to visit Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana. Give Tongesai a call or email, and you will 100% not be disappointed. I have a very deep understanding of border crossing and transportation challenges in many African countries at this point because of the efforts of the tour operator. This makes my wife and I have very comfortable to approach another visit or look at visiting a different African country."
