The best safari lodges in Tanzania for 2027 range from $370 per person per night at Lemala Ngorongoro to $3,755 at Singita Sasakwa Lodge during peak season. A 10-day mid-range safari costs about $3,000 to $4,500 per person. Visit between June and October for dry-season game viewing, or choose January and February for wildebeest calving.
One listed Tanzania lodge rate reaches $3,755 per person per night in peak season, while another starts at $370. [2] That wide gap explains why lodge choice shapes your full safari budget.
The Best Safari Lodges Tanzania 2027: Rates and Booking Guide helps you compare places to stay, nightly prices, park fees, seasons, and booking steps. It focuses on the main safari areas rather than beach resorts in Zanzibar.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, safari packages, and authentic traveler reviews. You can use this guide to set a budget before comparing trips in the SafariFind catalog.
Tanzania gives you several ways to build a safari. You can sleep in a permanent lodge near a park gate, choose a mobile tented camp near the migration, or select a private luxury property with exclusive drives. Each option changes your comfort, travel time, and total price.
Quick answer: The best Tanzania safari lodge depends on your route and travel month. Choose a Serengeti lodge for migration access, a Ngorongoro lodge for crater trips, or a Tarangire lodge for elephants. In 2027, listed lodge rates run from $370 to $3,755 per person per night. [2]
The best safari lodges Tanzania 2027 booking guide is a price and planning tool for choosing accommodation across Tanzania's main wildlife areas. It compares lodge types, nightly rates, safari seasons, park charges, and package costs. The right choice depends on your route, group size, comfort needs, and wildlife goals.
Tanzania is known for the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and Arusha National Parks. A 10-day mid-range route from Kilimanjaro International Airport can include all five areas and costs about $3,000 to $4,500 per person. [1]
Serengeti National Park is known for large plains, predator sightings, and access to the Great Migration. A lodge inside or near the park saves road time on game drives. It also places you closer to seasonal wildlife movement.
Ngorongoro is known for its crater floor, high wildlife numbers, and dramatic rim views. A lodge on the crater rim works well for travelers who want an early descent. The crater descent fee is listed at about $295 per vehicle, so a larger group can reduce the cost per person. [3]
Tarangire National Park is known for elephants and baobab trees. Lake Manyara is a useful stop on a northern circuit. Arusha is known for its airport access and first or final nights before a longer safari.
Safari lodges matter because they control more than sleep. They affect your morning departure, lunch style, drive length, guide access, and chance of reaching wildlife before other vehicles. I prefer spending more on the location than on extra room features. A well-placed lodge often gives you more safari time.

Tanzania safari lodges cost about $370 to $3,755 per person per night in listed 2027 rates. Lemala Ngorongoro appears at the lower end at $370 per person sharing on full board, while Singita Sasakwa Lodge reaches $3,755 during peak season. [2] Package prices also include transport, guides, meals, and park charges.
The lodge rate is only one part of the final bill. Ask whether the quote includes park fees, concession fees, conservation charges, transfers, drinks, laundry, and activities. A cheap nightly rate can become less attractive when many extras sit outside the package.
| Safari style | Price range | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 10-day mid-range safari | $3,000 to $4,500 per person | First-time travelers and couples |
| Luxury safari | $800 to $1,500 per person per day | Private drives and high-end lodges |
| Luxury migration camp | $950 to $2,750 per person per night | Migration-focused travelers |
| Top listed luxury lodge | Up to $3,755 per person per night | Guests seeking premium properties |
Most Serengeti game-package camps listed by one operator cost $780 to $2,320 per person per night before park or concession fees. [2] Published luxury camp rates for Great Migration trips reach $950 to $2,750 per person per night. [4]
Serengeti National Park entry is listed at about $70 per adult for 24 hours. Ngorongoro Conservation Area entry is about $82 per adult for 24 hours. Tarangire and Lake Manyara entry fees are about $53 per adult for 24 hours each. [3]
These charges can add hundreds of dollars to a longer route. The Ngorongoro crater descent fee adds about $295 per vehicle for one descent. Your group size therefore affects the per-person price. [3]
Compare tour operators and request a quote for your 2027 Tanzania safari budget before paying a deposit. Check the full cost line by line.
A 10-day mid-range safari from Kilimanjaro International Airport can include lodges, game drives, meals, transfers, and park fees. The listed route covers Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and Arusha National Parks. [1]
That route suits travelers who want several parks without paying luxury rates each night. It also creates a busy schedule. Ask your operator how many nights you spend in each park and how many hours you spend driving between lodges.
Stay in the Serengeti for migration and predator viewing, on the Ngorongoro rim for crater access, in Tarangire for elephants, and in Arusha before or after your main route. Your best base depends on the month, not only the lodge brand.
Serengeti lodges suit travelers who want more time inside the park. The park is large, so a lodge near your target wildlife area can reduce long daily drives. Ask where the lodge sits within the park and whether the rate includes concession fees.
Serengeti lodges are best for travelers who want full-day drives and seasonal wildlife access. Permanent lodges offer stable rooms, dining areas, and fixed facilities. Mobile camps can move with the migration and may place you closer to the action during selected months.
Great Migration camps are especially useful from July to October when many travelers plan river-crossing trips. January and February suit travelers focused on calving. Do not book a migration camp only because of its name. Ask where it will operate during your dates.
Ngorongoro lodges are best for crater access and short wildlife routes. Rim lodges can provide quick morning access to the descent road. The area also works well between Tarangire and Serengeti.
Lemala Ngorongoro is listed at $370 per person per night sharing on full board. [2] That rate makes it a useful reference point for travelers comparing mid-range and premium options.
Tarangire lodges suit short safaris and northern circuit routes. Tarangire entry is listed at about $53 per adult per 24 hours. Lake Manyara entry is listed at the same amount. [3]
These parks can add wildlife value without requiring a long Serengeti stay. They also help create a balanced route before or after Ngorongoro. For a shorter trip, read the guide to Arusha National Park safari packages for 2027.
Arusha lodges are best for arrival nights, departure nights, and travelers who want a softer start. Arusha connects well with northern safari routes and Kilimanjaro International Airport. Spend one night there if your flight arrives late or your drive begins early.
Safari travelers who want a longer nature route can also consider Lake Duluti or the Udzungwa Mountains National Park. These areas serve different trip goals, so do not add them without checking transfer time.
The best time for a Tanzania safari is June to October for dry weather, easier game viewing, and strong migration interest. January and February are best for the wildebeest calving season. Each period offers a different experience, so choose your lodge after choosing your wildlife goal.
June to October is the main dry-season window. Water becomes less spread across the parks, which can make animals easier to find near rivers and waterholes. Demand also rises, especially for Serengeti lodges and migration camps.
July to October is the common planning window for Great Migration trips. River crossings are never guaranteed on a set date. A longer stay gives you more chances than a single overnight stop.
January and February are best for travelers who want to plan around wildebeest calving. One 2027 photographic itinerary limits groups to nine guests, uses three Land Cruisers, and includes four nights at Savannah Ndutu Camp. [8]
Small groups can help photographers manage vehicle positions and daily timing. Ask how many guests share each vehicle. Also confirm the camp location because seasonal camps can move during the year.
Peak-season demand can push luxury lodge rates toward the top of the published range. Singita Sasakwa Lodge is listed at $3,755 per person during peak season. [2] Migration camps also list rates as high as $2,750 per person per night. [4]
Shoulder-season travel can offer a better balance between price and wildlife. Your operator should explain the expected weather, road conditions, migration position, and lodge availability for your exact dates.
For more planning help, use the Tanzania safari packing list for 2027. Good shoes, neutral clothing, sun protection, and a warm layer can make early drives easier.
Book the best Tanzania safari lodge by choosing your travel month, setting a total budget, selecting a route, and checking what the quote includes. Then compare verified operators, read recent reviews, and confirm room type, park fees, transfers, and cancellation terms before you pay.
Early planning matters for 2027, especially for peak migration months and small photographic groups. A 2027 calving itinerary limits the group to nine guests, which shows how quickly specialist spaces can fill. [8]
SafariFind helps you compare packages and read authentic reviews before you choose. You can also ask verified operators to explain why one lodge costs more than another.
Do not judge a lodge by its room price alone. A $370 lodge near your route can save drive time and keep your total trip under control. A $2,000 camp can be worth it when its location gives you more game-drive hours and a smaller group.
Tanzania safari lodges cost about $370 to $3,755 per person per night in listed 2027 rates. Lemala Ngorongoro is listed at $370 sharing on full board, while Singita Sasakwa Lodge reaches $3,755 in peak season. Park fees, transfers, and activities may add to the total package price. [2]

"We went to the 7-day Tanzania Classic Safari of Dallago Tours. All was very nicely decorated. Being a private tour, the guide and the car were only for us, so I was able to do everything in time. I was fascinated by the huge herd of elephants and baobab trees in Tarangire. In Serengeti we saw lions, leopards and many deer. The experience of going down inside the Ngorongoro Crater is amazing. We also saw tree-climbing lions in Lake Manyara. The guide is very knowledgeable and explains everything in English. Accommodations were clean and the food was good. Low-intensity travel reduces fatigue. This is the perfect first trip to Africa."

"Just finished a 4 days Safari with MangiEmpire Tours & Safaris. We were a group of 2 – Father (50) and daughter (18) Overall excellent experience. There are tons of companies organizing safaris so it is hard to compare, but MangiEMPIRE Safaris is definitely a great one. We did all the booking over mail/Whatsapp with Nova, who showed great flexibility to our itinerary and hotels requests. After consulting with him, we agreed to have about 2 days in Serengeti and 1 day in Ngorongoro. We also picked together the hotels in order to have a varied experience (we had 1 night in the KatiKati tented camp, 1 night at the excellent Serena Lodge and 1 last night at the very fancy Neptune lodge.) We had an experienced and knowledgeable guide who catered to all our requests, and was ready to have very long days with us in the field. This included driving the extra distance to take us to the south part of the Serengeti in order to see the first large groups or migrating animals (mainly Zebras and Cheetah) returning to the Serengeti. Also, as we had a very late flight on the day returning from the Safari, while my daughter had her hair done the Tanzania way with many small braids, and took us to a nice place to eat as we insisted tasting Nyama Choma (BBQ meat with bananas) before leaving."
