Balule walking safari packages in 2027 cost from US$1,359 per person for four days, while a six-day fully inclusive trip starts at US$4,092. Short half-day walks start at US$222. Balule is in South Africa's Greater Kruger area, and the best booking plan is to compare dates, walking time, transfers, and lodge services before paying a deposit.
One six-day Balule walking safari is listed at US$4,092 per person for 2027, while a four-day trip starts at US$1,359. [4]
Balule walking safari packages 2027: prices and booking plans suit travelers who want more time on foot. A walking safari changes the pace. You look at tracks, plants, calls, and small signs that a vehicle may pass. The trip also needs careful planning because walking hours, transfers, and lodge rules affect the total cost.
Balule Nature Reserve sits within the Greater Kruger region of South Africa. Travelers can pair a Balule trip with a wider Kruger National Park safari, although the two experiences are not the same. A private reserve package may focus on guided activities and lodge service, while a park stay may suit self-drive travelers.
This guide explains the listed 2027 prices, package types, and booking checks. It also shows where a short walk fits better than a full safari. SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, so you can compare package details and read authentic traveler reviews before requesting a quote.
Balule walking safari packages are guided trips that include time on foot inside Balule Nature Reserve or the Greater Kruger area. In 2027, listings cover short half-day walks, fly-in trips, and fully inclusive stays lasting four to six days. The right choice depends on your budget, comfort, and interest in walking.
Balule walking safaris are known for guided bush walks that bring attention to tracks, plants, insects, and animal signs. A guide sets the pace and manages the route. You should expect early starts, quiet movement, and time in a vehicle on some package types.
Greater Kruger walking trails list a half-day option at US$222 per person for travel between 1 January and 31 December 2027. [4] This format works well for a traveler who already has a lodge booking or a longer South Africa itinerary. It gives you a walking activity without the cost of several nights.
Balule listings also include eight walking safari packages. Advertised prices sit in bands from US$500 to US$3,000. [6] Those figures show the spread between shorter, simpler trips and longer packages with more services. Always read the inclusions because an advertised starting price does not explain every transfer or meal.
A walking safari gives you a closer view of the bush without promising a fixed list of animals. Your guide may spend time on spoor, bird calls, tree bark, or dung. That slower pace suits curious travelers. It may frustrate visitors who want constant big-cat sightings from a vehicle.
Balule packages are also useful for travelers building a longer route. You can compare them with a 7-day Kruger safari itinerary for 2027 or add a walking stay after a city visit. A walking trip feels more active, but it still needs rest between outings.
Compare Balule walking safari packages for 2027 by duration, price, and included transfers.
Balule walking safari prices in 2027 range from US$222 for a half-day Greater Kruger walk to US$4,092 per person for a six-day fully inclusive trip. Fly-in options from Johannesburg start at ZAR 20,890 for three days. These prices are listed starting rates, so package inclusions need close review.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Greater Kruger walking safari | From US$222 | Half day | Not listed | Adding a walk to an existing stay |
| Balule fly-in safari from Johannesburg | From ZAR 20,890 | 3 days | Not listed | Travelers who want flights and a short stay |
| Balule fly-in safari from Johannesburg | From ZAR 27,120 | 4 days | Not listed | A short complete safari plan |
| Balule fully inclusive walking safari | From US$1,359 | 4 days | Not listed | Travelers seeking a longer guided stay |
| Balule all-inclusive package | From ZAR 32,800 | 5 days | Not listed | Travelers who want meals and lodge services included |
| Balule fully inclusive walking safari | From US$4,092 | 6 days | Not listed | A longer walking-focused holiday |
The four-day fully inclusive walking safari starts at US$1,359 per person for 2027. [4] The six-day version starts at US$4,092 per person. [4] The difference is large, so ask why the prices differ. Lodge class, private guiding, transfers, flights, and the number of walking activities may all change the final quote.
Johannesburg fly-in packages provide another price point. A three-day Balule fly-in safari starts at ZAR 20,890, and a four-day package starts at ZAR 27,120. [3] These options may suit travelers who want a planned route without arranging each road transfer themselves.
Five-day all-inclusive Balule Game Reserve packages start at ZAR 32,800. [5] The phrase "all-inclusive" still needs checking. Ask whether it covers drinks, laundry, gratuities, transfers, conservation fees, and activities. Operators may use the phrase in different ways.
SafariFind helps you compare operators before choosing a package. Request a quote from verified Balule safari operators under your target budget, then compare what each quote includes.
Book a Balule walking safari by matching the trip length, access plan, and walking schedule to your needs. Start with a clear budget. Then ask for a written quote that lists transport, accommodation, meals, activities, fees, and cancellation terms. This simple check prevents a low starting price from becoming a costly surprise.
A half-day walk is the easiest entry point. It suits travelers who already have accommodation in the Greater Kruger area. A three-day fly-in package adds transport and a short lodge stay. Four to six days gives you more time to settle into the bush and take part in more activities.
Five-day all-inclusive packages start at ZAR 32,800, while four-day fully inclusive walking packages start at US$1,359. [4][5] These are different currencies and package types. Do not compare them as if they were identical. Ask each operator for the same list of inclusions.
Johannesburg is a practical starting point for listed fly-in Balule trips. Three-day packages start at ZAR 20,890, and four-day packages start at ZAR 27,120. [3] A road transfer may cost less than a flight, but travel time and comfort will differ. The quote should name the airport, transfer type, and arrival plan.
Balule is one option within a wider South Africa route. You could compare it with MalaMala Private Game Reserve, Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve, or Madikwe safari packages for 2027. Each destination needs its own route and budget check.
Ask how many walks the package includes and how long each walk lasts. Confirm the guide's qualifications, group size, age rules, and fitness needs. Ask what happens if heavy rain, heat, or animal movement changes the route.
Walking safaris require closed shoes, neutral clothing, a hat, water, sunscreen, and a small daypack. Pack light. You need room for binoculars and a camera, but a large bag will slow you down.
Check the deposit, payment dates, cancellation rules, and refund terms. Ask whether the price is fixed in US dollars or South African rand. Currency changes can affect the final amount. Keep every quote and payment receipt in one folder.
For a wider Kruger plan, the SANParks booking result lists 31 August 2027 as a last booking date. [1] That date is not a universal Balule deadline. It shows why you should confirm dates early, especially when a package combines private reserve lodging with national park nights.
A Balule walking safari is a guided wildlife activity with a slower pace than a standard game drive. The guide decides where to walk and when to stop. You may study tracks for several minutes before moving on. The experience rewards patience, good listening, and realistic expectations.
Balule walking safaris are best for adults and older children who can walk quietly and follow guide instructions. They suit people who enjoy learning about the bush. They are less suitable for travelers who need a fully relaxed holiday or want guaranteed animal sightings.
Known for: guided walks, Greater Kruger access, lodge-based safari options, and packages that can include transfers. Best for: travelers who want a more active safari day rather than vehicle viewing alone.
Ask the operator about group size, emergency plans, radio contact, and the guide-to-guest ratio. Also ask about heat, water, walking distance, and the usual start time. Early departures are common on safari, so sleep and rest matter.
Do not treat a walking safari as a casual hike. Never leave the guide, approach wildlife, or use strong perfume. Follow the group's instructions when the guide asks you to stop, turn, or move behind cover.
A Balule walking safari can fit well into a longer trip. Travelers who want elephants may compare Addo Elephant National Park packages. Those planning a coast and wetland route can review iSimangaliso Wetland Park packages.
Keep the route simple when possible. Too many transfers can reduce time in the reserve. If you add Cape Town, review Cape Town tours and safari prices for 2027 before setting your flight dates.
Use SafariFind to compare operators, package terms, and traveler feedback before you pay. Compare 2027 Balule walking safari packages with flights, lodge stays, and guided walks.
Balule walking safari packages cost from US$222 for a half-day Greater Kruger walk. A four-day fully inclusive package starts at US$1,359, while a six-day option starts at US$4,092 per person. [4] Final prices depend on transfers, lodge type, meals, and activities.
A three-day fly-in safari to Balule from Johannesburg starts at ZAR 20,890. A four-day fly-in package starts at ZAR 27,120. [3] Confirm whether the quote includes flights, airport transfers, accommodation, meals, and guided walking activities.
The lowest listed walking option is a half-day Greater Kruger safari from US$222 per person for travel in 2027. [4] This option suits travelers who already have accommodation. It does not equal the cost of a multi-day lodge package.
A fully inclusive Balule safari should list accommodation, meals, guided activities, and agreed transfers. The exact meaning varies by operator. Ask about drinks, flights, park fees, tips, laundry, and travel insurance because these items may sit outside the starting price.
Four days is a useful starting point for travelers who want more than one walking activity. Three-day fly-in packages suit shorter trips, while five or six days allow a slower stay. Choose the length that matches your budget and tolerance for early starts.
Book through SafariFind to compare listed packages, request quotes from verified tour operators, and read authentic reviews from previous travelers. Check every quote for dates, inclusions, currency, cancellation terms, and walking details before you confirm payment.
Balule walking safari packages in 2027 start at US$222 for a half-day walk and rise to US$4,092 per person for a six-day fully inclusive trip. [4] A four-day package from US$1,359 gives travelers a clear starting point, while Johannesburg fly-in trips begin at ZAR 20,890 for three days. [3]
Choose a short walk if you already have a lodge booking. Choose four to six days if you want a deeper walking-focused stay. In every case, ask for a full price breakdown. Confirm the guide plan, transfers, meals, lodge, fees, and cancellation rules.

"We made our reservations with 50% down-payment way back in Feb-26, 4 months before our trip in June and balance 50% one month before departure from Singapore. We were not sure and worried a bit whether things would turn out as described and promised, as this is our first ever trip to South Africa. All our worries disappeared from the moment we were picked up upon arrival according to the itinerary, and subsequent daily trips were excellent in view of timing, routes, transports, accommodations, meals, and to the local guides and drivers assigned. Everything is above and beyond our expectations, and we sincerely thank Safari Tailors for providing us such a memorable trip of our life!"

"Communications with Mack via email were swift and comprehensible. We were picked up at the airport on arrival by our guide, Thomas, who would be with us for the whole week. We signed up for a budget camping safari, and we had a great time! The campsites were nicer than I thought they would be, and the Kiliholidays team did a great job of taking care of us the whole trip. Thomas was very accommodating, and our 'stomach engineer' did a fantastic job the whole trip. My partner and I were very impressed by the quality of the food. Thomas was an incredible driver; a few times we had to stop and help other drivers who were stuck! This was my second visit to East Africa, and I will definitely book with Kiliholidays for my third trip :) A few tips for other travelers: The sleeping mattress was a bit thin for me (my partner had no trouble!), but I found that sleeping on my back instead of my side helped. If you have sensitive hips, I'd recommend bringing something to use as a cushion, or possibly arranging for an extra mattress. The tent was high-quality and the sleeping bags were warm. We stayed in Mto wa Mbu a few nights and it was quite hot there. We brought sleeping sacks (very thin) and used those instead. Bring LOTS of insect repellent and use it often (biting flies in the daytime, mosquitoes at night). Same with hand sanitizer (public campsite toilets don't usually have soap). Granola bars are a good idea, too, if you like to snack between meals. There's not a lot of access to ice, so if you like an evening adult-beverage, just ask your guide to stop before you leave Arusha to pick up some wine. We picked up a 5-liter box of South African wine for about 25euros and it was very convenient (bring your own cups!)."
5★ - "This is the second time I have traveled with my family with GoExplore. The first time was an amazing Uganda experience (already reviewed) and this second experience with my husband to Kenya was equally amazing. Brian org" - Sarah • Verified review
"This is the second time I have traveled with my family with GoExplore. The first time was an amazing Uganda experience (already reviewed) and this second experience with my husband to Kenya was equally amazing. Brian organized organized both tours for me and tailored them according to my wishes. As this is still the time of unsure flights and Covid difficulties, he was easily able to adapt to some changes with travel that were beyond our control. GoExplore is a boutique business that is very personalized and offers you the equal and more than a large corporate operator. The price point is compatible with group tours but you will have your own personal driver and guide for yourself and there is nothing to compare with this luxury. Because of that, you will also be able to adapt your days schedule if you wish according what you want and not what is a groups plan. We were completely happy and satisfied with all aspects of our travel (on both trips). Brian knows the safari tour industry and is constantly working to improve the business, his knowledge about lodges, the parks, restaurants and all minute aspects of the tour. He will be able to personally attest to the quality of whatever product he is recommending to you. Sammi was our driver in Kenya and we can only say that he was amazing. He knew more about wildlife (and every birds name and details) than an encyclopedia, was an amazingly adept driver in sometimes rough conditions (traffic, rough park roads, etc.) and looked out for our interests. While respecting the animals, he went above and beyond trying to make sure we saw every different animal we could. We appreciated that he obviously respected and cared about the animals we were seeing. (Not all safari drivers do and will do anything to try to get to see something up close, even while encroaching too much on their space.) We had a minor vehicle difficulty and Sammi made sure that everything went smoothly and we didn't miss a minute of our trip or schedule. He is quite an asset to GoExplore. Sammi only drives on Kenya trips but if you go to Uganda, I highly recommend Moses who was equally great. Overall, the trip was an unforgettable trip of a lifetime. If you haven't gone on a safari before, you should trip to put this on your life plan. There is nothing like it and when you plan it, you want a safari operator that will listen to your needs, wants, and budget and tailor it to fit you. GoExplore will do that in a personal way. Our lodges that Brian picked were magical and the food was outstanding. There was nothing about our trip that we would have changed. I highly recommend GoExplore if you want to travel to any of the countries they operate in. If not those countries, then reconsider them over the more commercialized ones (such as South Africa) and you won't be disappointed."

"We just finished a 2-week tour of South Africa with extension to Victoria Falls and the Monde Village Cultural Experience was one of the highlights of the entire trip. It is a must-do for anyone in the area. Tongesai (our guide) was very personable and worked with us to customize the experience. He was flexible and took time to explain many things that aren't part of the "regular tour". We had great conversations throughout the tour. He ended up dropping us off so late (8:30pm), his wife had to call him twice. He took a few pictures with us so he had alibi. :) Mr Ncube (our village host) and his family were welcoming and excited to show us their way of life. Mr Ncube's explanations of his culture, family structure, farming struggles, and discussions on many topics showed us a simple way of life, much different than our modern American ways, but it made so much sense. People here fight hard to live but they do it with a smile. They may be poor, but not in spirit. We asked many questions and received questions ourselves. It was as if I was visiting an uncle living in a rural part of a third-world country. This family made us felt at home. We wish we had more time to sit under the summer kitchen during a raining day, sharing food and chatting with these folks. We wish we could sit in the winter kitchen to hear him teach his children and grandchildren. Needless to say, we spent 4+ hrs at this experience and wanted more. I am now back to "civilization" in a nice Qatari hotel, but I kept thinking about my time in the simple Monde Village. What a breath of fresh air that was. I brought some extra clothes to give, but ended up giving as much as I could live without for the rest of my trip. A pair of sandals doesn't mean much to me, but it means a lot to people in these villages. This is 30+ hrs flight from home so it is a one-time chance to help; I had to make the best of it. If I can come back to this area, I will definitely bring more people to share in this amazing experience. I encourage all who come to Victoria Falls to add this cultural experience to their itinerary."
5★ - "Cultural Vibes Travel and Tours has proved to be excellent yet again as this is now the third time, we have used them and a much-needed break after almost 3 years with the Covid pandemic. Tongesai is extremely reliable, " - Charles Kinnaird • Verified review
"Cultural Vibes Travel and Tours has proved to be excellent yet again as this is now the third time, we have used them and a much-needed break after almost 3 years with the Covid pandemic. Tongesai is extremely reliable, professional, knowledgeable and does everything to make your trip a memorable experience. Compared to local larger companies, Tongesai’s individual package rates are more reasonable and come with a customized touch. We felt that our holiday with Tongesai was much better and suited us more so than if we had booked through a larger company. His individual tailoring, personal involvement and attention to detail pays off in the smooth running of your trip. Our visits to the Victoria Falls, both sides from Zimbabwe and Zambia were magnificent and never cease to amaze us. On this trip Tongesai arranged for a private sunset cruise on the Zambezi just for our family of four instead of on the larger vessels, which was a very pleasant alternative. The boat trip in Chobe is magical and a must if you venture into Botswana. Wildlife was in abundance, including lion, elephant, wildebeest, buffalo, puku, kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck, impala, gemsbok, steenbok, sable and roan antelope, etc. We even saw a relative of Cecil, the famous black-maned lion, ‘once a true king of Hwange National Park’. I have no hesitation in recommending the company for arranging tours in Zimbabwe, Zambia and Botswana - we will definitely be seeing him again. He is currently setting up arrangements with colleagues in Kruger National Park to venture into South Africa and I wish him every success with that."
