Rothschild’s giraffe is not the giraffe subspecies recorded in Mozambique: the country’s documented populations are South African giraffe. Mozambique nevertheless supports an estimated 378 giraffes across protected areas and conservancies, with habitat protection, reintroductions and monitoring remaining priorities [1].

Ankarana Special Reserve Tours 2027: Fees & Package Cost is a useful search for travelers planning northern Madagascar now. The clearest published 2027 price starts at $3,995 per person. That rate applies to double occupancy for Wilderness Travel’s Ankarana and Amber Mountain extension [1]. A solo traveler price starts at $5,495 [1].
Ankarana Special Reserve is a strong choice for travelers who want more than a short park visit. The reserve fits into wider northern routes that can include Diego Suarez, Amber Mountain National Park, Tsingy Rouge, and Nosy Be. One 14-day itinerary starts at £2,100 per person for two people sharing a double room [2].
Quick answer: Ankarana tours in 2027 start at $3,995 per person for a listed guided extension. Solo travelers should plan from $5,495, plus any stated airfare or supplements. Longer northern itineraries start at £2,100 per person. Compare inclusions carefully, because transport, meals, guides, and park visits differ.
Prices in this guide come from published operator pages available in August 2026. They are planning figures for 2027, not a promise of fixed availability. Airfare can change, and operators may update rates before departure.

Ankarana Special Reserve Tours 2027: Fees & Package Cost refers to guided journeys that visit Ankarana in northern Madagascar, often as part of a wider regional trip. Published examples show prices from £2,100 for a 14-day northern itinerary to $3,995 for a shorter Wilderness Travel extension. Solo pricing reaches $5,495 [1][2].
Ankarana is sold as part of several northern Madagascar travel plans. The published Boutique Travel Experts route includes Diego Suarez, Amber Mountain National Park, Tsingy Rouge, Tsingy de Ankarana, and Nosy Be [2]. This route creates a varied trip rather than a single reserve visit.
Known for: Ankarana packages focus on the reserve’s unusual limestone landscape and linked northern attractions. The supplied tour listings also point to caves and the Tsingy de Ankarana area as major experiences [2][7]. Travelers should ask each operator which trails, viewpoints, and cave visits the itinerary includes.
Best for: Ankarana is best for active travelers, photographers, couples, and visitors who want a structured northern Madagascar trip. A guided itinerary also suits travelers who prefer planned hotels, ground transport, and local support.
Wilderness Travel lists local English-speaking guide services, hotel accommodations, specified meals, ground transportation, and baggage handling in its extension package [1]. These inclusions help explain why a guided package costs more than a basic park entry or self-arranged day visit.
Entrance fees are not listed as a separate price in the Wilderness Travel summary. Another tour listing states that Ankarana entrance fees and local guides are included during park visits in its program [5]. Therefore, ask for a written breakdown before you pay a deposit.
Longer routes can also spread transport costs across several destinations. The 14-day northern itinerary from Boutique Travel Experts includes five named areas, while the Rainbow Tours listing shows 12 nights from £5,555 per person [2][8]. Those products are not identical, so price alone does not show value.

Northern Madagascar works well for travelers who want a mix of reserve walks, forest visits, and island time. You can compare Ankarana with a Lokobe National Park excursion or add beach time around Nosy Komba.
Travelers who want a marine stop can also review Nosy Tanikely Marine Reserve or Nosy Iranja. These links help you see how a northern route can become a wider Madagascar holiday.
Ankarana tours cost from $3,995 per person for a published 2027 double-occupancy extension. The same listing shows $5,495 for a solo traveler, a $750 single supplement, and $990 for non-refundable internal airfare subject to change [1]. Other itineraries use pounds and include different trip lengths [1][2][8].
The table below compares the supplied listings. Currency, duration, and package design differ. Ratings were not provided in the research data, so the table does not invent them.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wilderness Travel: Ankarana & Amber Mountain Extension | From $3,995 per person, double occupancy | Extension duration not stated in supplied data | Not provided | Guided extension with listed lodging, meals, transport, and baggage handling |
| Wilderness Travel: Solo Traveler Option | From $5,495 per person | Extension duration not stated in supplied data | Not provided | Solo travelers seeking a published 2027 option |
| Boutique Travel Experts: Highlights of the North | From £2,100 per person | 14 days | Not provided | Travelers combining Ankarana with Diego Suarez, Amber Mountain, Tsingy Rouge, and Nosy Be |
| Rainbow Tours: Ankarana National Park Holidays | From £5,555 per person | 12 nights | Not provided | Travelers seeking a longer Ankarana holiday with listed lodge options |
The largest clearly stated extra is the $990 internal airfare. Wilderness Travel describes this airfare as non-refundable and subject to change [1]. Confirm whether the amount applies to your exact departure and whether taxes, baggage rules, and schedule changes affect the final bill.
The listed $750 single supplement is separate from the published double-occupancy rate [1]. The solo price of $5,495 may already reflect a different booking structure, so ask the operator how the supplement relates to the solo rate.
Other costs depend on the package. The supplied data does not give visa, insurance, international airfare, optional activity, or personal spending rates. Request a full written quote that marks each cost as included, excluded, refundable, or subject to change.
SafariFind helps you compare tour operators before making that decision. Compare verified Ankarana tour operators, prices, and authentic traveler reviews before choosing a 2027 departure.
A low headline price does not always mean a cheaper trip. The £2,100 route lasts 14 days and covers several northern destinations [2]. The $3,995 product is an extension with listed services and a separate internal airfare charge [1]. Compare total days, hotel class, meals, transport, and guide support.
Use the same questions for every quote:
Start planning Ankarana tours by matching the route to your time, budget, and travel style. Choose a shorter extension if you want a focused guided visit. Choose a 12-night or 14-day northern itinerary if you want Ankarana alongside Amber Mountain, Diego Suarez, Tsingy Rouge, and Nosy Be [1][2][8].
Short extension: The Wilderness Travel option suits travelers who already have a larger trip plan. Its published inclusions cover local English-speaking guides, hotels, specified meals, ground transportation, and baggage handling [1].
Fourteen-day northern route: Boutique Travel Experts lists a route from £2,100 per person. It includes Diego Suarez, Amber Mountain National Park, Tsingy Rouge, Tsingy de Ankarana, and Nosy Be [2]. This format suits travelers who want wider northern coverage.
Twelve-night holiday: Rainbow Tours lists Ankarana holidays from £5,555 per person for 12 nights [8]. Ask what lodging and activities create the price difference. A longer stay does not automatically mean more reserve time.
Book early for 2027, then confirm every rate in writing. The supplied sources show that at least one airfare price is subject to change [1]. Early planning also gives you time to compare hotel standards and route length.
Pack for walking, uneven ground, and warm outdoor conditions. Your operator should explain the expected trail level, footwear, baggage limits, and daily schedule. Ask whether cave visits or longer walks require extra equipment.
Build flexibility into the route. Northern Madagascar itineraries can include several destinations, so a delayed transfer can affect later plans. A good operator should explain its response plan and emergency contact process.
Madagascar has many other safari choices. Travelers who prefer eastern forests can compare Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, Ranomafana National Park, or Andasibe I. Those options can help you balance a northern route with other landscapes.
Comparing Ankarana packages protects your budget because published prices cover different durations and services. A $3,995 extension, a £2,100 14-day route, and a £5,555 12-night holiday cannot be judged by headline price alone [1][2][8]. Total inclusions and route design determine the real value.
Ask for a day-by-day plan before you book. The plan should show where you sleep, how you travel, and which activities are included. It should also identify costs that you pay locally.
Travelers who want a beach finish can compare Nosy Sakatia and other island options. SafariFind also lists destination ideas such as Anja Community Reserve and Isalo National Park for travelers building a longer national parks route.
For wider planning, read the guide to Madagascar beach holiday packages for 2027. You can also compare the 2027 Isalo National Park tour costs if you want to add a southern park.
Ankarana tours start at $3,995 per person for a published 2027 extension based on double occupancy. A solo traveler price starts at $5,495. A separate $750 single supplement and $990 non-refundable internal airfare are also listed by Wilderness Travel [1].
The lowest published figure in the supplied research is £2,100 per person for a 14-day northern Madagascar itinerary. The price is based on two people sharing a double room and includes Ankarana among several northern stops [2].
The Wilderness Travel extension includes local English-speaking guide services, hotel accommodations, specified meals, ground transportation, and baggage handling. Its listed internal airfare costs $990, is non-refundable, and remains subject to change [1].
Ankarana entrance fees are not shown as a separate amount in the supplied Wilderness Travel pricing summary. Another tour listing states that entrance fees and local guides are included during park visits, so ask your chosen operator for written confirmation [5].
Ankarana tour length depends on the route. Published examples include a 14-day northern itinerary and a 12-night Ankarana holiday [2][8]. A shorter extension is also available, but its exact duration is not stated in the supplied pricing information [1].

"From start to finish, this tour was an unforgettable experience. When enquiring about planning this trip ,Tony was very responsive, informative and. answered all our questions as we went along .When my suitcase didn't arrive in Madagascar Tony sorted it for me and negotiated with the airline on my behalf, going above and beyond and was very much appreciated Our guides were all knowledgeable, friendly, and punctual and clearly passionate about what they do, which made the whole trip both fun and informative. The itinerary was perfectly balanced — we saw all the major highlights without ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and just soak up the atmosphere. The transportation was comfortable, everything ran smoothly and on time, and as it was a private tour we were able to spend as little or as much time at each place as we chose. Every stop had something unique to offer, and the insider stories and local tips really brought the culture to life. It’s rare to find a tour that gets every detail right, but this one truly did, guides were on time , transfers were smooth, everything was flexible to our wishes. Hugh thanks to Tony, Sidney, Princee and Nico. The drivers were all awesome and we always felt safe despite some roads been very African massage- bumpy ! We left with amazing memories, beautiful photos, and a much deeper appreciation for the country. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable experience. We would do it again in a heartbeat!"

"We have recently finished a 10 day tour of Madagascar in April 2025 using the operator “Madagascar Natural Tours” from start to finish it almost felt too good to be true, I have never met any one else from Australia who has been to Madagascar so we were very hesitant in whether it would be safe and had no idea how to organise a holiday there or what to expect. Harilala was extremely professional and communicative the entire way and answered every single (too many) questions of ours and made us feel comfortable and excited. He planned our itinerary just perfectly we listed a couple of things we had wanted to see - baobab avenue, lemurs and Nosy Be. He organised our whole itinerary, accomodation and flights for us so that it flowed seamlessly. He provided options in accomodation as we were seeking honeymoon style resorts. The hotels that he booked were beautiful, clean, great food and lovely staff! We had a few internal flights in our itinerary and it was so nice stepping off the plane and trusting that there would be a guide there waiting for us to get us to our hotel. The few times during our stay we had a question regarding our tour, Harilala would reply to our messages almost immediately and paid very careful attention to ensure we were happy and getting the most out of our tour. Using Madagascar Natural Tours took all stress out of the holiday / planning and allowed us to just show up and make memories of a lifetime! I would highly recommend this company to anybody curious to explore Madagascar! Particularly if you do not speak French, we struggled with the language barrier however all guides had amazing English which was such a relief. We can’t wait to come back in a few years time!!"

Besides the wonderful tour, Solo and Fidele, our tour leaders, made the difference. We spent 20 days in Madagascar, and they flew by; everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back to see the southernmost part of the country."
