Current listings show entry prices near US$1,500, while a five-night western Madagascar extension starts at £1,852 per person. These figures give you a useful starting point, but they do not describe every final trip cost.
Ankarafantsika National Park is near Andranofasika in Madagascar's Boeny Region. Mahajanga is the closest listed city, about 115 kilometres north of the park. [1] The park has a mostly tropical climate and is known for forest wildlife, lemur viewing, and unusual species such as the greater big-footed mouse. [1]
Quick answer: Ankarafantsika National Park packages for 2027 start from US$1,500 per person. A five-night extension starts at £1,852 per person. A separate daily estimate is US$50 to US$70, including lodging, meals, park fees, and guided tours. Use those figures as planning benchmarks, then request a detailed quote.
This guide separates package prices from local daily costs. It also explains what to check before paying a deposit. You will find direct answers, a price table, packing advice, and five common questions.
Ankarafantsika National Park packages for 2027 are organised trips that combine park visits with transport, accommodation, guides, and wildlife activities. Published prices start from US$1,500, while a five-night western Madagascar extension starts at £1,852 per person. The final price depends on what the operator includes.
Ankarafantsika National Park is near Andranofasika in the Boeny Region of Madagascar. Mahajanga is approximately 115 kilometres north of the park. [1] This location makes the park a useful stop for western Madagascar routes, especially trips that also visit baobabs, dry forests, or other wildlife areas.
Madagascar is an island country with wildlife found nowhere else. Ankarafantsika adds a different setting to routes that include Andasibe-Mantadia National Park, Ranomafana National Park, or the dry landscapes around Isalo National Park. Each destination has its own travel time and price, so combining parks needs careful planning.
Ankarafantsika is a strong choice for travellers who want wildlife beyond the usual Madagascar route. The park is best for people who enjoy guided walks, night viewing, and less familiar species. It is also useful for travellers building a longer western circuit rather than a single short park visit.
Explore verified Madagascar packages on SafariFind to compare routes, read authentic traveller reviews, and find operators that serve western Madagascar.
A package price is easier to judge when you know what it covers. One listing may include hotels, meals, transfers, and a guide. Another may show only the tour service, leaving you to pay for transport, park fees, and accommodation separately.
The £1,852 five-night extension is a useful example. It covers a defined western Madagascar wildlife extension, but the source does not list every inclusion in the research data. [4] Ask the operator for a written list before you compare that figure with a US dollar package.
Ankarafantsika National Park packages cost at least US$1,500 per person in current 2026 and 2027 listings. A five-night extension starts at £1,852 per person. A separate local estimate puts one day at about US$50 to US$70, but that daily figure does not equal the cost of a full international safari package.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Madagascar all-inclusive package listing | From US$1,500 per person | Not stated in the research data | Not stated | Travellers seeking a packaged safari |
| Western Madagascar Wildlife, Ankarafantsika Extension | From £1,852 per person | Five nights | Not stated | Travellers adding Ankarafantsika to a wider route |
| Local daily cost estimate | About US$50 to US$70 per day | One day estimate | Not stated | Travellers checking local cost components |
The US$1,500 starting figure comes from a 2026 and 2027 Madagascar safari listing. [3] The £1,852 price comes from a five-night western Madagascar extension. [4] These are starting prices, not guaranteed quotes for every departure date.
A separate travel listing estimates a day in Ankarafantsika at about US$50 to US$70. That estimate includes about US$30 for lodging, US$15 for meals, and US$10 for park fees and guided tours. [8] Treat this as a local planning figure, not as a replacement for a complete package quote.
Transport can change the total sharply. A package may include road transfers from Mahajanga or another city. It may also include several parks, private vehicles, and a guide for the whole route. Those services explain why a full package price is much higher than a simple daily estimate.
Request a clear cost sheet before booking. Ask whether the listed price includes park entry, local guides, night walks, meals, lodging, road transfers, and airport transfers. Also ask which currency the operator uses and whether the quote changes with room type or group size.
Night walks deserve special attention. A listed Madagascar itinerary includes night walks in Ankarafantsika for lemur viewing. [5] Ask whether this activity is included, optional, or charged as a separate excursion.
Compare wider Madagascar safari costs for 2027 before choosing a short park visit or a longer western route.
Price range: Published package prices start from US$1,500 per person. A five-night extension starts at £1,852 per person. A local daily estimate is US$50 to US$70. These three figures describe different products, so compare inclusions rather than looking at the headline number alone.
Plan an Ankarafantsika trip by checking the route, included services, wildlife activities, and travel dates first. The park is near Andranofasika, while Mahajanga is about 115 kilometres north. Your operator should explain how you reach the park, where you sleep, and which guide services the price covers.
Getting there: Mahajanga is the closest listed city and lies about 115 kilometres north of Ankarafantsika. [1] The research data does not give a fixed transfer time or a single transport method. Therefore, ask the operator whether your trip uses a private vehicle, shared transfer, or another local connection.
Best time to visit: Confirm the 2027 travel months with your operator because the supplied park information describes Ankarafantsika as mostly tropical but does not give a fixed best-season window. [1] Ask how rainfall may affect roads, walking trails, night activities, and the wildlife schedule during your dates.
This approach is more useful than choosing a month from a generic calendar. Conditions can affect road travel and the comfort of guided walks. A verified operator can match your dates with the route and activities available at that time.
Night walks need a local guide. One listed Madagascar itinerary specifically includes Ankarafantsika night walks for lemur viewing. [5] Bring a small torch, quiet clothing, closed shoes, and a light layer. Follow the guide's distance rules and avoid shining bright light directly at animals.
The greater big-footed mouse is associated with Ankarafantsika and is described as not known elsewhere. [1] Ask your guide about the species you may see, but do not treat a rare sighting as guaranteed. Wildlife trips work best when you allow time for careful observation.

Travellers who want a rainforest setting can compare Ankarafantsika with Andasibe I or the wider Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. Travellers who want island wildlife and beaches can look at Nosy Komba or Lokobe National Park. These are different trips, so compare travel time and included activities carefully.
Ankarafantsika National Park packages for 2027 start from about US$1,500 per person in current listings. A separate five-night western Madagascar extension starts at £1,852 per person. The final quote depends on transport, lodging, meals, guides, park fees, and activities. [3][4]
A travel listing estimates one day in Ankarafantsika at about US$50 to US$70. That figure includes roughly US$30 for lodging, US$15 for meals, and US$10 for park fees and guided tours. Use it as a local benchmark, not as a complete international safari price. [8]
Ankarafantsika National Park is near Andranofasika in Madagascar's Boeny Region. Mahajanga is the closest listed city, about 115 kilometres north of the park. Your operator should confirm the exact road route and transfer plan for your 2027 departure. [1]
Ankarafantsika is known for lemur viewing and night walks. The park also contains the greater big-footed mouse, Macrotarsomys ingens, which is described as not known elsewhere. A sighting is never guaranteed, so use a local guide and allow enough time for careful viewing. [1][5]
A listed Madagascar itinerary includes Ankarafantsika night walks for lemur viewing, but inclusion depends on the package. Ask your operator whether the night walk, guide, transport, and any park charge are included or priced separately. [5]

"From start to finish, this tour was an unforgettable experience. When enquiring about planning this trip ,Tony was very responsive, informative and. answered all our questions as we went along .When my suitcase didn't arrive in Madagascar Tony sorted it for me and negotiated with the airline on my behalf, going above and beyond and was very much appreciated Our guides were all knowledgeable, friendly, and punctual and clearly passionate about what they do, which made the whole trip both fun and informative. The itinerary was perfectly balanced — we saw all the major highlights without ever feeling rushed, and there were plenty of opportunities to take photos, ask questions, and just soak up the atmosphere. The transportation was comfortable, everything ran smoothly and on time, and as it was a private tour we were able to spend as little or as much time at each place as we chose. Every stop had something unique to offer, and the insider stories and local tips really brought the culture to life. It’s rare to find a tour that gets every detail right, but this one truly did, guides were on time , transfers were smooth, everything was flexible to our wishes. Hugh thanks to Tony, Sidney, Princee and Nico. The drivers were all awesome and we always felt safe despite some roads been very African massage- bumpy ! We left with amazing memories, beautiful photos, and a much deeper appreciation for the country. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable experience. We would do it again in a heartbeat!"

"We have recently finished a 10 day tour of Madagascar in April 2025 using the operator “Madagascar Natural Tours” from start to finish it almost felt too good to be true, I have never met any one else from Australia who has been to Madagascar so we were very hesitant in whether it would be safe and had no idea how to organise a holiday there or what to expect. Harilala was extremely professional and communicative the entire way and answered every single (too many) questions of ours and made us feel comfortable and excited. He planned our itinerary just perfectly we listed a couple of things we had wanted to see - baobab avenue, lemurs and Nosy Be. He organised our whole itinerary, accomodation and flights for us so that it flowed seamlessly. He provided options in accomodation as we were seeking honeymoon style resorts. The hotels that he booked were beautiful, clean, great food and lovely staff! We had a few internal flights in our itinerary and it was so nice stepping off the plane and trusting that there would be a guide there waiting for us to get us to our hotel. The few times during our stay we had a question regarding our tour, Harilala would reply to our messages almost immediately and paid very careful attention to ensure we were happy and getting the most out of our tour. Using Madagascar Natural Tours took all stress out of the holiday / planning and allowed us to just show up and make memories of a lifetime! I would highly recommend this company to anybody curious to explore Madagascar! Particularly if you do not speak French, we struggled with the language barrier however all guides had amazing English which was such a relief. We can’t wait to come back in a few years time!!"

Besides the wonderful tour, Solo and Fidele, our tour leaders, made the difference. We spent 20 days in Madagascar, and they flew by; everything was fantastic. We'll definitely be back to see the southernmost part of the country."
