Akagera National Park charges international visitors $100 for one night, yet a full three-day safari can cost $1,250 or more per person. [8] [5]
Akagera safari packages 2027 combine park fees, game drives, transport, guides, meals, and lodging in eastern Rwanda. Park access costs international visitors $100 for one night, $150 for two nights, or $200 for three nights. Full safari packages start near $621 for two days and $1,250 for three days. [8] [4] [5]
Akagera safari packages 2027 are planned trips to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda. They can include park entry, a 4x4 vehicle, game drives, meals, a driver-guide, transfers, and accommodation. The exact price depends on the trip length, comfort level, group size, and included services.
Akagera National Park is Rwanda's main savanna safari destination. The park works well for travelers who want wildlife viewing without adding a long cross-border journey. You can also pair an Akagera visit with Kigali, Lake Kivu, or a longer Rwanda route.
Known for: Akagera packages focus on game drives across a mix of savanna, woodland, wetland, and lake areas. A full package often makes planning easier because one operator handles transport, entry, guiding, and daily timing.
Best for: Akagera is best for travelers who want a short safari, families who prefer a simple route, and visitors building a wider Rwanda holiday. It also suits travelers who want private transport rather than arranging each service alone.
Price range: A two-day package begins at €621 per person in one listed offer. A three-day tour begins at $1,250 per person. Budget Big Five packages are estimated at $1,000 to $1,800 for two or three days, while luxury trips can reach $8,000 or more. [4] [5] [6]
Akagera safari packages 2027 matter because the headline package price is only one part of the budget. Park fees, lodging, vehicle type, meals, and airport or Kigali transfers can change the final total. Read the inclusion list before comparing two offers that appear similar.
Compare Akagera walking safari packages and included costs before choosing a guided walking add-on.
Akagera safari packages cost about $621 for a two-day trip and $1,250 for a three-day tour at the listed starting prices. Budget Big Five trips sit near $1,000 to $1,800 for two or three days. Luxury packages can reach $8,000 or more. [4] [5] [6]
These figures describe different package styles, so compare them carefully. A low starting price may cover basic transport and a shared itinerary. A luxury price may include better lodging, private guiding, upgraded vehicles, and more meals or activities.
Akagera park access fees depend on nationality, residence, age, and the number of nights. International visitors pay $100 for one day or night, $150 for two nights, and $200 for three nights. [8]
| Visitor category | One day or night | Two nights | Three nights |
|---|---|---|---|
| International visitors | US$100 | US$150 | US$200 |
| Foreign residents of Rwanda or EAC countries | US$50 | US$75 | US$100 |
| Rwandan or EAC citizens | RWF15,000 | RWF22,500 | RWF30,000 |
Foreign residents of Rwanda and East African Community countries pay $50 for one night, $75 for two nights, or $100 for three nights. Rwandan and EAC citizens pay RWF15,000, RWF22,500, or RWF30,000 for the same periods. [8]
A listed one-day Akagera safari includes Kigali pickup and drop-off, park entry fees, a 4x4 safari vehicle, a game drive, lunch, and an English-speaking driver-guide. Accommodation and a rapid test are excluded from that offer. [1]
This example shows why you should check the details line by line. A package with transport and lunch may suit a short visit. A two-night stay needs a room, evening plans, and extra meals. Those items can affect the total more than the park fee.
Review Akagera lodge prices for 2027 if you want to compare safari costs with accommodation costs.
The right Akagera safari package depends on your time, comfort needs, and wildlife goals. Choose a one-day trip for a quick game drive, two days for a balanced visit, or three days when you want a slower pace and more chances to explore.
A one-day safari is the simplest choice for travelers based in Kigali. The listed itinerary includes city transfers, park entry, a 4x4 vehicle, a game drive, lunch, and an English-speaking driver-guide. [1] It is efficient, but the day can feel full once driving time is included.
A two-day safari gives you more time inside the park. One listed two-day package starts at €621 per person and accepts a 20% deposit. The remaining balance is due 60 days before departure. [4] Check the payment date carefully when you book for 2027.
A three-day safari suits travelers who want more time for game drives and a less rushed schedule. One listed three-day Akagera tour starts at $1,250 per person. [5] That price is a useful benchmark, but you should still check lodging, meals, transfers, and activity details.
| Trip length | Starting price | Best for | Main planning point |
|---|---|---|---|
| One day | Package pricing depends on the itinerary | Kigali-based travelers | Confirm transfer time and included meals |
| Two days | From €621 per person | Short safari breaks | One listed offer uses a 20% deposit |
| Three days | From $1,250 per person | A slower safari schedule | Check lodging and activity inclusions |
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, package details, and authentic traveler reviews. See how Akagera fits into a longer Rwanda itinerary before choosing a short package.
Akagera safari packages usually combine the services needed for a game drive, but each offer has its own list. Confirm park entry, vehicle type, guide, meals, lodging, transfers, and activities before you pay. The one-day example includes several core services, but it excludes accommodation and a rapid test. [1]
International visitors should allow for the $100, $150, or $200 park access rate when checking a 2027 quote. [8] A package may list park fees separately, or the operator may bundle them into the headline rate.
Families should check child rules before booking. International visitor children aged 6 to 12 are described as paying half the one-night adult rate. [8] Ask the operator how that rule applies to the full package, meals, rooms, and vehicle seats.
Comfort also changes the price. Budget Big Five trips are estimated at $1,000 to $1,800 for two or three days. Luxury safari trips can reach $8,000 or more. [6] A higher price should come with clear upgrades, not a vague promise of a better experience.
Request a quote for an Akagera safari package that fits your budget and compare the inclusions before selecting an operator.
Book an Akagera safari for 2027 by choosing your dates, setting a total budget, checking park fees, and comparing the full inclusion list. Start with the number of nights, then decide whether you need shared transport, a private vehicle, or a higher comfort level.
Compare operators on the same basis. A $1,250 three-day trip and a $1,250 luxury-style quote may include very different rooms, vehicles, and meals. Ask for a day-by-day plan when the package page does not explain the schedule.
Read authentic reviews before you book. Look for comments about pickup times, guide knowledge, vehicle comfort, communication, and how the operator handled changes. SafariFind helps you compare tour operators and find reviews in one place.
Plan your 2027 dates early, especially if you want a private vehicle or a specific lodge. Availability and final rates can change as operators confirm rooms and transport. Request a written quote that shows the currency, deposit, balance date, cancellation terms, and included park fees.
Travelers adding other Rwanda stops can compare Lake Kivu tour routes and 2027 prices. A wider route may reduce repeated transfers and give you more time outside the park.

A two-day Akagera safari gives you more time than a day trip and starts at €621 per person in one listed package. It suits travelers who want a short visit without rushing every activity. Check the deposit, balance date, lodging, and meals before booking. [4]
A listed three-day Akagera tour starts at $1,250 per person. The final cost depends on the vehicle, lodge, meals, transfers, and activities included. Compare the full itinerary rather than choosing by the starting price alone. [5]

"I went tracking the gorillas in Rwanda and I'm glad I made a good choice to go with Universal Ventures, Their guides are friendly, punctual driver and very responsive office for any query. The experience of gorilla trekking in a once in a lifetime and I recommend this tour operator for your gorilla safari as well. Thank you."
"I was working with a tour operator out of Kenya to plan a Uganda gorilla trek followed by a Kenya & Tanzania safari. For some reason, the Uganda portion started having issues with only a few weeks to go. Enter Brian Ahereza of GoExplore. Wow! Talk about fast acting and excellent service. Within 1 day, Brian arranged everything. The only thing that would have made my trip better is if I had added one extra day, but by this point, we couldn't squeeze it in, so Brian did the absolute best with what he had to work with. For starters, one of the best things that could have happened did! ANd that was to have Charles assigned as our driver/guide. We flew into Kigali, Rwanda and Charles met us at the airport and took us to our hotel. The next morning we got up for the long drive to the Nkoringo area of Bwindi. A lot of this drive is on some VERY difficult dirt roads and Charles was masterful at navigating the terrain. Furthermore, I was using offline Google Maps to track our location and there is no possible way I could have gotten to where Charles was going. We got to Nkoringo Lodge and immediately loved it. Brian had arranged for us to have one of only 2 rooms there that had on demand hot water. Our room overlooked Bwindi and we sat on the deck admiring the view. To get to the bar/dining area, we hiked up and over a ridge and the view from that side was south to the 3 volcanoes on the border of Uganda/Rwanda/Congo - absolutely beautiful! The next day we did the trek to the Nkuringo gorilla group. It was not a difficult trek until we had to cross a fast flowing stream because the gorillas had gone to that side and as soon as we crossed, they came back! So we did too. And then we found them and it was such a wonderful experience! My wife was standing next to me and a young male (7-8 years old??) suddenly turned and started walking towards us. My wife moved to the left, but our guide said to stand still. The gorilla walked right between us and as he passed, he stuck out his arm between my legs and grasped me around the thigh!!! OMG! Even though I could feel his amazing power, I did not feel in danger. Just as quickly, he let go and continued walking! After that amazing trek, we drove (another long day) up to Queen Elizabeth National Park and spent 2 nights at the Buffalo Safari lodge. We did a couple of games drives in which we saw lots of antelope, elephants, buffalo and 6 lions (all female, with one or two young males). We followed with a boat ride on the Kazenga channel which was fantastic. The next day, we drove to Kibale National Park to look for Chimps. We arrived at our wonderful lodge, the Chimpanzee Forest Guest House at about lunchtime and then headed to Kibale for our Chimp Trek. At lunch, we met a couple who showed us amazing pictures from their trek that very morning. Unfortunately for us, even with 7 groups in the forest, we could only find 2 chimp sand they were up in the trees. That happens in nature, but the real lesson is to take the morning trek!!! The next day, Charles drove us to Entebbe and our Uganda trip was over. One of my friends asked me about the birds in Uganda. My wife loves birds and by extension, I have come to love them as well. SHe asked Charles, our guide, about every single bird we saw. Charles had a very well worn copy of "Birds of East Africa". He didn't need that book because he had it memorized. Charles was a fantastic driver/guide/person! He made our trip incredibly special! I can't thank Brian, Charles and GoExplore enough for making this so special!!!"
"I’m a wildlife photographer, and in May 2025, I went on an 8-day private photo safari organized by Brian, the owner of GoExplore Safari. The goal was to photograph Uganda’s wildlife highlights: gorillas in Bwindi, big cats in Queen Elizabeth, chimpanzees in Kibale, and the rare Shoebill Stork in Mabamba Swamp. The itinerary was well thought out, and everything ran smoothly. I flew into Kigali, Rwanda, which I highly recommend if you're heading to the Rushaga sector of Bwindi — much closer and more convenient than Entebbe. If photography is your priority, I also suggest booking two gorilla treks or considering Mgahinga. I only did one, and while it was incredible to see them, capturing strong images was difficult. The rainforest is thick, lighting tricky, and your movement limited — just something to keep in mind. Mozes, my guide, was outstanding. He’s punctual, safe, knowledgeable, and has a clear love for wildlife. He studied tourism, understands photography, and even shared stories from past conservation work, like relocating giraffes from Murchison Falls to Kidepo. He always positioned the car for the best angles and made the drives smooth and productive. Our first stop was Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, just five minutes from Rushaga Gate. The lodge was cozy, well-designed, and mosquito-free, with great coffee and local food — an ideal base for gorilla trekking. In Queen Elizabeth, we had four full days of game drives. I like to go hard on photography, so we were out from sunrise to sunset. One major perk with GoExplore is you can plan your own drive schedule within park hours (6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). On our first day, we stayed until closing — the only car left in Kasenyi Plains. That kind of flexibility made a huge difference. I also recommend the optional lion and leopard tracking. You’re still in your private vehicle, but a tracker joins you and leads off-road directly to the cats. We spent nearly four hours with a leopard and her cubs in a cactus tree — truly a dream scenario for any photographer. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale was another highlight. The chimps came down from the trees and moved through the forest, and we followed them. The one-hour viewing stretched to 2.5 hours. For photography, it’s better to wait until they’re on the ground — the real action happens there. On the final day, we went to Mabamba Swamp to see the Shoebill. From a photography standpoint, it’s the best place in Africa to photograph this rare bird. The canoe brings you to water level, with clean backgrounds and soft light — a perfect setup. Uganda in late May was lush, green, and surprisingly dry — just one short rainstorm. The scenery, wildlife, and people made it a beautiful place to explore. If you’re considering Uganda, book with GoExplore — and if you can, request Mozes. His experience and attention to detail made the entire trip not just productive, but truly enjoyable. Huge thanks to Brian and Mozes for making it all happen!"
"Lovely destination Uganda we selected GoExplore Safaris because their budget was affordable and they were so fast and quick at responding to our emails and all the questions. Elephants, giraffe, deer, antelope, warthogs, hippopotamus, crocodiles, hyena, lion, beautiful birds, and a leopard. It was incredible! The boat rides up the Nile to Murchison Falls is a must do and a perfect way to end the tour. I Did not have any Idea on how beautiful Uganda is. wow, I highly recommend GoExplore Safaris and travel for anyone who is interested in adventuring Uganda and Rwanda to its fullest."
