A 5-Day Maputo National Park Itinerary: 2027 Safari Cost is about $3,000-$5,000 per person for accommodation, meals, park fees, and planned safari activities. A five-day trip works best for travelers who want a short safari from Maputo. January 2-March 31 and July 1-December 31 are listed as 2027 high-season travel windows for a Mozambique beach-and-safari package. [4]
Maputo National Park gives travelers a five-day safari plan close to Mozambique’s capital, with time for game drives, rest, and careful travel planning.
Maputo National Park is a strong choice for a short Mozambique safari because the trip can begin and end in Maputo. A five-day itinerary gives you enough time for several safari activities without turning the journey into a long multi-country expedition. The core planning estimate is $3,000-$5,000 per person in 2027, depending on lodging, meals, park fees, transfers, and the level of service. [2]
A five-day Maputo National Park itinerary normally combines arrival planning, park time, guided drives, meals, and accommodation. The exact package depends on the operator. Therefore, ask for a written quote that separates park fees, transport, rooms, meals, guide costs, and optional activities.
Known for: A short safari format that begins near Maputo and can fit into a wider Mozambique holiday. Maputo National Park also works well as one part of a longer route that includes beaches or another national park. The itinerary is therefore useful for travelers who want wildlife and coastal travel in one holiday.
Best for: Travelers with five available days, couples seeking a private trip, families that prefer a simple route, and visitors who do not want a long internal flight schedule. A full-day tour from Maputo is listed from $245 per person in an open-backed safari vehicle. [8]
The $245 day-tour price is a useful starting point, but it is not the cost of a complete five-day safari. A longer package adds four nights of accommodation, meals, several transfers, guide services, and more than one park activity. Luxury rooms and private vehicles can raise the final price quickly.
Maputo National Park also fits travelers comparing several Mozambique regions. The SafariFind guide to Maputo National Park safari prices by budget can help you compare broad price levels before requesting an itinerary.
SafariFind planning option: Compare 2027 Maputo National Park safari prices by budget before choosing your room and vehicle level.
Five days create a balanced pace. Day one can cover arrival and a transfer. Days two, three, and four can focus on park activities. Day five can allow a final morning activity and departure. This structure leaves some room for weather, road delays, or a slower start after an international flight.
Longer expedition programs show how Maputo can fit within a much wider African journey. The University of Michigan Alumni Association’s 2027 African Expedition places Maputo on Day 6 and Kruger National Park on Day 7. That expedition starts at $13,995 per person and lists an $850 deposit. [1] A five-day park trip is much shorter and should not be compared directly with that luxury train expedition.
A five-day Maputo National Park safari costs about $3,000-$5,000 per person in 2027. This range covers a planned package with accommodation, meals, park fees, and safari activities. The lower end suits simpler lodging and shared services. The upper end reflects more comfort, private arrangements, or added experiences. [2]
Accommodation is usually the largest cost factor. A simple lodge, a tented camp, and a high-end private property do not carry the same nightly rate. Ask whether the quote uses shared rooms, single rooms, or a private villa. Single supplements can also change the total for solo travelers.
Transport is another major factor. A shared safari vehicle spreads fuel, guide, and transfer costs across several guests. A private vehicle offers more control over departure times and stops. It usually costs more because fewer travelers share the same operating expenses.
Meals and park fees should appear as separate lines in your quote. The $3,000-$5,000 planning range assumes these core items form part of the package. However, drinks, tips, travel insurance, international flights, visas, and personal purchases may sit outside the package price.
| Name | Price | Duration | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Five-day Maputo National Park safari estimate | $3,000-$5,000 per person | 5 days | Compare current reviews | Complete short safari package |
| Maputo National Park private full-day tour | From $245 per person | 1 day | Not stated | Day visitors and short stays |
| University of Michigan African Expedition | From $13,995 per person | Multi-day expedition | Not stated | Luxury rail and regional touring |
The table shows why package labels matter. A one-day safari price does not include four nights of lodging. A luxury expedition also includes a much broader route. Compare the same inclusions before deciding that one quote is cheaper.
A Mozambique beach-and-safari package lists January 2-March 31 and July 1-December 31 as 2026/2027 high-season dates. It lists an adult-sharing rate of $14,590 per person. [4] That price covers a broader beach-and-safari holiday, so it is not a direct replacement for a five-day Maputo package.
These dates still provide a useful booking signal. High-season travel can place more pressure on rooms, vehicles, and guides. Request quotes early for travel during those windows. Then compare what each operator includes rather than comparing headline prices alone.
SafariFind price check: Request a quote for a 2027 Maputo safari within your budget and compare operator inclusions, guest reviews, and room types.
A practical five-day itinerary uses one arrival day, three full activity days, and one departure day. This plan keeps the route simple and reduces rushed transfers. Your operator should confirm the exact drive times, accommodation, park access, and activity schedule before you pay a deposit.
Day one is for arrival, a hotel check-in, and a trip briefing. Keep the first day light if you arrive after a long international flight. Meet your guide, check your luggage, and confirm the next morning’s departure time.
Mozambique offers more than a Maputo safari route. However, a short itinerary works best when you avoid adding distant destinations too early. Save beach extensions or other parks for a separate trip unless your operator has planned the connections.
Day two can include the main transfer into the park and an afternoon safari activity. An open-backed safari vehicle is used for the listed one-day tour from Maputo. [8] Your operator should explain vehicle seating, luggage limits, weather cover, and the meeting point.
Use this day to learn the guide’s routine. Ask how early departures work, where you can stop, and how meals fit around game drives. A clear plan helps families and first-time safari guests feel comfortable from the start.
Day three is the main full-day safari day. A typical plan can include an early drive, a meal break, and a later activity. The guide sets the final route based on park rules, road conditions, and wildlife reports. Avoid promising a fixed animal list because sightings change each day.
Bring a neutral-colored shirt, a light jacket, sun protection, water, and a small camera. Keep your bag compact. A soft daypack works better than a large hard case inside a safari vehicle.
Day four can repeat the most useful safari format or add a private activity. Shared trips offer a lower cost. Private trips give you more control over timing and photography stops. Ask your operator whether the price changes when you switch from shared to private transport.
Travelers who want a broader Mozambique trip can compare this plan with a beach stay. SafariFind’s guide to a first-timer’s five-day Bazaruto itinerary shows how a five-day coastal holiday follows a different pace and cost structure.
Day five should include a final morning activity only if your departure time allows it. Leave a buffer for the return transfer to Maputo. Confirm whether your package ends at a hotel, airport, or another meeting point.
A good final day avoids an unnecessary rush. Keep passports, medication, money, and electronics in your hand luggage. Ask the guide to confirm the return time before the last activity begins.
Book a five-day Maputo safari after checking the route, inclusions, and operator record. The best package is not always the lowest quote. It is the quote that clearly explains transport, lodging, meals, fees, activities, and support when plans change.
Shared safaris suit travelers who want a lower cost and a social setting. Private safaris suit couples, families, photographers, and guests who want flexible timing. Luxury packages suit travelers who prefer higher-end rooms and added comfort.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators and authentic reviews. Read reviews from previous guests before you request a quote. Then ask the operator to match the itinerary to your dates, group size, and comfort level.
Maputo is not the only safari starting point in the country. Travelers comparing routes can read the guide to Beira safari tours, prices, routes, and local operators. Beira may suit a different travel plan, but adding it to a five-day Maputo trip can create extra transfers.
Gorongosa also offers a different style of safari planning. The guide to Gorongosa National Park night drives and permit costs is useful for travelers who want to compare activity types. A night-drive plan should remain separate unless your operator confirms the transport and timing.
Banhine National Park is another comparison point for travelers seeking a broader Mozambique route. Read the guide to Banhine National Park safari packages for 2027 before adding another park to your plan.
The University of Michigan expedition lists an $850 deposit per person for its 2027 program. [1] That figure applies to the expedition, not a standard five-day park package. It still shows why you should check deposit rules before booking any 2027 safari.
A five-day Maputo National Park safari costs about $3,000-$5,000 per person in 2027. The estimate includes accommodation, meals, park fees, and planned safari activities. Shared transport and simpler lodging tend toward the lower end. Private vehicles and luxury rooms can increase the total. [2]
Five days is enough for a focused Maputo National Park safari. A useful plan includes one arrival day, three full activity days, and one departure day. This schedule gives travelers meaningful park time while limiting long transfers and rushed connections.
The listed one-day Maputo National Park tour starts from $245 per person. The tour departs from Maputo in an open-backed safari vehicle, and the final price varies by group size. A complete five-day safari costs more because it adds rooms, meals, fees, transfers, and extra activities. [8]
Listed 2027 high-season windows are January 2-March 31 and July 1-December 31. These dates come from a Mozambique beach-and-safari package and can help with early planning. Confirm availability and final rates with your selected operator before booking. [4]
A standard five-day Maputo safari quote does not automatically include international flights. Ask whether domestic flights, airport transfers, visas, travel insurance, drinks, and tips sit inside or outside the price. Request a written list of inclusions before paying.
Maputo is one stop in some much longer African expeditions. The University of Michigan 2027 program lists Maputo on Day 6 and Kruger National Park on Day 7, with a starting price of $13,995 per person. [1] A five-day Maputo safari offers a shorter, more focused trip.
SafariFind connects travelers with verified tour operators, safari packages, and authentic traveler reviews. Compare the five-day itinerary, price, inclusions, and operator feedback before you request a quote for 2027.
A five-day Maputo National Park itinerary costs about $3,000-$5,000 per person in 2027 and offers a focused safari near Maputo. The best plan uses one arrival day, three full activity days, and one departure day. It also separates the real package cost from the $245 full-day tour benchmark. [8]
Choose a shared package if price matters most. Choose a private vehicle if timing and photography matter more. Travelers planning January 2-March 31 or July 1-December 31 should request availability early because those dates appear in a listed high-season package. [4]

"This is the second time I am writing a review of my experience of traveling with Kikwetu Cultural Adventures. Last year, Ken Benson and his team organized an 80 day custom made safari through 7 African countries for me with such outstanding logistics and customer service throughout the safari, that this year I decided to turn again to Ken and his team to ask for his professional assistance in organizing a half-around-the-world tour for me. I am 71 years old and decided that it was now or never for me to travel to some parts of the world which always have exerted a lot of attraction over me. I communicated to Ken via e-mail my ideas of where I wanted to go and how long I wanted to stay in each place and asked him to arrange flight connection, ground transportation, accommodation, sightseeing, etc. It turned out to be the safari of a lifetime: 31 days and 7500 km by road through rural and religious Ethiopia. One week in Nairobi with visits to museums and galleries, the Sheldrick’s elephant orphanage, a hike through Hell’s Gate close to Naivasha, Kibera slum and a very enjoyable walking tour through down town Nairobi which is especially recommendable on a Sunday. Flight from Nairobi to Nampula and ground transportation to Nacala, Mozambique. From Nacala, I had arranged for a freighter travel to Singapore with a stop over in Mauritius Island, but with three weeks on my hands while waiting for another freighter to come along and take me back home to Mexico across the Indian and the Pacific Ocean, Ken arranged for a 12 day safari in Indonesia, visiting Central and East Java, Sulawesi and Bali, and one week in Malaysia with highlights in Georgetown, Ipoh and Malacca. My journey lasted 122 days and whenever network connections were available, Ken kept track of my travels and was in contact with me and/or the subcontracted provider to make sure, that everything went according to program and schedule. It was a most gratifying experience and I want to thank Ken, Livingstone, Paul and the rest of Kikwetu Cultural Adventures for having made one more of my dreams come true. There is no doubt in my mind that, if you are interested in a truly custom made safari inside Africa and in neighboring countries, Kikwetu Cultural Adventures is the best choice for getting what you are looking for with regard to advice, support, customer service and price."
